Chapter 89: True face of Lucy Ross

"You dare?" Bernard yelled, veins popping up his neck in fury.

"No? You’re as biased as ever." She slowly darted her eyes away, mumbling to herself. "She can kill someone however she likes, why can’t I?"

"Dare to lay a finger on my daughter and you’re finished." Bernard declared, and Valerie laughed.

"Haha, just as I thought." She said. "You treasure your daughter more than anything in this world. Too bad you didn’t show that much love to your son. Lucas would be so so disappointed."

"What did you say?" Victoria flared as well. "You murderer, you’re the one who landed my son in his early grave. How dare you speak of his name?!"

Valerie looked nonchalantly at her and then shrugged her shoulders.

"What? I just happened to be lucky that day. He’s the one who took the car whose brakes had been tampered with." She said out loud and everyone started murmuring. "Just imagine, if I had taken that car that day, I might’ve been the one dead and would’ve been out of your hair at the snap of a finger." She snapped her fingers and laughed.

"You would’ve deserved it." Victoria spat out and Valerie frowned.

"Would you have said the same if it was Lucy who owned that car?"

"Lucy is different from you." Victoria stated. "My darling daughter is too good for the likes of you to compare, so you better stay out of her way."

"You love her so much." Valerie said and her eyes beamed with hatred. "So, why did you not teach her properly? Why did you let her get out of control?"

"What is this nonsense you’re spewing? I have had enough of this. Guards! Get this girl detained immediately." Bernard ordered but just before the guards could make their move, Max’s men showed themselves from the upper floor, all pointing their guns at the guards down who were about to take action.

"Careful, uncle." Valerie’s eyes glowed. "One wrong move and there will be bloodshed."

This caused another round of panic among the guests.

"What is the meaning of this? Does she plan to kill people?"

"Is Stewart a part of this? Are they in cahoots with that crazy killer?"

"I don’t want to die."

Though frightened, they could not make a move, scared that they would be the ones to open the floor for the bloodbath.

"Haha, calm down. No one’s going to die." Valerie said with an easy laugh. "As long as Bernard Ross behaves, that is. After all, he was the one to make the first move. This is just ’self-defense’." She said and sniggered.

"You’ve really gone mad." Victoria said. "You... You plan to kill us to get revenge, isn’t it?"

"What? Moi?" Valerie acted surprised and then sniggered once more. "Death is way too easy for the likes of you."

Max placed his hands on her shoulder and said,

"So many of you must be scared because a ’killer’ is in your presence and then there are guns randomly pointed. Yes, there is a killer." He said. "But you’re looking in the wrong direction."

Valerie and Max turned their gaze to Lucy at the side and smiled.

"The one whom you should be wary of is the green snake hiding in the green field." Valerie said.

"How dare you accuse my daughter?" Victoria yelled, approaching angrily, despite the guns that were pointed from above.

She was more than determined to teach Valerie a lesson with her hand.

"I’ll teach you a lesson. You’ll regret spewing nonsense from your mouth." As soon as she raised her hand, Max took out the gun from his inner coat and pointed it at her.

His eyes were dead cold. They were scary and the mere sight of a gun pointed at her face made Victoria’s entire body tremble.

"I think you’re the one who will regret it." Valerie said, "And besides, I never said anything about your daughter, did I? You’re the one who let the cat out of the bag."

Bernard got angry. He did not know why this was happening. How did Valerie get the protection of the Stewarts?

The family head was unusually calm and so were others. Things were going bad for them.

His gaze traveled to the reporters. The event was being streamed live so where were the police?

Usually, when such a thing happens, the police would’ve been informed right away and were supposed to be at the scene right now. After all, the people who were present were no small names.

’Don’t tell me, are the police involved in this too?’

Bingo. He guessed right.

The police were well aware of everything the Ross had been up to from day one, having enough evidence to convict them but they were laying low. As long as Valerie kept the end of her deal and didn’t kill anyone, they wouldn’t intervene.

Currently, they were all watching the drama on TV while sipping coffee and wondering what would happen next.

"Ah, that reminds me," Valerie said. "It’s too bad you weren’t able to get married today but..." Her lips curled up in an evil smirk. "Let me at least give you the gift I had specifically and specially prepared." She said and turned to the guests. "I hope with this, whatever questions you have will be answered."

"What sort of gift is it?" They started murmuring again, suddenly forgetting the feeling of fright they felt from the guns pointed from above.

"Let’s start with this, shall we?" She clapped her hands and a giant screen was slowly lowered. "I title this gift, ’The true color of the kind and caring Lucy Ross’." She said, grinning from ear to ear. "Enjoy."

The lights in the hall dimmed and the screen came on. The first thing that came up was the scene of Valerie’s room. Then, streaming in one by one were servants of the Ross household.

"You remember them, don’t you?" Valerie asked Lucy whose face had suddenly gone pale. "Because you killed them with your bare hands."

As soon as she said this, Lucy came into view on the screen, smiling innocently with a knife in her hand. Then, she said,

"Don’t worry. Just as I promised, after you die, your family will live off of more wealth than you could ever imagine." She said and approached, with that innocent smile and the knife in full view, ready to dig into the flesh of the innocent servants.

Lucy in real life was frozen in place as she watched in horror. Why was that showing on the screen? How... How...?

She was deeply shaken and slowly shifted her gaze to Valerie who was now staring at her with a frown and the glowing eyes of a tigress.

"Watch it, Lucy. Watch your heartless actions in person."
