CAT WARLOCK: This Darklord Feasts Upon Horror-Chapter 277: The Brine
Crow stepped forward and placed a hand on Sol’s shoulder.
"Why don’t I show you?"
The scenery changed and suddenly, they were inside the dark red space where the floating paintings were hovering around.
"What is this space?" Sol looked around in surprise.
"This is the Dark Grimoire. Or rather, a portion of it. This is where Master keeps most of his spells." Crow said.
He pointed toward a painting and it floated over to them. "This is Hellfire’s Sealed Pit. A spell that is compatible with you. It can give you more control on the battlefield."
Sol nodded confusingly. She reached her hand out and touched the painting.
Sol was a level 7 Revenant. She only had enough power to take three spells. While Crow was level 10 and he could take 5 spells.
The internal structure of the spell appeared in Sol’s mind and she was granted the power of using Hellfire’s Sealed Pit.
"This is such a complicated spell. It doesn’t just restrain the enemy but also attack them." Sol said.
"You like that?" Crow said.
Sol nodded her head.
"Good. Take a look at the rest. There are two different kinds of spell. Those are the Rank-1 spells. The brighter paintings are Rank-2. Using Rank-2 spells could take a toll on your body so I suggest taking Rank-1 only." Crow explained.
Sol flew over to the floating paintings and examined one of them. She chose the defensive Elemental Shield and the new Rank-1 spell that Mater hadn’t used that much.
"Alchemist’s Arrow?" Crow said, "Why did you choose that?"
"My attack is very one dimensional. It is Hellfire. I thought that Alchemist’s Arrow might help me deal with enemies that my Hellfire couldn’t deal with. It could use four different kinds of element, Air, Water, Earth, and Fire. A very versatile spell."
"It is indeed."
The entire conversation took less than a minute outside the real world. Both Crow and Sol disconnected their minds and got back to Mater.
"You choose good?" The black cat was licking its paw.
"I did, Master." Sol nodded.
"Let’s go then."
Crow had already broken the barrier previously. The three of them entered the Dimensional Tear.
"Now this is certainly a section from their dimension." The black cat meowed.
Inside the Tear, a vast endless sea with water as clear as crystal. The sky was bright and white. A striking indifferent white that would drive any human soul crazy if they stayed here for too long.
The black cat flew above the water surface. Crow transformed into a crow and flew around in a circle, scouting the area. Sol had her demon wings and she hovered near Mater.
"What is this place?" Solarix said.
The black cat flew closer to the water and tasted it. It stuck its tongue out in a disgusting fashion.
"This is hell." Mater meowed. "The hell of brine."
"What is the hell of brine, Master?" Sol said.
"Hell of brine is a minor hell realm. The three biggest were fire, darkness, and blizzard. Brine was very close to those three but they’re never able to reach the height of the big three." Mater said.
"Does this mean the Void is the hell of Brine?" Crow spoke up from above.
"Not really. This is just one Dimension Tear. There might be other players at the game. Did you find anything, Crow?"
"Nothing on the water surface, Master."
"Then the trigger is probably beneath."
The black looked down. On this side of the Tear, there was a large ritualistic circle at the bottom of the ocean. A huge circle with an octopus head and tentacles in the middle.
"Yup. That is their sigil alright."
The black cat spat out the Abyssal Helmet. A green color enveloped it as it transformed into the black panther the put on the Abyssal Helmet. A dark armor wrapped around the beast.
"Let’s give them a warm welcome."
The Eternal Sword materialized in Mater’s mouth. He started to charge its sword beam. This time, he didn’t use Chaos, he shot Nether Beams directly at it, one after another.
The sword glowed brighter and brighter. Until it was almost made out of purple Nether energy.
The panther slashed into the ocean. The Eternal Sword painted a giant beam in the air. It shot into the ocean, splitting the water into two sides and continued bolting down into the ocean bottom.
A large crack stretched across the large ritual.
Suddenly, the entire water surface trembled. Void Wraiths appeared out of nowhere and surrounded the group. All of them were Rank-1 foot soldiers.
"I left that to you, Crow, Solarix."
"Yes, Master!" They answered in unison.
Crow flew straight at a Void Wraith. He transformed back to his humanoid form to deliver a deathly strike at the wraith before turning back into a crow and continued flying.
Solarix was at a disadvantage. The power of the brine ocean limited her Hellfire.
As she used her Infernal Rays, the explosions were much smaller and less destructive than before. They had the advantage at their home ground.
"It’s lucky I picked a different offensive spell."
Solarix made the motion of shooting a bow. An arrow of pure white appeared. Wind was its structure and Air was its element.
The Revenant released her finger and shot an Air Arrow at the Void Wraiths that were rushing at her. They were all swept backwards.
Then she pulled the string of her imaginary bow again. This time the arrow had a brown color. It jumped out of her hand and entered the nearest Void Wraith.
Earth emerged from the point of contact and wrapped around the pure wraith.
"Now my Infernal Rays will work!"
Solarix connected the arrow with a hellfire beam. Once the beam touch the dirt ball, it exploded into a large explosion that hurt every wraith around.
The brine caused her Hellfire to be weaker. But the Alchemist’s Earth Arrow neutralized that.
Mater had just finished another charge. He swung the Nether Sword at the ritual circle. A second crack appeared across the ritual.
Suddenly, a green magic circle appeared on the water surface. Tentacles shot out from it and opened up a portal door.
"The Boss finally comes." Mater grinned.
