Carlotta's Daily Report-Chapter 108: Killing Listener
Carlotta really wanted Amelia to directly take out the Moonlight and blast the opponent. Although the Moonlight couldn’t sail on land, it wasn’t impossible to just activate the energy cannon there, and its power would still be astonishing.
However, considering there were other adventurers behind them, this plan was ultimately not carried out.
She performed the Elven Dance, and with a slight wave above her head, she caught all the branches that were striking down.
If someone had seen this scene, they would definitely be scared to death. An eighth-tier apprentice, facing a Listener-level tree demon, was actually able to catch its attack, which was very much against common sense.
In fact, Carlotta also felt the pressure.
"This guy is stronger than the Listener from the Shadow Adventurer Group."
Carlotta immediately made the judgment.
"It’s fine, I’m here."
Amelia waved her hand, and a dense wave of magical power appeared in the void.
Immediately, large branches appeared out of thin air, heavily striking the tree demon’s trunk, causing it to scream in pain.
Amelia had actually used memory magic to recreate the tree demon’s attack, using the tree demon’s own attack against it.
But this was just a prelude. With another wave of her hand, the branches that touched the tree demon turned into flames, and the blazing fire instantly enveloped the tree demon.
Tree demons are trees, and they are also afraid of fire. Amelia made the fire from her memory appear, and the lethality made the tree demon scream again.
Seeing this, Carlotta thought deeply. She felt that even if she didn’t interfere, Amelia wouldn’t have any trouble dealing with a Listener-level tree demon.
If she got involved, things would become even simpler.
Perhaps because of the presence of a Listener-level tree demon, the other tree demons didn’t approach but went to encircle Ves and the others, so Carlotta and Amelia wouldn’t be surrounded.
The two worked together, and it didn’t take long for them to kill the tree demon in front of them.
The huge tree demon turned into ashes in the fire, but something seemed to be shining in the burned body.
"After a tree demon dies, there will always be a tree heart, which can be used as material for many alchemical potions."
Amelia said.
The tree heart dropped by a Listener-level tree demon was obviously of great value and could be used to make many precious potions.
She extinguished the fire and took out a clear-textured, jade-like sphere, storing it in the Ten-Heart Pearl.
The two moved away from the area where the tree demon was and kept going until they reached a river.
A fish jumped out of the river, its body emitting tri-colored light, and the splashing water was particularly dazzling.
But just as the fish was about to return to the river, Amelia waved her hand, and a fish basket appeared under the tri-colored fish, catching it and bringing it back.
"It’s actually a tri-colored fish."
Amelia’s eyes showed a bit of surprise as she told Carlotta, "This fish has inherent magic power. Eating it can speed up the gathering of magic power and improve speed. It’s very rare in the outside world."
"Are there many here?"
Carlotta perked up and quickly went to the river to look inside.
She didn’t see any tri-colored fish, but a huge crocodile suddenly surfaced, opening its bloody mouth to bite at Carlotta.
Carlotta didn’t lose her vigilance. The Rose Cross appeared in her hand, and chaotic sword shadows covered down, instantly riddling the crocodile with holes, and it fell on the riverbank with a thud.
"A sixth-tier apprentice, and it tried to ambush me."
Carlotta pointed.
She identified it as a Black Scale Crocodile. Its black scales could be used to make armor, but the scales of a sixth-level Black Scale Crocodile weren’t that good, making her a bit disdainful.
Despite her disdain, Carlotta still skinned it, taking whatever loot she could.
At the same time, she looked into the river and didn’t see any more tri-colored fish. It seemed this fish wasn’t a common thing.
Amelia came over, and with a slight use of memory magic, a grill appeared, with flames jumping, very warm.
After processing simply the tri-colored fish, she placed it on the grill to roast.
"Memory magic is really convenient. You can just create whatever you need from memory."
Carlotta couldn’t help but sighed.
"Not everything can be done with memory magic."
Amelia said.
She took out some seasoning from the Ten-Heart Pearl and sprinkled it on the tri-colored fish. The seasoning and the fish combined, instantly releasing a rich aroma.
As Carlotta skinned the crocodile, she asked, "Amelia, if you used memory magic to create the seasoning, would it work?"
"It wouldn’t work. The seasoning has to be real."
Amelia shook her head.
"Then..."
Carlotta wanted to ask more, but suddenly her ears twitched, and she heard some footsteps.
She turned around and saw two people running out of the woods.
"What a coincidence?"
