Chaos In The Darkness; Salvatores's Salvation-Chapter 232: A happy fam - I
At the sound of the door being slammed shut, Evelyn jerked awake and sat upright. In her mind, for a brief second, she was still in the apartment in the United Kingdom where the lock system was shitty.
Her mouth opened when she saw Salvatore come in but it was the condition that he was in which made her speechless.
"Salvatore?" She whispered before getting up and going towards him who had stopped midway.
Taking in the side of his bloody dress shirt, her eyes darted to each and every wound on his body. "What happened? How did you get so—"
"Not mine."
"Hur—oh, okay." She shut up instantly.
Her eyes still wandered on the patches of blood on his white shirt. By the looks of it, it did not look like the blood of one person and if it was, then the person was definitely not alive anymore.
Looking away from her eyes went to time and she remembered why she was waiting for him in the living room in the first place.
"Where have you been?" She hissed, her eyes narrowed at him. "You were out there torturing someone when you told me that specifically tonight you will make sure to tell Arabella about the existence of a father in her life!"
Instead of answering her, he walked past her and upstairs, making her follow him.
It was one thing to abandon them all together when it had been his idea and now not answering was the top of it.
"Salvatore, do you have any idea how it would reflect on her?" Evelyn did not bother keeping quiet. "She even waited for you. Toddlers like her get hungry yet she insisted that since you were going to talk to her she was supposed to wait until you!"
Salvatore moved into his room and she followed him inside.
"A two-year-old wanted to wait for you instead of eating her food just because you wanted to talk to her. Do you know how excited she was to show you the dresses and toys that you bought?"
AS level in continued to speak is moved to every movement Salvatore was making. He had taken off his clothes and was now pulling on his sweats to take to the bathroom before she finally gave in.
"Salvatore," she sighed heavily, "would you please—"
"Michelle her close attempt at assassination." He revealed quietly. "He almost got killed tonight."
"By who?"
He hissed through his teeth. "I don’t fucking know."

"Hold on for a moment, alright?" Evelyn adjusted the blib on her neck, "I’ll be right back, ok?’
Arabella nodded and continued to tap this phone on the surface of the high chair.
Leaving her daughter in the dining room she hurriedly made her way upstairs to use the bathroom. Once she had relieved herself and make sure to put her phone on charge for walking down stairs and into the dining room.
Once again she found herself in the family situation where she saw Salvatore reading a newspaper and arabella talking to him animatedly.
"But I like the jiggly more than the Pikachu." Arabella giggled, "it’s more squishy!"
"Ah, yes?" He nodded, "I think I like her because she is pink."
"That!" Arabella jumped in her chair. "that pink, I like pink too!"
A smile threatened to break on her face. Pink, did Salvatore really say that?
"And, and," Arabella clapped her hands, "I brought pretty dresses with mummy. It had flowers too and white white balls."
White, White balls, Evelyn chuckled. Pearls.
Slowly, she made her presence known by stepping inside and immediately attracted the attention of her daughter.
"Hi, mummy!" Arabella sang the greeting while swimming her legs back and forth in the high chair.
"Hey, baby," she greeted back softly and patted her head before going over to sit in her chair.
Salvatore folded the newspaper and kept it beside him before looking at her expectantly. "Shall we?"
Shall we, what? Her eyes moved to her daughter who was in her own world, humming and swinging her legs to a beat she made up all had heard somewhere in the cartoons she started to watch recently.
She gulped, "Okay," she nodded. They had to do it. Her daughter decided to have a father in her life and Salvatore was probably already there on her birth certificate by now.
"Arabella," she shifted closer to her daughter and leaned her body towards her. "Do you mind," she placed her hand firmly over her leg, "if we talk about something?"
"What?" Arabella now started to chew on the back of the spoon.
Okay, then. She was going to rip off the bandage in one go.
"Salvatore," she pointed to the man, "is your papa."
The silence made her a bit nervous. Her daughter did not reply immediately and Evelyn felt the need to explain more.
"Mummy and he have some problems which is why we have to be apart for some time but now we are back together and you have a papa."
Evelyn touched her daughter’s cheek, "I apologize for not telling you this sooner.’
"why?" She asked and looked at Evelyn with so much innosense in her eyes that Evelyn almost cried on the spot.
She licked her lips before answering, "umm.. sometimes adults have big problems that they need help in solving and cannot solve instantly. So, we um.."
Salvatore shifted and Evelyn caught it. Her eyes moved to Salvatore who kneeled down in front of her daughter.
"I am sorry I could not be there for you soon, Arabella." Salvatore offered her a rare smile, "would you please forgive me? I promise to never leave you again."
Arabella still did not reply and Evelyn almost regretted involving my daughter into this at such an early-stage. She could have easily done this with time instead of just keeping the bandage off.
Slowly, the expressions over the toddler’s face changed. "Papa?" She whispered and those big green eyes blinked with tears, "my papa?"
Salvatore nodded. "Yes, your papa."
Arabella sniffed loudly before raising her hands in the air and making grabby hands. Even before she could blink, Salvatore had her daughter in his arms and was hugging her as she sniffled quietly.
For a moment, just a small moment, Evelyn sighed and leaned on the chair she was sitting on.
For once, she was happy and content. For once, she didn’t want anything else.
