CEO Ex-Husband, Don't Bother Me-Chapter 120 - 118: Come Back with Me 1
"Alright, alright, I won’t force you. I’ll wait until you’ve figured things out!"
"Naomi... Naomi..."
"Naomi Shaw!"
Unfortunately, she didn’t react. Her drunken behavior was just as well-behaved and quiet as when she was sober. No matter how much he desired her, he couldn’t force himself on a woman who was dead drunk.
But it was actually a good thing she got herself this drunk. At least she wouldn’t be thinking about leaving tonight. Even if they didn’t do anything, just holding her for a night would be nice.
After Julian Donovan finally got Naomi Shaw settled and then took care of his own problem, he went downstairs for dinner as if nothing had happened. The two little ones had already finished eating. Dylan, acting like a little adult, was gently wiping Joy’s hands with a wet wipe. Seeing only Julian come down, he couldn’t help but frown. "Where’s my mom?"
"She’s asleep!"
Julian replied as he leisurely sat down at the dining table. Dylan’s voice instantly shot up. "Asleep? What did you do to her?"
Spurred by Dylan’s reaction, Joy also blinked her dark eyes and looked at him. Julian spread his hands. "What could I do to a woman who’s dead drunk?"
’He actually did want to do something to her.’
"Dead drunk? Julian Donovan, you got my mom drunk?"
Dylan’s frown deepened, and Joy’s gaze was now tinged with resentment. Julian glared at Dylan, his expression hardening. "Dylan Donovan, who taught you to be so quick to jump to conclusions?"
Even though Dylan acted like a little adult all day, he was still scared when Julian got this serious. He just pressed his lips together and remained silent. With a stern face, Julian said,
"Couldn’t she have snatched my drink and gotten drunk on her own?"
Dylan didn’t speak, and Joy also watched him quietly. Julian said seriously to Dylan,
"Not everything is as you assume it to be. There will always be things that are unexpected. So, you need to be patient. Don’t jump to conclusions until the truth is revealed!"
Although Dylan had been more mature than other kids his age since he was little, and Julian rarely had to worry about him, he was still just a child. Julian usually used this method to teach him about life or the rules of the business world. The biggest advantage of having such a genius son was that he could retire early and confidently hand over the business to him.
Dylan acknowledged him.
"I know. But if Mom is drunk, what about Joy?"
Julian glanced at Joy, who was staring intently at him. He lifted her into his arms and said softly, 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
"Joy, is it okay if you stay here tonight? Let your big brother Dylan take you to bed, okay?"
Joy nodded obediently. Joy looked so much like her mother; she was a complete miniature version of her, with picturesque features and a gentle, placid temperament. He couldn’t resist kissing her little cheek. To his surprise, she wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him back. Her soft, small lips pressed against his cheek, and his heart instantly melted into a puddle.
Dylan said to Joy,
"Joy, how about I take you to play for a little while first, and then we’ll go to sleep, okay?"
Joy nodded. Julian set her down, and Dylan took her small hand as they left together. Julian watched the two little figures, one big and one small, one boy and one girl, and sighed inwardly. ’How wonderful it would be if both of these children were his!’ He wasn’t without his suspicions about Joy. But ever since she told him that she’d gotten drunk and ended up with Sean Donovan, resulting in Joy, he hadn’t had the courage to investigate further.
After finishing dinner, he returned to his bedroom. Her phone started ringing. It was Sean Donovan. He hesitated, feeling he shouldn’t answer her phone without permission, so after letting it ring through once, he turned it off. A moment later, his own phone rang. He glanced at the unfamiliar number, sneered, and answered. Sean Donovan’s voice came through the receiver.
"Julian Donovan, is she with you?"
He confirmed Sean Donovan’s suspicion.
"Since you already know, why bother asking?"
Sean Donovan sneered.
"Julian Donovan, do you think this will make her come back to you? You of all people should be well aware that it takes more than one cold day for a river to freeze three feet deep."
"No matter how deeply her heart is frozen, as long as she’s here with me, I will wait for it to melt. I’m sure you’ve noticed... what she feels for you... isn’t love, is it?"
