Chapter 96: A brother’s wrath - II

"Really?" Luigi chuckled. "How funny, I don’t remember anything like that."

His words almost made Evelyn cry out of helplessness. She remembered everything to the day.

As much as she needed the presence of someone like her father she knew that he wasn’t available but her aunt’s were there. They had ignored her as they paid their respects to her mother and her father.

Evelyn remembered that as clearly as if it were happening in front of her right now.

But she was also looking at her cousin who was clearly enjoying what she was feeling. She was better than him and Evelyn was well aware of it. Even if she was what one would call naive in this world, she was not cruel unlike her cousin but she could use her brain.

"It’s alright if you don’t remember it, Luigi." Evelyn gave him a small smile no longer trying to instigate him in return. "However, if you must excuse me. I need to get a few things done for the day."

Flashing him another quick smile, Evelyn turned around only to be aggressive in the return round.

She gasped and her eyes moved to his hand on her elbow. He gripped her so tightly that Evelyn had to pull her mouth but her cousin did not allow that as his grip remained.

"Luigi," Evelyn hissed, "Let go!"

Her elbow had started to hurt enough and her cousin had gripped it hard enough for her to feel the tears forming in her eyes.

Luigi chuckled and tightened his grip even more, making evelyne whimper in pain. "You thi—"

"Mr. Bianchi it would be better if you let it go of Ms. Bianchi." Julian’s smooth, rough voice made Evelyn relax a little and so did the grip of her brother over her elbow.

Before luigi could even take his hand off her elbow, Julian did it for him.

Julian gripped the wrist of her cousin and before anyone knew it, Julian held his palm and snapped the rest towards the side making Luigi yell out in pain.

Evelyn gasped and stepped back as she stared at what happened in horror. Her cousin was on the ground as he was yelling and in pain while holding his broken rest that dangled from side to side.

"Julian. . ." Evelyn whispered in horror as she cupped her mouth.

Julian turned to her and looked almost like a robot with his hands clasped in front of him and with his face holding no emotions, "Tonio has the car started, madam. Shall we?"

Evelyn stared at him open mouthed before understanding what he said and nodded her head. She did as he told and immediately started in the car just as she found herself near it.

They were almost out of the university gates when she heard Julian say, "I apologize for the delay I made in intervening. I was aware that he is your uncle’s son and your cousin which is why I stayed away. It will not happen again."

Halfway through the apology Julian had turned around slightly from his seat to look at Evelyn. For the first time she might have seen some kind of emotion on the men because Julian did seem to be apologetic.

"It’s alright, Julian," Evelyn nodded at him.

The rest of the car ride remained silent as a villain gently rubbed her elbow which was red in colour. By the time she reached the apartment she could see it Browning a little bit. It was turning its colour which made sure that it was definitely going to bruise.

Just like her afternoons went Evelyn was alone in the house. The only people that were here were the chef and Butler that were ready to serve her lunch whenever she wanted it.

"Thank you," she said to the butler who had offered her some juice and left it on the dining table where Evelyn was sitting.

Evelyn was focusing on the assignment that was given to her. She rubbed her forehead, feeling tired of it already when she felt her phone vibrate on the table. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮

Why did she always feel annoyed when a phone rang?

She looked over to the phone to find Salvatore calling her. A small smile came over her face as she picked it up and placed it next to her ear. "Ho, I mean hi!" She bit her lip. What did she just do?

"Hello Evelyn," her spine straightened up as she realised that he must be in between people because this was the Don’s voice. He meant business.

"I want to know what happened at your University today."

She scoffed. " Julian told you about it, didn’t he?"

"It is in the job description of Julian to tell me what happens in your day. Especially when he sees it himself." Salvatore’s voice came to her smoothly. "Now, why don’t you tell me what happened and do not leave out anything."

And so Evelyn began to tell the tale. She might have skipped over a few details that she found irrelevant for him to know but all in all she told him how it happened and why it did.

"I do understand where the concerns of your family members are coming from." Salvatore said with a sigh that took Evelyn by complete surprise. "I understand that as your family members who have not met you for over a month are concerned for your well being because you are living in a different family."

"But I am good," Evelyn argued. Even though she did not understand how to tell that she was being taken care of more than she would have been at her own house, she conveyed it to him.

"I know," Salvatore said, agreeing with her. "But these are your family members that want assurance. So because we do not have anything to hide, we shall go and visit them to show that you are being taken care of."

Evelyn scoffed. "What?!"

For a few seconds all she heard was silence from the other side before Salvatore finally spoke up, "Is there’s a problem, Evelyn?"

Shit.
