CAT WARLOCK: This Darklord Feasts Upon Horror-Chapter 242: The Luciente
The meeting place was an underground fight club belonging to the Luciente. People came here to watch the most violent and gruesome fight that the usual mainstream sport couldn’t provide.
The entrance to a club was a conspicuous warehouse. Two big bodyguards stood in the front with their sunglasses on.
A simple glance and everyone would know that was something off about it. The Union knew about their existence but they allowed them to exist. As long as the operation of the club didn’t impact civilians.
The two body guards frowned as they watched the two men approaching.
One covered their face entirely by some sort of weird dark fabric. The other wore a revealing suit that looked like some sort of playboy.
"What’s your business here?" A bodyguard said.
"The name is Crow."
"Please go this way." The body guard moved to the side and opened the door for them.
The club inside was dark and had minimal lighting in the audience seat. The only well-lit place was the hexagon cage in the middle. Two Psychics were currently beating the shit out of each other in the cage.
A waitress led Crow to where Tommy and his capos were.
Tommy had five capos. Each with their own vibe and style of appearance. Ben wasn’t one of them.
"So this is the one that Tommy wants us to bet on. He looks like a freak."
"What with that get up? This isn’t the industrial revolution, you know?"
"Why hide your face, men? Are you ugly or something?"
"Shut up. Do not disrespect our guests." Tommy shouted.
The black cat squinted its eyes and grinned. It knew too well what this patriarch was doing.
His capos wouldn’t dare to do such things if Tommy hadn’t given his approval first. They just tried to test Crow.
"Don’t let them disrespect you. You are my messenger." The black cat growled.
Crow opened his hand and summoned the Nether Spear. He threw the spear at the ground of the capos, breaking the floor apart.
"I do not take sarcasm well." Crow said.
A capo stood up, "Who the fuck do you think you are, boy? You are just a Rank-1 Psychic. Each of us here is Rank-2."
Tommy and all the capos were Rank-2. There were six of them. Crow and Sparrow were Rank-1.
But Mater had no worry at all. If Tommy didn’t know better, he could quickly get a lot more Chaos Singularities.
"Don’t back down." The black cat hissed.
Crow turned toward Tommy, "I expect compensation for this attitude. Otherwise, you can forget about the Trial."
Tommy raised his hand. His capo immediately backed down.
"You don’t seem to be intimidated at all, Crow. May I ask why?"
The Adventurous Lute appeared in Sparrow’s hand. As he swiped the strings, the wooden floorboard shot up and created a chair for Crow.
The Abyssal Abomination sat down with ease.
"I am here to talk about business. If you still want to cause me trouble, you will be considered an enemy."
"And what if we are enemies?" Tommy squinted his eyes.
"My Master will kill all of you."
"Heh." Tommy chuckled gently. He understood that he might cross the line.
"I can raise 10% of the promised credits." Tommy said.
"We don’t lack money. Disrespect needs to be repaid in respect."
Crow pointed to each capos that insulted him. "I expect an apology from each of them. Otherwise, you can consider this deal over. And my Master will come for you."
The other capos stood up immediately. Smoke almost came out of their heads. They were a Rank-2 Psychic. A mere Rank-1 spoke like that to them was enough for a death sentence.
Tommy was put in a difficult position. If he told the capos to apologize, he lost the respect of his men. If he didn’t, he brought himself another war.
’I might have done a foolish thing here.’ Tommy sighed.
"Well done, Crow." The black cat meowed, "This mortal doesn’t know his place."
"My men don’t apologize to anyone. But I can assure you that they will show you proper respect from now on." Tommy said.
"Not enough." Crow shook his head.
"20% of the promise credits?"
Crow raised five fingers, "50% and we want another Rank-2 NCE."
Justin negotiated with the Luciente and got Mater a reward of 500,000 credits and two Rank-2 wraiths. It may sound a lot but if the Luciente lost their gambling business, the loss could reach millions.
Rank-2 wraiths on their own could cost a few millions credit. But Mater did say that he didn’t need a high level Rank-2. Low level Rank-2 were around 500,000 to 100,000 credits. So Justin secured a reward of 1,500,000 credits.
50% more of the prized money would be 250,000 credits for a total of 750,000. Another Rank-2 was another 500,000 credits.
Crow was blatantly asked for an additional 750,000 credits as the reward.
"This is too much!" A capo shouted.
Tommy raised his finger. The capo sat down again.
"That’s almost a million in credits. Do you really want to end our beneficial partnership by this tiny misunderstanding?" Tommy said.
Crow stood up. He faced Tommy.
"Do you want to make another enemy because of this tiny misunderstanding?" Crow said.
Tommy squinted his eyes.
"Very well. You are a persuasive man, Crow. 50% additional. That’ll be 750,000 in mobile credits. And we’ll get you three captured Rank-2 Entities. Deal?"
"You can proceed, Crow." The black cat meowed.
Tommy and Crow spat on their hands and shook it.
Crow didn’t have saliva to spit so he only spat out a clump of shadow. But nobody was noticing that.
"My capos would like to know how capable you are in the cage." Tommy said.
"Certainly. It is what I would do." Crow nodded.
Crow looked down at the cage below. The fight from before had ended. The other had his head blown off by a Psychic Skill. People were dragging him off the arena while the janitors quickly cleaned the place.
"Don’t worry. We will arrange a suitable opponent. You won’t be injured. We need you in tip-top shape for the Trial." Tommy said.
"There is no need. I can regenerate."
Crow took his trench coat off. It landed on the ground.
"But I will expect compensation as well." Crow cracked his neck.
Tommy grinned widely, "As you wish."
