CEO's Contract Obsession-Chapter 187: Grieving

Henry took another burning branch and waved it with arms stretched wide as the Robinson R66 flew over him. It turned around before hovering over the shore. The helicopter dropped two thick ropes followed by two fast-roping people with bags on their backs before the chopper went away.

The two approached Henry and when they came closer he dropped the burning branches that he was holding and covered his face to release that one last sob as he thanked all the gods that he called and prayed upon.

"Oh, God, thank you, thank you!" Henry exclaimed.

"Boss! Are you hurt? Is that your blood on your shirt?" Mitch worriedly asked.

"No, it’s Amy’s, let’s hurry," he then ran and lead them to their camp.

When Mitch saw Amy, she immediately understood what happened, "Dave, blanket!"

Dave immediately covered Amy with a wool blanket while Mitch took out her medical kit and prepared a vial and syringe.

Henry watched Mitch extract the liquid from the vial as he sat beside Amy, "What is that?"

"This is tranexamic acid boss, this will help with the bleeding and it’s safe for her condition, just in case," Mitch said before injecting the drug into Amy’s arm.

"I understand," Henry mumbled as he put both hands on his face. He wanted to cry out loud, he wanted to scream, he wanted to punch something.

He felt so angry at himself for what happened to Amy, "If only I checked the jet myself before leaving, this would not have happened." 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

Dave grasped Henry’s shoulder with sadness in his eyes. He had never seen his boss in such a state before and he couldn’t help but feel sorry for him.

"She will be fine boss. Rei and Ava are on their way here together with the coastguards. They have doctors on board," that was the least he can do, Dave thought. Assuring Henry that medical help is on its way can at least lessen the anxiety and sorrow that his boss is feeling.

"Her heartbeat is fast and her blood pressure is dropping, she needs blood A.S.A.P," Mitch called out to the radio after checking Amy’s vitals.

"Oh, God!" Henry who heard Mitch started to tremble once more which Dave saw.

"Mitch, please take care of boss Henry, I’ll carry Amy... Let’s go!" And with Dave’s command, all of them went back to the shore to wait for Rei and Ava.

They didn’t have to wait for long, soon they saw Henry’s Gentry Eagle fastly approaching the island. When it was near enough, the medical team boarded a rubber boat to go to the island.

Their expertise and skill are evident in how they move fast and smoothly. In no time, they were able to put Amy in I.V. and quickly placed her on a stretcher to get her on board.

As soon as everyone boarded the Gentry Eagle, Rei instructed the captain to set a route to the nearest area where the Robinson R66 can land. They will air transport Amy to the nearest hospital as per the lead doctor’s advice.

The lead doctor already told Rei her diagnosis and what needs to be done and it’s urgent. After they talked, Rei immediately went to Henry who never left Amy’s side.

"Bro, let’s leave Amy to the doctors, give them space to do their job."

Henry was not responding and was just staring at Amy while holding her hand.

"Mr. Welsh, please go with Mr. Blair. We will clean up Mrs. Welsh and prep her for the next procedure. Please change your clothes as well, you don’t want to get sick too, right?" The lead doctor said which thankfully convinced Henry for he stood up and went out of the room with Rei.

Rei took Henry to the Master Bedroom and took out some clothes for him who sat on the edge of the bed while staring blankly on the floor.

"I’ve prepared the shower already, everything you need is in there. I’ll just get something for you to drink. You don’t look good," Rei said before walking out.

Henry sobbed quietly but Rei heard it which made him stop from walking out of the room. He sighed, and his shoulder dropped. He was torn if he will let him cry on his own to give him space, or if he will stay with him to be his crying shoulder.

In the end, he can’t bear to leave him alone. He hugged his best friend and Henry accepted his shoulder and cried out loud.

"I’m sorry. I’m so sorry bro. I should have been there. I shouldn’t have let you go on your own. I should’ve given you escorts at least but I didn’t. I am so so sorry," Rei can’t help it, he too was emotional.

The fear of not finding Amy and Henry, lack of sleep, and anger made him burst out as well. The two just stayed there, in each other’s arms crying their hearts out.

"Tell me Rei, what did the doctors say? Amy is pregnant, right?" Henry asked after their sobbing subsided.

Rei inhaled and exhaled deeply, he knows that Henry is not dumb to not know Amy’s condition and he wished over and over a while ago that he will not be the one to answer that question.

"Yes, bro. The doctor confirmed that she was pregnant," Rei saw how Henry’s face turned from sad and hopeful to shocked and grieving. He felt his chest tighten as Henry sobs once more.

If only he can take at least half of his pain he would. He owes Henry so much, he even owes him his life, and if he can do anything to lessen his sorrow, he would definitely do that. He only hopes that the couple would recover from this tragedy soon.

Rei clenched his fist as he remember the reason why his best friend and his wife is suffering right now. He will definitely make sure to find the person responsible for this and that person would definitely suffer in his own hands.
