CAT WARLOCK: This Darklord Feasts Upon Horror-Chapter 251: Crystallized Emotions

Professor Kovac controlled the steel box via a digital panel built into her table. The steel wall opened up like origami and revealed a glass box inside.

Within the glass box was a questionable animal. The students didn’t know what it was. It looked kind of similar to a rabbit. But its body was also similar to a dog.

It was too small to be a full-grown dog.

It had fur of black with the occasional white strand hear and there. Its fur looked messy like it had never bathed its entire life.

The little beast looked sad with its head lowered deep and its two ears flopped to the side. Some students stood up to have a better look at it.

The little beast lifted its head up. Suddenly, its mouth opened wide. Too wide for its small head. Its head looked like it cracked open.

The black furry beast jumped into the glass wall. Its mouth was full of sharp white teeth and a long tongue that shot out like a snake.

Some students jerked back in response. A few frozen stiff.

Selina squinted her eyes. Her irises turned red in a split second. She scanned the dog-rabbit hybrid and quickly realized that it was a wraith.

"That’s a small wraith." Selina whispered under her breath.

The cat watched everything with great interest. It meowed softly, "That’s because it isn’t a wraith with the human soul. It’s an animal wraith. I don’t know what kind of animal it is though."

"Relax, everyone." Professor Kovac said, "This is a special reinforced glass with NES-resistant material."

Marlene tapped on the glass. The hybrid wraith jumped at her hand but was unable to penetrate the glass wall.

"This is a Despair NCE. As you may have guessed, its main source of power is Despair inside the Negative Emotional Spectrum.

Now, who can tell me how to categorize NES and NCE types?"

A student raised her hand, "Is it color, Professor? Certain colors represent certain emotions. We use that to categorize NES and NCE."

"That’s not wrong. But color is a phenomenon caused by the NES. It’s a result of NES influence. We do not categorize NES by color. Appearance, especially colors, can easily be manipulated." Professor Kovac waved her white chalk in the air. "Who has another theory?"

Another student raised his hand, "I think it’s very simple. We simply categorize them by their behavior. An aggressive NCE is a Fury. A desperate NCE is a Despair."

Professor Kovac shook her head, "Good one. But that theory quickly falls apart when you really think about it. Misery is NCE with Sorrow as their main power. A Misery still attacks you as aggressively as a Fury. So why aren’t they Fury instead?"

Selina finally spoke, "You have already given us the answer already. We categorize NES and NCE types by the source of their power.

A Fury is filled with rage. Rage for vengeance. Rage for malevolence. Rage for something that it couldn’t finish in its life. Fury is a Non-Corporeal Entity that uses anger as its main power.

As for Fury in the Negative Emotions Spectrum. The NES shares the same name as the NCE. But Fury in the NES is the type of emotion. Fury for rage, wrath, anger. While NCE points out which NES it uses."

Professor Kovac did a little clap with her small hands, "Very good, Miss Isles. As expected of the Dark Knight."

Selina swore that the way Professor Kovac looked at her was a little weird. But she didn’t say anything. She secretly scratched Mater’s butt aggressively.

"Hey!" Mater meowed loudly.

"It’s all your fault!" Selina whispered.

"As you heard, NES and NCEs are categorized simply by which emotion it bases on. This is very important in our course.

All of you that are sitting here. Some of you may find success in this class and become an empath. Some may drop out.

I’m going to be honest with everyone. Is Empath Crystallization a hard skill? No. It’s very easy to learn.

But the hard part is whether you can endure the emotion it brings."

Marlene put her hand on the glass box, "This little creature here was a dog in its past life. It stayed with a family that hated it, treated it like trash, and finally they killed it.

They put it in a bag full of trash and throw it down the river. The desperation that the dog felt had fueled its Despair and made it a Despair NCE."

Marlene’s story caused a small commotion throughout the class. Most of the students thought that only humans could create wraiths.

"Actually... We encountered quite a few animal-based enemies before. But I haven’t really thought that animals could become wraiths." Selina whispered to Mater.

"Wraith is a form of existence. As long as a being has consciousness and a soul, it can become a wraith." The black cat meowed.

Marlene continued, "To create an Emotional Gemstone. You will have to feel what this dog has been through. You must collect everything that fueled its Despair and crystalize it by using your own mind.

The crystallization part is very easy.

The hard part is the first one where you need to collect its NES. It will be no big deal the first or the second time. But the more you crystallize, the heavier the weight your heart carries and the more your mind will break. Empath is difficult not because it is complex. It is difficult because it requires a lot from you.

Marlene used Chaos Control and made space for her hand to go through the glass box. Her Chaos leaked out from her pores and created a layer of pink crystal around her hand.

The dog wraith barked at her once then jumped at her hand with its mouth wide open.

The crystalized hand snapped shut like a bear trap and held the wraith still.

"This is just the beginning. By creating this crystalized structure, I will be able to absorb its emotions..." Marlene seemed fine. But she was much more focus and serious than before. Her playful attitude was nowhere to be seen.

"There is a basic skill called Brain Freeze that most of you may already know. This next step is very similar to that skill. All you need to do is to create connections with the wraith in question.

The more connections the better."

Within the crystalized structure of the pink player, thin red strands reached out and plunged inside the dog wraith.
