Celestial Human Diagram-Chapter 149 - 133: Besiege
The blood flow and breathing of everyone around him, as well as the vectors of their various powers, were all transmitted to Qi Sai’s enhanced Mutated Organization.
Every individual’s physical changes appeared clearly in his mind. He had a firm grasp on the movements of everyone in the vicinity.
Among these people, Chen Chuan was not the most prominent, but he was the most stable.
Almost unnaturally so.
In such an environment, anyone would feel nervous, fearful, agitated, or excited. Yet Chen Chuan displayed none of these emotions. He was like a placid lake; even if the occasional ripple appeared, it was only on the surface, leaving the depths completely undisturbed.
This immediately captured his full attention.
He saw Chen Chuan approach with his blade, gradually entering his range. He readied his whip hand and, with a powerful flick, sent the whip lashing toward Chen Chuan.
Chen Chuan didn’t dodge like Wei Chang’an had. Using his blade to cut or block the whip would have been a poor choice. Instead, he stared intently at the direction of force from his opponent’s arm. The instant Qi Sai swung, Chen Chuan suddenly reached out. With a loud CRACK, he actually caught the tip of the whip in his hand!
He could see that a large part of his Second Self’s forearm had become ethereal, almost disappearing. ’It’s clear the whip holds enough power to shatter a human limb. Without the Second Self, the point of contact would have resulted in shattered bones and flying flesh and blood.’
Qi Sai was stunned. He had never encountered someone who would catch a whip strike head-on with their bare hands—especially not at the very tip, where the force was fully concentrated.
He immediately tried to yank the whip, judging that even if his opponent managed to catch it, the point of contact must have sustained an impact. This would likely throw off Chen Chuan’s center of gravity. But as he pulled, an equal force met his, coming from the other end. Not only did he fail to pull Chen Chuan over, but he himself was slightly thrown off balance.
He knew at once that something was wrong. As expected, in the instant his balance shifted, Chen Chuan’s eyes narrowed. He leaped forward, thrusting his blade straight at Qi Sai’s chest.
Fortunately, there was still some distance between them. Qi Sai quickly adjusted his footing, sidestepping to dodge. With his other hand, he drew a short baton from his waist to block the subsequent diagonal slash, using the force of the impact to retreat rapidly.
Chen Chuan twisted his wrist, spun his blade, and stepped forward, following up with an overhead slash. Qi Sai, holding the whip’s handle in one hand, used the short baton in his other to wrap around the whip’s body. He yanked it diagonally upward, pulling the whip taut to block the blade’s path.
The whip was made of some unknown material, incredibly resilient; the blade only sank in slightly when it struck. Qi Sai seemed to have anticipated this. The instant he blocked the blow, he quickly twirled the baton, attempting to use the long whip to ensnare the blade.
It was the first time Chen Chuan had ever seen such a coordinated fighting style using a whip and baton. Instead of trying to pull his blade free, he pushed it forward. With a slight adjustment of the hilt during the motion, he aimed the tip directly at his opponent’s head.
Seeing the blade thrusting at him, Qi Sai quickly yanked the whip to divert it. But then he saw a flicker of movement—Chen Chuan had released the Snow Monarch Blade and darted in close, throwing a punch at his head. The move was incredibly fast, as if he had instantly closed the distance between them.
Qi Sai raised the hand holding the whip handle, attempting to use the taut whip to block the punch. However, Chen Chuan bent his arm, changing the punch to an elbow strike. He drove it through the opening created by Qi Sai’s raised arm, striking him squarely in the chest!
Qi Sai was wearing fairly thick Protective Clothing. However, the force Chen Chuan used this time was not a Penetrating Force, but a shoving one, powerful enough to knock him off balance.
But Qi Sai’s response to the blow was exceptional. In that instant, his body seemed to split into two independent parts. His lower half remained firmly planted, feet gripping the ground, while his upper body became extremely pliable. The shoving force merely caused his chest to cave inward, failing to move his entire body.
Chen Chuan sensed this change in his body. He suddenly took another step forward, placing his foot behind Qi Sai’s leg. At the same time, he leaned his body forward and unleashed a sudden burst of Power. This time, Qi Sai could no longer hold his ground and stumbled backward.
Just then, he sensed Wei Chang’an aiming his gun at him from the side. While still in mid-air, he used his Mutated Organization to twist his body. Two shots rang out, BANG! BANG!, and both bullets struck him in the back. However, this also meant he couldn’t correct his fall, and he slammed sideways onto the ground.
Most of his attention was still fixed on Chen Chuan. He glimpsed Chen Chuan retrieving his Long Blade and preparing to advance. He immediately rolled to the side, preparing to get up. But before he could rise, he suddenly sensed something was wrong. At almost the same instant, a muffled gunshot echoed in his ears.
By the time he realized what had happened, he saw that the lower half of his leg had been blown off.
On a distant watchtower, Wei Chang’an’s teammate pulled the bolt of his Crushing Rifle, ejecting the spent casing. He aimed at Qi Sai once more, but in his sights, the figure suddenly ducked into a nearby tent. The sniper involuntarily cursed in disappointment. It had been a rare opportunity when Qi Sai moved into a well-lit area, which was the only reason he had been able to land that shot.
