Chosen By The Lover's Constellation-Chapter 186: Star Players, Part Fifteen
{Enverna}
{January 22}
The soft morning light filtered through the curtains, casting a warm glow over the entwined figures of Enverna and Lianna as they lay nestled together in the comfort of their bed.
They were naked, naturally.
The remnants of their passionate lovemaking, a delightful scent and a certain tingle between Enverna’s legs, still lingered, a tangible reminder of the intimacy they had shared.
As the first rays of dawn kissed their skin, Enverna stirred from her slumber, her eyes fluttering open to meet Lianna’s gaze.
The warmth of their shared embrace filled her with a sense of contentment, a feeling of blissful tranquility that washed over her like a gentle tide.
Lianna’s phone rang, breaking the peaceful silence of the morning with its shrill tone.
With a soft groan, Lianna reached for her phone, her fingers fumbling slightly as she answered the call.
"Hello?" Lianna’s voice was still laced with sleep as she greeted the caller.
Enverna watched with curiosity as Lianna’s expression shifted from confusion to surprise in a matter of seconds. Whatever news she had received seemed to catch her off guard.
"What? Are you serious?" Lianna’s voice rose with excitement, her eyes widening with disbelief.
Enverna’s curiosity piqued, she leaned in closer, straining to hear the conversation on the other end of the line.
"Okay, okay. We’ll be right there," Lianna said, a smile spreading across her lips as she hung up the phone.
Enverna raised an eyebrow, her curiosity getting the better of her.
"What’s going on?"
Lianna’s smile widened as she turned to face Enverna, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
"That was Zura. Mel woke up."
Enverna’s eyes widened with surprise, a surge of joy flooding her heart at the news.
"Really? That’s amazing!"
Quickly, they untangled themselves from each other’s embrace, the urgency of the moment spurring them into action.
They dressed in record time, their movements fueled by a sense of excitement and anticipation.
Together, they made their way to Zura’s dorm room, their footsteps echoing softly in the empty hallway.
As they approached the door, Enverna’s heart fluttered with nervous anticipation, unsure of what to expect.
When they entered the room, they found Caroline sitting beside Mel’s bed, her expression filled with relief and concern.
Mel lay in the bed, her eyes fluttering open as she blinked away the remnants of sleep.
"Mel!" Lianna’s voice was filled with joy as she rushed to her friend’s side, enveloping her in a tight hug.
Mel’s eyes lit up with recognition as she returned the hug, a smile spreading across her lips.
"Lianna, Enverna," she greeted, her voice soft and hoarse from disuse.
Enverna’s heart swelled with relief as she and Lianna both embraced Mel, her eyes shimmering with unshed tears.
"We were so worried about you," Lianna whispered, her voice choked with emotion.
As they gathered around Mel’s bedside, a sense of gratitude washed over them.
Enverna and Mel’s eyes met.
The history between them was... undeniable, but, at this point, all negative feelings Enverna had were all but faded away, little more than something to think about at night.
Now, all that remained was relief at the fact that her and Lianna’s ally had made it.

{Mel}
As soon as she could, Mel left Caroline’s home. It wasn’t because she resented Caroline or anything, she just wanted to be back home.
And, "home" was... well, right now it was Zura’s dorm room.
She could go back to her own but with that girl on the loose, Mel felt it was necessary to remain close to her allies.
Soon, Mel stepped into Zura’s dorm room, her gaze immediately drawn to the sight before her.
[Oh.]
Zura was in the middle of a set of push-ups, her muscles flexing with each powerful movement.
The rhythmic sound of her exertion filled the room just as Mel’s heart rate began to speed up. Zura hadn’t noticed her yet, as her eyes were closed.
"87... 88..." Zura counted each rep.
As Mel watched, she felt a familiar heat rising within her, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment.
Ever since that night of passion they had shared back at Garriden, Mel hadn’t been able to look at Zura in quite the same way.
The memory of their drunken encounter lingered in her mind, filling her with a heady mixture of desire and shame.
That was why things had gotten slightly odd between them.
A drunken one-night stand had made things... weird.
Zura glanced up, her gaze meeting Mel’s.
There was an unspoken acknowledgment between them, a shared awareness of the tension that simmered beneath the surface of their interactions.
"Yo, Mel," Zura greeted, her voice warm and slightly breathless from her exertion. "Didn’t expect to see you, uh, up and running so soon."
Mel forced a smile, her cheeks still tinged with embarrassment.
"Yeah, well, I won’t be doing too much running," setting aside her embarrassment, Mel cleared her throat, steeling herself for what she was about to say. "Actually, I was thinking I might head back to bed for a little while. I’m still feeling a bit tired, ironically enough, considering I just woke up from a coma."
Zura nodded in understanding, pushing herself up from the floor to stand before Mel.
"Oh. Do you wanna..."
"I..." Mel hesitated.
[Come on, it’s fine. Stop it.]
"We can share the bed if you want," Mel muttered.
"... If you’re sure, then, okay," Zura shrugged, though she spoke quite softly. "I’ll be here if you need anything."
"Thanks."
As Mel made her way to the bed, she couldn’t shake the feeling of unease that lingered in the air between them.
Climbing back into bed, Mel closed her eyes and tried to push aside the memories that threatened to overwhelm her.
[I’m still not 100% just yet. Need some rest.]
She knew that she needed to focus on her recovery, put the past behind her and move forward.
But as she drifted off to sleep, her mind filled with thoughts of that night.
[... I mean, it felt nice,] she thought. [Whatever. That’s all to take away from that.]
