Chapter 49: 49. A romantic day
Isaac had been at it for three days straight—stalking his little brother Adrian from afar, peering through his newly acquired telescopes. He had been growing increasingly protective, and perhaps a little obsessive, after learning about Adrian’s miserable life with the Hudel family. Now, perched in his high vantage point, Isaac watched as a doctor with blonde hair and striking golden eyes entered the Levistis Manor, presumably to check on Adrian.
His eyes narrowed as he observed the man fussing over Adrian. "Who’s that?" Isaac muttered to himself, feeling a strange surge of protectiveness. Without wasting another second, he quickly dialed Luri’s number. free𝑤ebnovel.com
The phone barely rang once before Luri picked up. "What now, Isaac?" she sighed, already expecting one of his wild requests.
"I need you to find out who this doctor is. The blonde one. Golden eyes. He’s with Adrian right now, checking him up at the Levistis Manor," Isaac said, not wasting time on pleasantries.
Luri groaned loudly on the other end of the line. "Oh, for heaven’s sake, Isaac! If you’re going to make stalking a full-time job, maybe you should do it yourself and not drag me into your creepy habits."
Isaac rolled his eyes. "You’re always so dramatic. I’m not stalking, I’m protecting my little brother. Big difference, Luri."
"Protecting, my foot," Luri snapped. "You’re just obsessed. Do you want me to start calling you Big Brother Creeper?"
"Ha-ha, very funny," Isaac said sarcastically. "Look, I’m not asking you to do much. Just a little background check on this doctor. Get me his details, everything you can dig up."
Luri scoffed, "Do I look like your personal investigator now? What do you even want with this guy? Jealous of his golden eyes? Going to steal his hair care routine next?"
Isaac smirked, though she couldn’t see it. "You’re not my personal investigator. You’re just my unlucky friend who happens to have a knack for finding dirt on people. And besides, it’s not jealousy. I just don’t trust anyone around Adrian."
"Isaac, seriously, you’ve gone from vigilante hero to creepy older brother real fast. How about you get a hobby that doesn’t involve stalking family members?"
"Don’t test me, Luri. You know I’ve got plenty of dirt on you." His tone shifted, becoming dangerously teasing. "For instance, I could always tell your current boyfriend about those... what was it? Ten? Oh yeah, ten ex-boyfriends you never mentioned."
There was a pause. "You wouldn’t dare!" Luri hissed.
Isaac grinned wickedly. "Watch me."
"You absolute coward! Blackmailing me? That’s low, even for you!"
"Low or not, it works every time, doesn’t it?" Isaac taunted. "Now, are you going to help me or should I start drafting my message to your boyfriend?"
Luri growled, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "Fine! But I hope you know that someday karma’s going to hit you so hard, you’ll wish you hadn’t crossed me."
"Love you too, Luri. Call me when you have the info." Isaac ended the call with a satisfied smirk, knowing full well she’d pull through for him. It wasn’t long before his phone beeped with a confirmation message from her. She hated to lose.
Back at the Levistis Manor...
Downstairs, the manor was filled with lively voices. Lucas, the doctor, was doing a check-up on Adrian while Ethan hovered nearby, seemingly concerned about everything except his own well-being.
"Hold still, Adrian," Lucas said, holding his stethoscope to Adrian’s chest. "You’re perfectly healthy, but with twins on the way, you need to take extra care of yourself."
Adrian gave him a soft, grateful smile, but Ethan wasn’t so easily placated. "What about his diet? Is he getting enough nutrients? Shouldn’t he be taking more supplements or something?" Ethan asked, anxiously pacing the room.
Lucas sighed and shot Ethan a look. "Ethan, I’m the doctor here, not you. Adrian is fine. He’s healthier than you at this point. Speaking of which, how’s your hand?"
Ethan waved dismissively. "It’s nothing, just a small cut."
Lucas smirked. "A small cut? You nearly sliced your hand open. Let me see it."
Ethan frowned but held out his bandaged hand reluctantly. Lucas took one look at it and shook his head. "Unbelievable. You should’ve come to me earlier. You could’ve gotten an infection."
"It’s fine," Ethan grumbled, pulling his hand back. "I don’t need your scolding, Lucas."
Lucas raised an eyebrow. "Oh, I’m not scolding. I’m just pointing out that you’re reckless. What would Adrian do if you got sick?"
Adrian glanced between them, amused by their bickering. "He’s right, Ethan. You need to take care of yourself too."
Ethan rolled his eyes, but the corner of his mouth quirked into a smile. "I’ll be fine. But don’t worry—I’ll listen to the doctor this time." He threw a playful wink at Adrian, who blushed lightly.
Meanwhile, upstairs, Leclair was reclining in his bedroom, his legs propped up as Augustin gently massaged them. The two had grown accustomed to their quiet moments together, and today was no different.
