Chaos In The Darkness; Salvatores's Salvation-Chapter 242: A dinner date- II
When she said yes to going on a dinner date with her husband, what Evelyn did not expect was that they were going out tonight.
That was unexpected, that was completely out of the blue, that was unacceptable.
Ki chewed on the nail of her thumb as she continued to stare at the various dresses kept on her bed which she had taken out from her closet just so she could get a better view. And what she ended up with was nothing.
Every dress was good but not good at the same time.
This was the time she realised the downside of not having any friends or just not keeping in touch with them. Even if she went to any of them now, none of them were going to pick up her calls because of what Salvatore must’ve done to them.
She huffed and unfolded her arms, letting them hit her side. There was no way she could decide in the next two hours what she was going to wear.

Evelyn fiddled with her ring as she gave herself one last look before walking out of the door. She had ended up choosing A silk red dress that was a-line, sleeveless, with a bit of a cleavage but classy nonetheless.
She wore gold jewellery with it and matching heels. Her blonde hair was straightened.
She looked good.
A knock came on her door and Evelyn turned around, "Come in." She said loudly, hoping from half a mind that it was Salvatore.
"Madam," Marco entered and she felt a little disappointed, "if you would allow me, shall I escort you to the car downstairs?"
She frowned. "Where is Salvatore?"
"The Don will receive you at the restaurant."
What is it going to be another time when she was going to be left waiting just like it had been with Arabella and her?
Shaking her head and getting rid of the thoughts, Evelyn decided to give him a try. They were going to work on this relationship and that was something that requires trust and chances.
She agreed to let Marco escort her down. The butler opened the door of the car for her before closing at shut when she had settled inside.
The car ride was silent. Obviously, the driver was not going to fill the silence. He must have been instructed like every other driver to not speak until spoken to or instructed to do inform her about something.
Evelyn kept her eyes outside and watched every car or building pass as the route forward. When the familiar lines of lavish restaurants appeared, she knew that the destination was near and within moments they stopped in front of one of the such.
No one cared if the line was moving or not. The driver, with practised steps, stepped out and looked around before opening her door and ushering her inside.
He did not leave even when the receptionist came towards her and let her towards her table where she finally found Salvatore. Only when the Don gave the driver one nod, did the man leave.
Her husband got up from the chair that he had been sitting on and stopped in front of her with his hand held out.
Evelyn placed her hand in his and was left back to the table when she realized that it was the only table occupied in the entire hall.
"Did you end up booking the entire restaurant?" She asked while he was pulling out his seat and having her settled first.
It was only when Salvatore had settled into his seat he answered, "I wanted to be alone with you."
The words brought a blush to her face and a small smirk appearing on her husband’s lips conveyed that he knew well of what effect his words had on her.
She gulped and pulled on her gear for tonight.
"When was the last time we ever went out? Before marriage I guess.." that was not a taunt but a genuine question she asked which she ended up answering on her own. The incident had happened right after their marriage and there was no chance that I could have gone out to dinner after that.
"Yes," He agreed, "before that."
"and you never got to eat out?" She teased. "being underground must have had its disadvantages."
Salvatore let out an easy-going chuckle, "yes, I can assure you it does." He sighed and added, "how has life been with Arabella in London?"
"A little difficult, to be honest. Some people are kind and summer not and unfortunately we met the unkind ones more."
"and you never considered coming back or giving her up?"
How have the conversation moved from light jobs at each other to a deep dive into such questions?
Yet, she answered. "No, I could not just give a child up after I had taken responsibility for her. And coming back to you meant losing her which I could not afford."
He nodded, taking her answer. "What made you assume that I was going to separate you from the child?"
Evelyn scoffed. "almost everything, Salvatore!"
"Why would I trust you when you were not even reacting well to the information that I was pregnant from before the marriage. Something that I had completely forgotten about after my father died! Many things happened at one point of time and if I could go back in time and change it, I assure you that I would."
"You would?" He asked suspiciously and she could grasp that.
"Yes," Evelyn nodded and glanced down, "it might mean leaving Arabella forever but if she was written to be my child then she would come to me one way or the other. However, I really wanted this marriage to work two years ago and I still do."
"You should have come back, Evelyn." Salvatore said after some time, "I know I am truly cruel but I would never have the heart to you away."
Moisture gathered in her eyes as she stared at him, trying to believe his words before she nodded eventually after sometime. "I know."