Carlotta was surprised. The two people in front of her were Ves and Mia. This river was quite far from where they had met before, and she didn’t expect these two to have come here.
But only these two? 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
Seeing Carlotta and Amelia, Ves also seemed a bit surprised, then smiled, "We meet again. It seems we have some fate."
"Where are your people?"
Carlotta asked.
"Scattered."
Ves shook his head helplessly, "There were too many tree demons, at least hundreds, and many of them were listener-level. We couldn’t resist and had to scatter and flee. Sky Island is indeed a dangerous place."
He sighed, somewhat helpless.
Even as a Listener, one couldn’t act recklessly on Sky Island. There were many things to be wary of.
As he spoke, he walked over on his own, his gaze fell on the tri-colored fish.
"It’s actually a tri-colored fish? This is a good thing. You’re lucky."
Ves smiled, "Looks like I’m in for a treat."
Carlotta frowned immediately, "What do you mean you’re in for a treat? Did I say I would let you eat it?"
Amelia also glanced at Ves, her eyes cold.
Ves smiled unhurriedly, "If I insist on eating it, can you stop me? You can only blame your bad luck for running into me."
Having confirmed Carlotta and Amelia’s levels, he no longer disguised himself, showing his true colors.
His goal couldn’t just be the tri-colored fish. Now, his gaze at the two had a playful look.
People always have two sides. You can never tell if the kindness someone shows on the surface is truly who they are.
Perhaps behind the scenes, in the unknown depths, the person you thought was kind can reveal an ugly side.
Sky Island is full of opportunities and dangers. It is detached from any nation, with no constraints. Here, as long as you clean up after yourself, no one will know what you’ve done. In such a situation, it’s inevitable for people to unleash the beast within.
Ves couldn’t hide his various thoughts and directly demanded the spoils from Carlotta and Amelia.
"The dangers of Sky Island are never just the monsters, but also the explorers. Consider this a lesson from me."
Ves smiled.
Mia, who followed Ves, kept her head down and remained silent, not surprised by this.
Carlotta said indifferently, "So you think everything is under your control? Despite being severely injured, you still don’t know how to keep a low profile. Clearly, you have a death wish."
Her sharp eyes noticed the torn clothes on Ves, the dried but still visible bloodstains, and his struggled breathing, as if he was enduring something.
It was clear that even though Ves had escaped the siege of the Tree Demons, he was still heavily injured.
Ves looked at Carlotta in surprise, not expecting her to see through his condition.
But then he smiled again, "I am indeed injured, and not slightly, but that doesn’t change the fact that I am a Listener. Even an injured Listener is not something an apprentice can handle."
"You’re too arrogant."
Carlotta’s eyes were cold.
"This is the confidence a Listener should have."
Ves corrected, then slightly restrained his smile, "Alright, I don’t want to waste any more words. Will you hand over everything you have, or shall I take it myself?"
He treated the two as his prey, completely disregarding their thoughts.
The response to Ves was a sword.
"Whoosh!"
Carlotta struck directly, a dazzling sword light flashing forward, merging the Elven Light and Elven Starfall, like a condensed star crashing horizontally, the brilliant attack exploding before Ves’s eyes.
Ves raised his hand indifferently, a sword appeared in his hand, directly meeting Carlotta’s attack, choosing to clash head-on.
’A mere eighth-tier apprentice, trying to fight me? Even if I’m heavily injured, I’m not something an eighth-tier apprentice can handle.’
"Boom!"
Their weapons collided, and Ves felt an overwhelming wave of attack surge over him, his entire arm numbed by the impact, the weapon in his hand uncontrollably flying away.
This situation made Ves’s face change drastically, and in shock, he quickly withdrew, feeling incredulous.
Is this the attack of an eighth-tier apprentice?
Which eighth-tier apprentice could have such a fierce attack? Is this fake?
After retreating two steps, Ves felt a whistling wind behind him, and an intense sense of crisis enveloped his entire body. He quickly moved to the side.
Ves’s reaction was swift, sidestepping away, narrowly avoiding the sword that slashed through the air behind him.
But then the sword turned and flew towards him again, and Carlotta followed like a shadow, the sword tip pointing directly at Ves’s forehead.
Ves withdrew again and again, but no matter how much he withdrew, he couldn’t get far. Due to his intense movements, his wounds, which had just healed, reopened, causing him to let out a scream, his body stiffening for a moment.
The next moment, two swords were placed on Ves’s neck. A slight shift would be enough to decapitate him.