"You’ve gotten better at this," Leclair remarked with a smile as Augustin’s fingers worked out the tension in his muscles.
"I’ve had plenty of practice," Augustin replied, his eyes softening as he looked at Leclair. "Besides, I enjoy it. It gives me an excuse to take care of you."
Leclair chuckled lightly. "We’ve come a long way, haven’t we?"
Augustin nodded, a look of contentment on his face. "We have. For the first time in a long time, I feel like... we have a real home."
Leclair’s expression softened at those words. "That’s because we do. We’ve made a family here, and it’s only going to grow."
As they shared their quiet moment, the lively sounds of Ethan and Lucas bickering downstairs floated through the air.
Augustin smiled and whispered, "It’s nice to hear the house so full of life again."
Leclair nodded, his eyes filled with warmth. "Yes, it is. And I’m glad we’re a part of it."
Back downstairs, Ethan finally sat down next to Adrian, still rubbing his hand where Lucas had just bandaged it.
"Honestly, you’re worse than a kid," Lucas teased. "Take care of that hand."
Ethan rolled his eyes again. "Yeah, yeah. Just take care of Adrian, will you?"
As Lucas gave a mock salute and left, Ethan leaned closer to Adrian, his hand resting lightly on Adrian’s stomach. "How are the babies doing?"
Adrian smiled, his hand covering Ethan’s. "They’re fine. I’m more worried about you."
Ethan kissed Adrian’s temple softly. "Don’t worry about me. I’m here for you."
--
Late at night, when the couple were having their own time. (A/N: Skip it if you want.)
Ethan’s breath grew ragged, his chest rising and falling heavily against Adrian’s as he nibbled gently on the soft lobe of Adrian’s ear. The sensation sent shivers down Adrian’s spine, causing him to arch his back slightly and press his swollen belly closer to Ethan’s firm chest. Ethan’s hand slid down to rest gently on Adrian’s stomach, feeling the gentle flutter of their baby’s movements beneath the warm, taught skin.
His eyes filled with love and desire as he deepened the kiss, his tongue dancing with Adrian’s in a passionate rhythm that mirrored the love they shared. Adrian’s own hand found its way to the back of Ethan’s neck, pulling him closer as if afraid to let even a whisper of air come between them.
Ethan’s lips trailed down from Adrian’s ear to kiss the sensitive nape of his neck, each gentle peck eliciting a low moan from Adrian that grew in intensity. The sound of his husband’s pleasure sent a jolt of desire through Ethan, making his own body respond in kind. His erection grew firm against Adrian’s thigh, and the realization of how much his love affected him filled Ethan with a sense of primal need.
Adrian’s body was like a symphony of reactions to Ethan’s touch; a soft sigh as he kissed the top of a collarbone, a shiver as his teeth grazed the skin above the swell of a nipple, and a deep, wanton moan as Ethan’s mouth found its way to the soft valley between Adrian’s breasts.
Each sound was a sweet note that resonated through Ethan, heightening his arousal and making him eager to explore further. His hand drifted from Adrian’s belly to the firm mound of his breast, his thumb flicking over the sensitive peak. Adrian’s breath caught, his body arching into the touch, and Ethan felt his heart swell with love and lust for the man who bore their child.
"Ethan," Adrian breathed out, his voice a mix of need and desperation, "I want you inside me."
Ethan’s eyes searched Adrian’s, seeing the raw longing reflected in the depths of his gaze. He knew his husband was referring to their earlier conversation about the physical limitations of their love-making during this delicate time. With a gentle sigh, Ethan leaned back slightly, his hand moving from Adrian’s breast to intertwine with the one that rested on his erection. "I know, baby," he murmured, his voice thick with desire, "but we need to be careful."
Instead of pushing the issue, Ethan took Adrian’s hand in his own and brought it to his own hardened length. "Let’s do this together," he suggested, his voice a low rumble of passion. With a nod, Adrian eagerly wrapped his fingers around Ethan’s shaft, his thumb tracing the vein that pulsed with every beat of Ethan’s heart. Ethan’s eyes closed momentarily at the touch, his hips jerking slightly.
Each stroke of Adrian’s hand brought Ethan closer to the edge, and each time Ethan gasped, Adrian felt a jolt of pleasure through his own body, his own arousal growing by the second.
The room was filled with the sounds of their harsh breathing and the soft rustling of the sheets as they moved together. Ethan’s eyes remained closed, lost in the sensation of Adrian’s hand on him, but Adrian watched him intently, drinking in the sight of his dominant partner’s vulnerability. Their eyes met again, and in that moment, the love between them was palpable, a living, breathing entity that filled the space around them. Ethan’s hand tightened on Adrian’s, guiding him faster, harder, until Ethan’s body tensed and he released a guttural groan, his climax spilling over them both.