Julian admitted that Sean Donovan’s words had hit a nerve. It was true that he had hurt her deeply in the past. But he believed his own words were no small blow to Sean Donovan either. As expected, he heard Sean Donovan’s voice turn cold.
"I won’t let your acquisition plan succeed!"
He chuckled softly.
"Then bring it on. I’m ready whenever you are. But let me end with a piece of friendly advice: You may have gotten everything else from the Donovan family, but you will never have the woman you love!"
He had thought he’d get a good night’s sleep holding her, but he ended up working himself up so much that he couldn’t sleep at all. It took a great effort to finally force himself to drift off.
She gently rubbed her temples with her fingers. A man’s lazy, sleepy voice sounded in her ear.
"A headache is the price you pay for a night of hard liquor. And you still tried to get up so fast!"
Only then did she suddenly remember what she’d done last night. She slapped away the large hand rubbing her forehead. Enduring the headache, she clutched the blanket and sat up, glaring at the culprit beside her.
"Julian Donovan, you have the nerve to talk? You’re the one who asked me to drink with you!"
"I said I wanted you to drink with me, but I didn’t tell you to drink my drink!"
"Julian Donovan, you... you..."
He reached out, grabbed her slender fingers, and pulled her into his arms. His large hand came up and authoritatively resumed rubbing her forehead as he said innocently,
"What about me? I didn’t do a thing!"
Was that sweet for you all? Hehe.
"If you didn’t do anything, then where are my clothes?"
Unaffected, he continued to hold her and slowly massage her head.
"Don’t tell me you don’t remember?"
Naomi Shaw’s face instantly turned bright red. She vaguely remembered doing something that reckless last night. It was all that drink’s fault. The alcohol had muddled her brain, and then he provoked her with his words, so in a fit of anger, she just did it.
"Alright, my head doesn’t hurt anymore. Thanks!"
’She shouldn’t crave this kind of warmth. She was afraid that this brief moment of tenderness would be followed by another long period of cold indifference. During the years they were together, he would occasionally offer these small comforts, but they were always followed by his extended coldness and neglect.’
As she spoke, she tried to push him away, but with a shift of his long legs and a reach of his long arm, he trapped her in his arms again. His eyes stared at her intently, his gaze scorching hot. "Where do you think you can run to?"
"I’m not in the mood for..."
He reached up and brushed the messy strands of hair from her forehead, revealing her delicate, beautiful face completely to him. Then, caressing her smooth cheek, he chuckled softly.
"Did I say I wanted to?"
’Although he really wanted to. But her rejection was so obvious.’
His comment left Naomi Shaw utterly mortified. That, combined with the complex emotions swirling in his eyes, made her turn away to protest, "Then why don’t you let me go?"
"If we can’t ’do it,’ then you should at least give me some other benefits, right?"
As his words faded, his lips descended...
Naomi Shaw was forced to sink into the moment with him. A rhythmic knock came from the door, followed by Dylan’s calm voice. "Julian Donovan, it’s time to get up!"
Then came Joy’s childish voice, "Mommy—"
Julian, lying on top of her, was forced to stop. Annoyed, he turned his head and shouted toward the door, "We’re getting up now! Take Joy downstairs first!"
"I need to hear Mommy’s voice first!"
Dylan’s voice was firm. Deeply embarrassed, Naomi Shaw quickly pushed Julian off her, clutched the blanket as she sat up, and called out to the door, "Dylan, Mommy’s fine! I’ll be down in a minute!"
"Oh!"
Only then was Dylan reassured, and he led Joy away.
Furious and annoyed, Naomi Shaw shot a harsh glare at Julian, who was clearly in a good mood. She then bent over to pick up her clothes, which were scattered on the carpet by the bed. As she reached out, she suddenly realized the ring on her hand was gone. Her heart skipped a beat, and she turned to ask Julian, "Where’s my ring?"
’Could it be that last night, when she was drunk, she not only took off her clothes but also took off the ring? That ring was quite valuable, after all. If she lost it just like that, it would be a huge sign of disrespect to Sean Donovan.’
