CAT WARLOCK: This Darklord Feasts Upon Horror-Chapter 204: G.O.D. Suspension
While Mater was busy constructing the mask, the others sat on the luxurious couch inside Jean’s penthouse.
"Her couch seems even more expensive than me!" Evelynn said.
"Some people are in it for the money, sister." Crow shrugged.
"How old were you when you... You know. Passed away? You sound so knowledgeable. It feels like I’m talking to my grandparents." Evelynn said.
"Uh... It’s complicated." Crow scratched his smooth head.
"What did you find in the Atlas Seven, Crow?" Selina said. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
"I found some very interesting things, my lady. Assassin actually has a very big bank account and a whole lot of mobile credits. I didn’t do a thorough count but I’m guessing it must be at least ten million credits."
"Shi-i-i-i-i-i-t!" Mater’s voice echoed from the other side of the room. "Maybe we should just become robbers to get rich quick."
The black cat then turned back to focus on creating the mask.
"Please, Crow. Just call me by my name. You don’t need to use honorifics with me. It sounds like I’m a medieval duchess or something." Selina said.
"Uh..." Crow scratched his face in response. He did it out of respect for Mater.
"I’ll allow it!" Mater interrupted the conversation again.
"I understand, Master. Then I will refer to you by name from now on... Miss Isles." Crow nodded.
Selina smiled, "Well? You were saying you found something interesting in the Atlas Seven."
"Yes, Miss Isles. I found this."
Crow took out a small glass tube. Inside was a unique blue color chemical of unknown origin.
"What is it?" Aurora said.
"This is GOD." Crow said.
"Huh?" Mater’s ears perked up. He just finished making the Mimicry Mask.
The black cat grabbed the mask by his mouth and jumped over to the couch.
"Explain." The black cat meowed.
"Genetic Optimization Drive. They called this God suspension internally. It has the ability to expand the Psycho Force of a Psychic via genetic modification." Crow said.
"An alternative way to build your Chaos Well? I think I saw that somewhere inside their database. Bring me your laptop, Selina." The black cat meowed.
Selina placed the laptop on the table. Mater used it to access the Atlas Seven internal network and pulled up information about GOD.
Psychics of this world were different from Chaos Users that Mater knew. They didn’t raise their power by snatching Chaos from another. Instead they trained their Chaos Singularity and had a deep belief in this method.
"There..."
The information about G.O.D. showed up. Both documents that could be accessed by minor researchers inside the company and the redacted parts that only a few core scientists knew.
"Hmmm. The Atlas seems to think that Psycho Force originated from biology. So they started in biology, or more precisely, genetics to adjust the Psycho Force." The black cat stroked its whiskers. "It isn’t a bad guess to be honest and it can work."
"It did work, Master. Most of the core members of the Atlas used GOD suspension before. But the influence of this drug stops at the Silver Rank.
There were quite a few volunteers. Mostly old Psychics that agreed to test Gold Rank God." Crow said.
"Let me guess. They exploded." Selina said.
"You’re absolutely correct, Miss Isles." Crow nodded.
"Tch. They had a good hunch but they picked the wrong route. The most important thing about expanding your Chaos Well is your spiritual mind. Genetics couldn’t help with that." The black cat meowed.
"But this drug does have a very good potential. It could be used as a support component when Psychics advance in ranking.
Good work, Crow. Drop this tube at Leslie’s lab. We will analyze it."
Mater opened his mouth and spat out a small Chaos Sphere. It didn’t have much Chaos, Mater only used it as a container to store the green liquid he got in the Union’s hospital.
"And this thing too. This is also a very good healing potion."
"Of course, Master. Should I deliver it now?"
"There is no rush. We have quite a few things to do. Do you want to come along?"
"Of course, Master! I am bored to death at that corporation. Everyone is just so fake toward me." Crow groaned in disdain.
"That is something you and I share, Crow. I hate it as well." The black cat snickered gently.
"Well, Evelynn. Try on the Mimicry Mask. It’s your new identity for now."
Evelynn grabbed the red mask and put it on her face. Her entire body distorted and her face transformed. Evelynn Monroe was no more. Now there was only Jean Mollison.
Evelynn looked at herself in the mirror. Even when wearing the face of another, Evelynn’s expression was much more different than Jean’s.
With Evenlynn’s soft demeanor, Jean was quite attractive. Mater couldn’t understand why the girl had to put on that ugly expression all the time and ruin her natural beauty.
’Oh well. Too late to ask her now! Muahaha!’
"What are we doing next, Mater?" Selina petted the cat gently.
"Let’s give Justin Mei a visit. We need to check up on his defamation case and also Aurora’s legal issue." The black cat meowed.
"Me?" Aurora pointed at her face.
"You were announced dead, Aurora. Bringing a person back to life in this society might be difficult. Justin would be perfect in dealing with this.
Also, there is something weird about your case. Technically speaking, you didn’t die. Because no one found your corpse. But you were announced dead very quickly. I doubt any parents would do such a thing unless they saw your cold body." The black cat stroked its whiskers.
"There is definitely something weird about your ’death’. Aside from the fact that the Zakharovs did it." Crow rested his chin in his hands. "There is something that we don’t know here."
"Crow is right. Let’s check it over with the lawyer first and see if it’s possible to make you an undead legally." Selina said.
"What about me, Master?" Evelynn pointed at her.
"Enjoy the warmth of life for a while, Evelynn. I will call you when you’re needed. At the moment, me and Selina won’t be going on a case yet." The black cat meowed.
They had quite a lot of things to deal with. They still had one Bronze Bounty left but Mater put it aside for now.
He needed to reinforce himself first. Find a way to reconstruct Bash. Examining the Feather Staff and deciding what to do with it. The fight with the Ascendant also made Mater realize his spell arsenal was too focused on dealing with Wraith. There were forces out of this world.
Forces like the Ascendant. Mater needed to diversify his spell.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.