Panting, Ethan leaned in to press a soft, lingering kiss to Adrian’s lips, tasting the salt of his sweat and the sweetness of their shared passion. "Thank you," he whispered, his voice hoarse with emotion. Adrian’s cheeks flushed pink.
Just as the passion between them built to a fevered peak, a sharp knock at the window startled them both.
Ethan paused mid-movement, his gaze snapping toward the source of the sound. Adrian, flushed and wide-eyed, blinked in confusion. "What was that?" Adrian whispered breathlessly, his heart pounding for an entirely different reason now.
Ethan’s jaw clenched with frustration, clearly annoyed at the interruption. "Stay here," he growled, untangling himself from the sheets and getting up. Wearing nothing but his boxers, he stormed toward the window, his protective instinct kicking in.
Adrian, still blushing from their intimate moment, sat up and watched Ethan with concern. He tugged on Ethan’s oversized T-shirt—one that swallowed his slender frame, covering him down to his hips—and slowly moved closer, not wanting to be left alone.
Ethan unlocked the window and flung it open with a swift pull, but when he looked outside, there was nothing. No sound, no movement. Just the stillness of the night. He stood there, his bare chest heaving slightly with lingering annoyance. "Damn it," he muttered, running a hand through his tousled hair. He was about to close the window and return to Adrian when a sudden loud crack echoed through the room.
The windowpane, under a second unseen assault, splintered and cracked. Ethan’s entire body went rigid, his instincts kicking in as he quickly stepped back. Adrian, now fully alert, moved toward Ethan, his hand instinctively resting on his slightly swollen stomach as he stood just behind him.
Without a second thought, Ethan pulled Adrian into his arms, shielding him protectively as they both looked at the broken glass.
"Who the hell is out there?" Ethan growled, anger flaring in his eyes. Adrian clung to him, still a little dazed, but more worried about Ethan’s sudden change in mood.
Outside the window, hidden in the shadows, a small but chaotic scene was unfolding.
Isaac, barely being restrained by Luri and Jay, was furiously trying to break free. His gaze was fixed on the window where his little brother had been—desperation and rage boiling inside him. "Let me go!" he hissed, struggling in their hold. "I need to get Adrian out of there! That beast has him!"
Luri rolled her eyes, holding onto Isaac’s arm with barely concealed exasperation. "Isaac, for the love of sanity, will you stop acting like a deranged psycho for once?"
"Shut up, Luri!" Isaac snapped, pulling his arm away, only for Jay to grab him by the back of his jacket. "They broke the window! I need to get in there!"
Luri’s voice dripped with sarcasm. "Oh yes, because breaking into their house in the middle of the night, during their intimate moment, is such a reasonable thing to do. Do you hear yourself?"
Isaac glared at her, his temper flaring. "You don’t understand! He’s my little brother, and that beast—"
"That beast," Luri cut in with a mocking tone, "happens to be his husband. And need I remind you, Adrian seems pretty happy? You, on the other hand, are creeping around like some kind of voyeur. Just leave it alone!"
Isaac’s fists clenched, his voice lowering dangerously. "I’m not letting him suffer like I did. If you won’t help me, I’ll do it myself!"
Jay, ever the silent observer, finally stepped in. "Boss, with all due respect, this isn’t the way. If you break that window and storm in there, it’s only going to make things worse."
Isaac shot Jay a dark look but didn’t respond immediately. His gaze flicked back toward the window, where he could faintly make out Ethan holding Adrian close. That sight alone made his blood boil, but the rational part of him knew Jay was right. If he caused a scene now, it would only push Adrian further away.
Luri smirked, satisfied that Jay had managed to calm Isaac, at least for the moment. "Smart thinking, Isaac. Maybe next time try knocking on the door like a normal person."
Isaac grumbled under his breath but eventually relented. "Fine. But I’m not giving up."
Luri scoffed, pulling him back by his jacket as they retreated into the shadows. "I didn’t expect you would."
The three of them moved away from the mansion, Isaac still fuming as Luri continued her sarcastic commentary. "Honestly, between the broken windows and your obsession with watching people through telescopes, you’re becoming a real problem."
Isaac retorted sharply, "I’m doing what I have to do. You wouldn’t understand."
"Oh, I understand perfectly," Luri said with a smirk. "You’re a crazy older brother who doesn’t know how to let go."
Back in the room, Ethan carefully guided Adrian back to the bed, his protective instincts still on high alert. Adrian, though shaken, smiled gently at him. "It’s okay, Ethan. I’m fine."
Ethan wrapped his arms around Adrian’s waist, pulling him close. "I’ll never let anything happen to you," he whispered, pressing a soft kiss to Adrian’s forehead. "I’ll protect you, always."
Adrian leaned into his embrace, feeling safe in his arms. "I know."
