Chapter 239: Chapter 239: Psionic

Professor Brown raised his right hand.

"The first thing I want to talk about is Psychic Skill and Psionic. What is the difference between these two terms?"

A student raised their hand, "Is it because Psychic Skill is a lower form of Psionic, sir?"

Professor Brown wagged his finger, "That’s incorrect. Psionic can be much more complex. But if a Psychic has enough power to deform the entire crust of the planet, it won’t matter how complex your Psionic is. Let me explain."

Professor Brown turned on the projector and presented two images.

"These are two images from an NES scanner. One measured the fluctuation of a Psychic using Psychic Skill. While the others used Psionic."

The two images showed two clusters of Chaos. One had Chaos particles in all shapes and sizes. The other had Chaos to conform into a circuit-like pattern.

"You should figure it out by now. The second image belongs to the Psionic. While the first is Psychic Skill.

The ’term’ Psionic was created by Dr. Stephen Avaline’s great ancestor, Dr. Curio Avaline.

Dr. Curio theorized that our mind has a type of energy. At that time, he didn’t figure out what it was. But he suggested that we can manipulate it, transform it, and use it as a type of natural biological source of energy.

Without even finding out the Negative Emotional Spectrum and the Psycho Force, Dr. Curio designed a system to build your mental energy around. This way we can achieve abilities... Superhuman abilities that we normally can’t.

He designed it after the system of electronics and called it Psi-onic, the system to explore and utilize this unknown mental energy."

Professor Brown grabbed a ball of steel.

"I figure everyone in this class must know about Matter Deformation. Matter Deformation is a natural ability of the NES. You don’t need to have great control over the NES to shape a solid object."

As he explained, the steel sphere turned into a steel cube.

"But what if you don’t want to shape it? What if instead of changing it, you want to energize the atoms within this steel sphere and create electricity?

The NES can’t do that alone. You need to apply a Psycho Matrix."

Red lines wrapped around the steel sphere.

The black cat watched everything intensively. He was trying to understand the difference between his spells and this world ’Psionic’.

Christopher Brown was a superb teacher. His simple explanation already told Mater what he wanted to know.

Psionic used Chaos as a form of energy and created a system to use it.

Spell treated Chaos as a primordial force to break the rules of the universe.

Both were valid in their own terms but had very different approaches.

’Chaos might be a very good power source. But treating it as merely energy is foolish. It can do much more than that.’ The black cat yawned and lay on Selina’s lap. It had heard enough.

Mater decided to take a nap on Selina’s warm soft thighs for the rest of the class.

Selina played with the cat belly and whispered, "I thought you already had Erin?"

The black cat opened its eyes briefly then continued to sleep. It simply didn’t care.

"You arrogant bastard..." Selina whispered. She stroked his fur gently and felt his soft body on her.

She couldn’t deny that the cat’s behavior only made her like it more.

The class went on as usual and Professor Brown explained a few more core basics of Psionic. Selina became a hard-working student and noted everything down on her digital notepad.

It’s the future. No one used a notebook anymore.

She also learned the reason why Integrators were so important. The more complex a Psionic Skill was, the harder it would be for the Psychic to use it.

Psychic could use Psychic Skill directly using the Integrator without modifying it. But for complex Psionic, a mind alone was not enough.

Professor Brown showed a few Psycho Matrixes for the class to see. When Selina saw them, she knew that she wouldn’t be able to use them as smoothly as the way she used the basic three Chaos Skills.

Her Integrator didn’t have a digital interface but itself was a piece of hardware. She could connect it to any digital devices she had, including her phone, and modify it or control it in battle.

After the Cast-A class was the Psycho-Blade class.

Psycho-Blade had the second highest number of attended freshmen. This course had only two classes, Blade-A and Blade-B.

However, these two classes weren’t separated because of power level, but because of number. They just shoved enough students into two classes.

Selina saw Ken, Miles, Oscar, and Cole there.

They sat at the same table together.

"How was Psycho-Cast?" Cole asked.

Selina shrugged, "A little bit heavy on the materials. We saw a few Psycho Matrixes but didn’t do much practice."

"I see." Cole nodded.

A new Professor arrived at the classroom.

Professor Brown looked like a dream with his messy brown hair and the face of an adventurer. Professor Abraham looked like a drunkard with his disheveled clothes and alcohol smell under his breath.

This new Professor was a female.

The cat was day-dreaming on Selina’s shoulder. But he smelled it. The smell of a beautiful woman. The small head of the black cat emerged immediately.

"Oh?"

From the door, a matured woman with red hair walked inside.

"Gyatdamn! I love redheads!" The black cat meowed loudly.

That attracted the attention of the professor.

The redhead looked down at the cat. She had a bright red mane for her hair. Her skin was very pale, not as pale as Aurora in her wight form, but very pale for the average person. The professor had faded freckles spanning across her nose and cheeks. Her strong jawline and high cheekbones made her facade look like an aggressive flame.

She fought hard. And loved hard. That was what Mater got from her.

The black cat drooled publicly.

The redhead professor chuckled. She closed Mater’s mouth.

"Your familiar?" She said.

Selina covered her face in shame and nodded.

"He’s a little pervert, ain’t he?"

"Yep." Selina nodded so deep her jaw almost touched the table.

"Can I borrow him for a few days?"

"HELL YEAH!" MATER meowed loudly.

"No way!" Selina said.
