Chapter 35: Chapter 35: Mountain Summit

Phoenix Head Mountain, also known as Chicken Head Mountain, is named after a rock at its summit shaped like a chicken’s head, and is one of the hundreds of unremarkable peaks in Celestial Plate Mountain.

This mountain has not been developed, its trails are difficult to distinguish and narrow, winding, with weeds and shrubs growing on both sides.

Even during the tourism peak season, Phoenix Head Mountain is rarely visited. Now that winter has arrived, with fierce cold winds, it is even more deserted.

"Move!" 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦

"Hurry up!"

Da Wei shoved Fang Zheng, urging him forward.

The other two people followed behind leisurely, not at all concerned, even the pistol was holstered, occasionally whispering something.

They were not speaking a common language, it seemed to be some minor language, the speech was rapid and somewhat excited.

Fang Zheng lowered his head, seemingly unreactive but actually absorbing the surroundings completely, his not-so-agile mind racing.

How to create an opportunity?

Escape!

He hadn’t thought about fighting.

After all, life is singular, and they have guns in hand. Fortunately, Da Wei and the other two were not part of the same gang.

There were two gangs in total.

His kidnapping was Da Wei and Sister Lianlian’s idea, the others just cooperated, completely uninterested in Fang Zheng himself.

This was good.

It meant before Sister Lianlian arrives, he wouldn’t be harmed.

"Move faster!"

Da Wei urged again.

Near the summit, there were three wooden cabins, rudimentary structures with visibly rotted roof planks, one covered in moss.

"Qiao!"

"Owen!"

A person stepped forward:

"The goods have arrived."

"Oh!" Owen’s eyes brightened, hastily stepped forward:

"Where?"

"Inside." The newcomer pointed inside:

"Thirty kilograms."

"Good!" Qiao smiled:

"Young Master Wang truly keeps his word, though he might not even be surnamed Wang. Dave, is the return route arranged?"

"Almost ready." Dave said:

"We can definitely depart within two days."

The three chatted, entering one of the cabins, through the open door a black briefcase could be seen on the table inside.

"What are you staring at?" Da Wei pushed Fang Zheng towards another cabin:

"Get inside!"

Inside, the floor was dusty, and webs covered the corners. After pushing Fang Zheng down and tying his legs, Da Wei also pulled a gold necklace from him.

"Oh!"

"Didn’t expect an unexpected gain today?"

Without hesitating, Da Wei pocketed the necklace, glanced sideways:

"Mr. Fang, didn’t expect you’d end up here, right? Weren’t you brave on that day? Where’s that aura now?"

He said, patting Fang Zheng’s face disdainfully.

"Do you know what you’re doing?" Fang Zheng clutched his voice:

"Robbing someone’s property, restricting personal freedom..."

"Tsk tsk!"

Da Wei shook his head, clicking his tongue:

"Looks like you understand what’s happening?"

"Let me tell you a truth, never underestimate a woman’s anger, especially a disfigured one. Restricting personal freedom? You think you can get down the mountain?"

"What do you mean?" Fang Zheng’s eyes shrank:

"You dare to commit murder?"

"Murder?" Da Wei’s eyes widened, his face fierce:

"Do you know what those three just now do? They specialize in solving problems for rich people, including getting paid to kill!"

"Coming here today, you should forget about leaving."

"The cliff behind is high, the depth below is vast, disposing of a body is very convenient."

"..."

Fang Zheng’s face darkened, he remained silent.

He anticipated this, but hearing the answer still stirred him. This wasn’t Otherworld; murder was something distant.

Unthinkable,

it would one day be so close to him!

"Heh..."

Da Wei snorted, standing up, stretching his limbs, heading out, casually saying:

"I heard you recently got a girlfriend? That necklace was for her, right?"

"Swish!"

Fang Zheng suddenly raised his head.

"What kind of look is that?" Da Wei lifted an eyebrow, amused by the intensity in Fang Zheng’s eyes, said with a grin:

"Want me to bring her over too?"

"Then you could be a pair of lovebirds, even in the afterlife? As long as I ask, Sister Lianlian would definitely fulfill your wish."

"After all, it’s easy for them to nab one or two people."

Fang Zheng stayed silent.

Just as Da Wei was about to leave.

"Damn!"

A cold voice emerged.

"Hmm?" Da Wei’s face sunk, slowly turned around, emphasized:

"What did you say?"

"Say it again!"

"Why?" Fang Zheng raised his head, icy gaze:

"Didn’t hear well, want to hear again?"

"You’re seeking death!" Da Wei cursed furiously, stepping forward and delivered a hard slap.

"Snap!"

The slap landed squarely on Fang Zheng’s face.

"Heh..." Fang Zheng’s body remained unmoved, showed disdain:

"That’s all the strength you have?"

"Damn it!"

Da Wei roared angrily, lunging forward.

At that moment.

Fang Zheng’s eyes widened, his entire body suddenly lunged forward, bound feet kicking against the ground, his body moving like an agile snake.

Snake Grass!

In a flash, he was behind Da Wei, arms reaching downwards, one arm winding around Da Wei’s throat, both fell backwards.

Single-arm chokehold!

Massive force clamped down on Da Wei’s throat, cutting off blood circulation.

"Ugh...ugh..."

"Boom!"

Da Wei’s face flushed, eyes reddened, hands tried pulling Fang Zheng’s arm, legs kicking the ground, struggling to break free.

But...

Fang Zheng’s arm firmly blocked Da Wei’s carotid arteries, stopping blood from reaching the brain, not allowing a sound.

Within moments, Da Wei’s eyes unfocused, nearing unconsciousness.

"Don’t move!"

"Don’t move!"

"Yes, just like that..."

Fang Zheng’s voice was cold and slow, watching Da Wei struggle and twitch, without a trace of release.

Until Da Wei completely stopped breathing, he waited a little longer before slowly letting go.

Glancing at the dead body, Fang Zheng’s eyes flickered, then became like still water, found something sharp on Da Wei to cut the ties.

Dusting off his clothes, rising to his feet, he expressionlessly pushed open the door.

"Woo..."

High winds swirled, carrying fallen leaves across the ground.

The three wooden cabins lay near the summit, ancient trees grew haphazardly, swaying in the wind.

Not far, on a stump, rested a rusty short axe, unused for ages.

Inside the central cabin, Owen, Qiao, and Dave’s voices echoed.

Fang Zheng twisted his neck, stepped towards the stump, pulled out the two-ruler-long short axe, weighed it in his hand.

Feeling it a bit cumbersome, he set down the axe, unclasped his suit jacket.

He hung the jacket on a nearby branch, pocketed his pocket watch, picked up the short axe and moved towards the cabin deliberately.

Throughout this, his expression didn’t shift.

Calm as still waters.

Heh...

Focusing on the cabin, Fang Zheng glanced up at the sky, thoughtful.

The next moment.

His body suddenly charged, like a launched cannonball crashing into the door.

The door thin and fragile.

Instantly.

"Boom!"

The door splintered, wood debris scattered, revealing three men inside.

Three men!

One gun!

Time seemed to slow as he burst through the door, the scene inside captured clearly, the short axe in hand whizzing ahead.

Aiming straight at Qiao’s pistol-holstered waist.
