Chasing The Vengeful Villainous Heiress-Chapter 77: Valerie Rendro was actually Valerie Ross
Valerie arrived home, her heart thumping in pain. The pained expression on Max’s face hung her like a rope and she couldn’t cut loose.
She said those things for his sake but he would never know that unless she explained.
She picked up her phone and stared at his number. She wanted to call but thought against it.
"I should explain things to him when I get to school on Monday." She muttered to herself and just then, Frankie walked in.
"Is something bothering you, Miss?" She asked and Valerie looked up at her.
"Frankie, I said some awful things to Max today." She said.
"How come? I thought you liked his company." Frankie said, taking a seat next to her.
"Yes, I do. I like spending time with him and with every action of his, I find myself diving into a different world." She explained. "I was having fun for the first time, Frankie."
"Okay? So, what seems to be the problem? Why did you say bad things to him?"
Valerie bowed her head.
"Lucy and Lucas were there." She is and Frankie shuddered.
"What? Those evil brats followed you?"
"It seems like it. They were there and saw me with Max. They asked about him and I said..." She shut her eyes. "I really hurt his feelings, Frankie. He’s going to hate me now."
"Well, you can just explain it to him. Tell him that it’s dangerous and break up with him, because those brats will not let him be, if they know you really do care for him." Frankie suggested and Valerie lowered her head again.
She already thought of that but just explaining to him won’t solve matters so easily.
’I hope he doesn’t hate me.’ she thought, placing her hand on her head. ’I’d hate to see him look at me with a look of disgust or hatred.’
"Thanks, Frankie." She said and turned around to stare at Max’s jacket. She picked it up and sniffed it hard. It still had his scent on it. "It’s so warm." She muttered, her face flushing.
Meanwhile, Max, who had his heart beating in pain went home and stared at the key chain. He thought she at least felt something for him when she got this from him.
Was it all a lie? He didn’t know.
He called for the butler, Owen. The butler of his parents house was Owen, a bright-looking gentleman in his late forties...
"What can I do for your, young master?" He asked and Max looked at him with stern eyes.
"Where’s my mother?" He asked and Owen took a moment before answering,
"She went to the family house. She’ll likely stay there till Monday." He said and Max looked aside. At a time like this, he wanted to ask someone what to do if not he was sure he’d make the wrong move.
What he wanted to do now was catch Valerie, tie her up, and have her repeat her words while torturing her into tears. He wanted to keep her by his side. He didn’t believe the words she said but it still hurt and that was why he wanted to torture her. She’d regret saying these words to him and realize just how much he cared for her.
"No." He shook his head. He had to wash away those thoughts.
If he didn’t want her to hate him for real and feel scared, he’d have to act like a normal person. Stay sane.
There might’ve been a reason she said those words to him. She’d find out. But more importantly... Her eyes.
"Owen," Max called, placing his hand on his mouth as he thought. "Today, I saw red eyes." He said. "They were very beautiful, like rubies. Tell me, was it natural or was I just imagining it?"
"Well, it depends on the individual you saw it on." He said. "It’s a common thing for youths to use lense nowadays." He said.
"But I’m sure they weren’t lenses. They were natural."
"Well, there is one family in this country that has natural red eyes. And that is Ross family." Owen stated.
"Ross?" He looked confused.
"Yes, young master. Ross lineage has natural red eyes as they were originally immigrants from long ago before becoming quite prosperous in this country and setting their standing. But currently, there is only one person in Ross who has natural red eyes." He explained.
"Who?"
"The heiress, Valerie Ross." He said, and Max flinched.
"Valerie?" His eyes widened.
"Yes, young master. Valerie Ross. She is the only one with red eyes."
Max was confused. He didn’t know who Ross was, up till this moment and he never really had an interest in knowing who she was. It could be a coincidence that they both had the same name but their eyes... He was sure Valerie’s eyes were red when she walked past him.
It was the first time he had seen her without her glasses so that was why he never noticed but they were pretty. Sparkly. Unlike her indifferent and dull personality, her eyes were actually full of life.
"Valerie, for the first time, I wonder, who are you?" He muttered to himself and got up.
He went up to his room right away to use his laptop. First, he checked about Ross and that was when he saw Valerie. More like little Valerie. She had quite a few articles about her when she was young but there wasn’t much as most of it had been covered up and deleted.
So, there was no way to know what had happened to her.
Well, at least he was able to confirm one thing.
Valerie Rendro was actually Valerie Ross.
’There was more to you that I didn’t know, Valerie. So, when you said those words, did you just say them because you were scared for me or that was what you initially felt?’ he wondered, resting his back on his chair and pressing his hand on his chest.
The pain in his chest didn’t subside even after knowing she had such a big secret she was hiding.
The two who were with her, he did not see their faces but he guessed they might’ve been people whom she knew.
"I want to know the truth." He said to himself and picked up his phone. He decided to meet up with her the next day.
While Valerie was busy sniffing in Max’s scent from his jacket, she got a text.
It was from Max, telling her he’d like to see her at a park the next day. She stared at the text and wondered if that was a good idea.
"I guess I’ll have to return this as well." She muttered and rested her head on her desk while staring at it. "I should get it dry-cleaned."
She got up and headed for the bathroom.
"Frankie. Get that to the dryer. It should be ready by tomorrow. I’m returning it." She said, and Frankie nodded.
She took the jacket from the table as well as the scarf and took them to the dryer. And when it was ready, she folded them both and placed them in a bag.
Not knowing Frankie folded the scarf in the bag as well, Valerie took the bag and went to meet up with Max.
