CASSANDRA: The Unfavored Princess-Chapter 143: Nanny?
Princess Cassandra waited for Lord Bentham to come.
Cassandra looked at the side as she saw the Duke standing there with a dark face. Princess Cassandra knew that Duke Salvador was not happy with her decision but he still accepted her view and called for Lord Bentham.
’Am I doing something wrong?’
’Should I try to solve the problem without consulting the Lord?’
Princess Cassandra thought. She did not know what to think anymore. All she knew was that Lord Bentham was the one who knew about her mother. A mother she missed dearly, someone she had only known for a brief time but was too young to remember.
’No, Lord Bentham is the only one who knows about my mother.’
’My mother knew him. They should have been close. After all, she told him how to talk using thoughts.’
’Duke Salvador does not believe Lord Bentham but the Lord had never done anything that might affect me. He was always respectful and kind to me.’
’Although there were times when I doubted the Lord myself, Lord Bentham had always maintained his dignified self.’
Princess Cassandra looked at the Duke as she asked in a soft tone. "What are you thinking?"
Duke Salvador who was deep in thoughts looked at the fifth Princess who was like a breath of fresh air in his life. No matter how angry he was, Aiden had realized that he could not stay angry with the fifth Princess.
Aiden signed. "I am thinking why can’t you hear my thoughts? Maybe Achard knows about it too."
Princess Cassandra was silent. This was the question that was hurting her brains for a long time. Initially, she just assumed that she cannot hear the words of the strongest person but after Princess Valeria gained powers she became the strongest, and yet she could hear her thoughts.
"Yes, this is something I am curious about as well." Princess Cassandra said in a soft tone. She looked at Duke Salvador as her lips curled up. "Maybe my mother might know about it."
"So you got the powers from your mother?" Duke Salvador asked as he raised his eyebrows. Although he was wearing a mask, Princess Cassandra could imagine his expression at the time.
"I guess so. At Least I can deduce that much from Lord Bentham’s words. My mother had the same power. It’s like a power that some of your people have." Princess Cassandra said. "Like Blazh who can heal using water while your butler’s family can create an illusion with a stimulus."
Aiden nodded. After all, he knew that there were rare talents that existed. His army had a lot of them. Aiden also knew that they were not usually accepted by the Elvira Empire so he had to hide the people in his army but was it different in the Vivere Kingdom? Did the people in the Vivere Kingdom acknowledge and respect the people who were a little different from them?
Duke Salvador had the thought in his mind but he did not ask Princess Cassandra. He did not want to bombard her mind with more questions. Aiden knew that there was a limit to his curiosity as well and the problems in their life were already increasing day by day.
"Are you planning on asking it to Achard?" Duke Salvador asked in a soft tone. He observed the reaction on Princess Cassandra’s face but he could not see anything unusual.
"Maybe I should. It would be more convenient to use that with you." Princess Cassandra murmured as a knock was heard at the door. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
Princess Cassandra looked at Duke Salvador. Even before the door was opened she knew who was standing outside.
"Princess Lord Bentham is here." Amy entered the room as she said. She turned sideways giving some space for Lord Bentham to enter.
Princess Cassandra smiled. "Amy, prepare some refreshment."
Amy nodded as she left the room, closing the door in the process.
"You are not going to send him away?" Lord Bentham asked as he saw the guard standing beside the fifth Princess. Achard’s eyes narrowed as he sat down opposite the Princess with a smile. "I thought you wanted to discuss things with me."
"Yes but Ed can stay. I trust him the most." Princess Cassandra said as she could feel Duke Salvador’s hands forming a fist at Lord Bnetham’s word.
"Ed? You mean you are close with this guard that Duke Salvador had given you. Why Princess? Why do you trust something that the Duke had provided for when all of your problems had arisen because of that man." Lord Bentham raised his eyebrows as he asked the question looking at the guard.
"The Duke had never created any problem for me. He has always helped me." Princess Cassandra said with a firm tone. Her eyes turned sharp as she looked at the Lord.
"You have a good impression of the Duke." Lord Bentham said as he moved forward. He smiled as Achard looked at the guard. "The Princess must truly love the Duke."
Princess Cassandra’s eyes widened at Lord Bentham’s words. Lord Bentham laughed at the fifth Princess’s reaction.
"Why are you shocked? The man even pretended to be your guard and followed you into the enemy kingdom. It looks like the Duke also loves you a lot." Achard Bentham said as he smiled looking at the guard with narrowed eyes. "Did you really think I will not know who you are, my friend?"
Duke Salvador who was silent for a long time smiled as he sighed. "So you know."
Lord Bentham smiled as the guard removed the mask and sat beside the fifth Princess. Aiden touched Princess Cassandra’s hand as he looked at Lord Bentham.
"I must have been too naive if I didn’t know you were my childhood friend. Did you forget that I used to call you Ed when we were children?" Lord Bentham smiled as he leaned back. "So are you both together now?"
"Yes, we are." Duke Salvador smiled as his hold on the fifth Princess tightened. "I am grateful that you brought us together but I would like you to keep your distance from here on."
Achard Bentham smiled as he said. "But she is my fiance."
"Only in name. She will be my wife in the future. She is going to marry me." Aiden Salvador’s words were sharp as if he was declaring the truth.
Lord Bentham did not say anything as he looked at the fifth Princess. "So now that we have made everything clear can we discuss why you called me here?"
"When did you know?" Princess Cassandra asked as her voice trembled a little.
"When the guard did not leave your side and started to look with the killer gaze at me." Lord Bentham chuckled as he said. "Even though he wasn’t looking at me straight, I could feel the burning fury from him."
Princess Cassandra was silent at Lord Bentham’s words. She did not know how to react. She could only look at the Duke who took the job of asking questions in his own hands.
"You know her mother," Aiden asked in a sharp tone.
"Yes, I do." Lord Bentham did not deny as he nodded his head. "She was the one who taught me a lot of things when I was younger."
"So you really knew her." Duke Salvador ran his hand over his hair. "So tell me what else you know about the Princess. You knew she could read minds from the start."
"I won’t say from the start though. As you know I could hardly see her once she went into the palace at a young age but I could imagine." Lord Bentham said softly. "She managed to survive when other Princesses died miserably."
Lord Bentham looked at the fifth Princess as he smiled. "When I listened to the report I could guess that she had inherited her mother’s ability. After all, the Princess had managed to avoid poison on many occasions. I knew it was not luck."
Duke Salvador looked at Lord Bentham with a sharp gaze. "Was our friendship genuine? Have you ever thought of me as your friend?"
"If I did not think of you as a friend then I would have told the Vivere Kingdom’s people who you really are." Lord Bentham smiled as his eyes shined. "I have always thought of you as my friend Aiden."
"So how did you know my mother? I can see that you were so close that you tried to protect me." Princess Cassandra said as her eyes narrowed. "I should know the truth about my past."
Princess Cassandra moved forward as she looked into Lord Bentham’s eyes. "Lord Bentham, you should not avoid this question today. I have a right to know."
Lord Bentham was silent as he looked between Duke Salvador and Princess Cassandra. Achard Bentham could not help but sigh. "Yes, Princess has a right to know. You should know about your past."
Lord Bentham smiled as he continued. "Your mother was my nanny."
