CEO's Regret After I Divorced-Chapter 376 A Sister’s Gambit
Author’s POV
The Quinn family had gathered in the living room of their estate, anxiety and hope mingling in the air. News of Serena had brought the Quinn sisters flying back home, while Maya—still pale from her recent hospital stay—had become the focus of everyone’s protective attention due to her pregnancy.
Ethan, careful not to upset his wife further, took it upon himself to explain the situation about Serena’s reappearance as Serena Lancaster.
"She seems to have lost her memory completely," he explained, his voice steady despite the emotion behind his words. "She doesn’t recognize any of us. She actually recoils at the mention of her own name."
"She’s now Cedric Lancaster’s wife," he continued, the words clearly difficult for him to say. "They have a daughter together. They’ve been living in Thailand for the past three years."
"That explains why we could never locate her," Ethan concluded. "Cedric Lancaster must have completely fabricated a new identity for her."
Before Ethan could finish, Eleanor burst out, her voice trembling with indignation. "This is outrageous! I always suspected Cedric Lancaster had ulterior motives regarding Serena. I wouldn’t be surprised if he orchestrated the car accident himself!"
"How could there possibly be two people in this world who look exactly alike?" she demanded, anger giving way to desperation.
Maya immediately backed her up, leaning forward despite her delicate condition. "Exactly! I couldn’t possibly have mistaken her identity. I spent years with Serena—it’s definitely her!"
Ethan wrapped an arm around his wife, his touch gentle but firm. "Maya, please stay calm. I know you haven’t made a mistake."
"What do we do now?" Eleanor looked toward their parents, instinctively seeking the wisdom of the family elders for such a crisis.
Liam Quinn’s expression was grave as he contemplated the situation. The Quinn and Lancaster families had been close associates for generations, even having arranged a marriage at one point. If Serena hadn’t been lost at sea and unexpectedly married Ryan, the two families might have become in-laws. This development was completely unexpected.
"I’ll go to the Lancaster family immediately," he declared. "This situation demands an explanation."
Zoe, who had remained silent until now, finally spoke. "Dad, I think our priority shouldn’t be confronting the Lancasters, but reconnecting with Serena."
"She’s forgotten her past," Zoe continued, her voice measured and thoughtful. "As Maya mentioned, she seems repulsed by her former identity. Something must have happened that we’re unaware of."
Zoe’s incisive observation struck a chord with Maya, triggering a realization. "It must be Cedric Lancaster’s manipulation! The collaboration between Elegant Realm studio and LUXE was set from the beginning, but someone leaked plagiarism accusations, causing the deal to fall through."
"It was only after Ryan intervened that the collaboration continued," Maya added with growing conviction. "Think about it—who else would want to keep Serena from reconnecting with us besides Cedric Lancaster?"
Everyone nodded in agreement with Maya’s logic.
"So, we need to approach Serena directly, away from Cedric Lancaster’s influence, and discover the truth," Zoe proposed, then volunteered herself for the mission. "Let me be the one to go. I’ll determine whether she truly is Serena."
"Wait for my update before making any moves," she cautioned.
No one objected to Zoe’s proposal. As she was leaving, Maya followed her outside.
"Sis," Maya called, her voice softer now. "Serena isn’t heartless. She’s experienced memory loss before. Maybe she could remember again this time."
Zoe sighed and squeezed Maya’s shoulder reassuringly. "Maya, don’t worry. Blood ties are powerful—Serena belongs with the Quinns. Eventually, she’ll recognize us."
"Your job now is to take care of yourself and the baby," she added with a small smile. "Mom and Dad have been waiting for that grandchild for ages."
Maya’s worried expression finally relaxed into a smile. "I will."
"Now go back inside," Zoe instructed before getting into her car.
She headed directly to Elegant Realm workshop, a perfect location to avoid Cedric Lancaster, though she couldn’t be certain he wouldn’t eventually learn of her visit.
Zoe approached the situation cleverly, presenting herself as a potential client rather than revealing her true purpose. She was promptly escorted to the VIP room.
"Ms. Quinn, do you have a preferred designer?" asked the staff member.
Zoe nodded confidently. "I admire Mrs. Lancaster’s work. Though I wasn’t in the country for the recent fashion week, I watched the videos online."
"I’m particularly interested in the Eye of the Storm collection," she added casually.
The employee’s eyes widened slightly—anyone who could express interest in such valuable jewelry so nonchalantly clearly possessed significant wealth and status.
"Mrs. Lancaster doesn’t typically take unscheduled appointments," the employee explained apologetically.
"I understand," Zoe replied, her voice polite but firm. "However, my schedule in the country is extremely tight. I won’t be available tomorrow. I’d appreciate it if you could explain my situation to Mrs. Lancaster."
"I’ll wait here," she added with finality.
Faced with such persistence, the employee had little choice but to acquiesce. "Very well, Ms. Quinn. I’ll speak with Mrs. Lancaster. Please wait a moment."
The VIP room was promptly stocked with tea and delicacies, the service impeccable. Zoe acknowledged the attention with quiet gratitude as she waited patiently.
When Serena heard about the unexpected visitor, she raised an eyebrow. "Quinn? From LUXE?"
"I’m not certain," her assistant replied. "She’s recently returned from abroad. From her appearance and manner, she’s clearly from an elite background." 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
Serena considered this for a moment before setting aside her work. "I’ll meet with her."
She soon reached the VIP room and peered through the window. Zoe sat elegantly on the sofa, showing no signs of impatience despite the wait.
Without further hesitation, Serena entered the room. "Hello, Ms. Quinn. I’m Serena Lancaster."
A polite, professional smile graced Serena’s features as Zoe’s heart skipped several beats. The woman before her was undeniably her sister. Nevertheless, Zoe quickly composed herself.
"Mrs. Lancaster, hello. I’m Zoe. Zoe Quinn from LUXE."
She rose to her feet and extended her hand.
Was this woman yet another person claiming to know her, coming to "reunite" with her?
Serena’s handshake was brief, her tone growing noticeably cooler. "I suspect you’re not really here because of the Eye of the Storm collection, are you, Ms. Quinn?"
