Chapter 50: Admitting the Truth
Holding her tight Magnus never wanted to let her go now that she knew the truth. Pulling back he wiped her tears away from her cheeks with his thumbs looking at his child. "I am so sorry. So, so sorry. I should have never trusted your uncle." Holding on to her father, she felt a sense of peace she had never thought to feel in her life.
"Mother told me uncle kidnapped me, but she couldn’t tell me what happened after you came here. What happened to you?" Sitting back down in their chairs her father explains the whole situation.

Magnus had sworn to his mate that he would find their child and bring her back home safely. Her brother Vestis had taken their child and ran with her thinking it would make his sister chase him down. Little did he know that the wolf god would run to the physical realm hiding in plain sight.
When Magnus crossed through the portal between realms on the night of the solstice he knew he would not be back until the gates opened again for him. Holding his mate at the gates he knows it will be hard being away from her. "I am sorry my love. We thought he had finally came to terms with my choices. And now he takes our precious daughter away. Please you have to bring her back."
Holding her close as she cried into his chest Magnus didn’t want to leave her. That Vestis had always had it out for Magnus ever since he claimed his sister, Artemis. She was to be his mate since the day she was born as was foretold. Vestis had made sure she would choose him to care for her and meet every one of her needs, or so he thought.
In their youth, they were both trained by the previous moon god/goddess to take their place as the moon gods. She was a natural with her powers helping the night turn to day and guiding her animal spirit to lead the animals in the physical realm. Watching her grow he had become obsessed with her never wanting to share her with anyone.
One night as she was changing the veils of the sky from day to night a wayward dragon crash-landed into her gardens beaten and bleeding from his side. A nasty wound was continuously bleeding his breath was shallow as she looked up at the innocent goddess rushing to him. freeweɓnovel.cѳm
"Oh my Goddess! You need help!" Artemis shouted to the dragon seeing how badly he was injured. The blood kept spilling out as his breath became more shallow. "No, no I’ve got you. Just hold on." Artemis laid her hands over the wound closing her eyes and beginning to chant.
Mortal, god, and light
Power surge and flows
Heal this creature now.
Seal and bind
heal and entwine
Bring him back to the light.
Mend this beast
Make him whole
Protect this Dragon Soul.
A blue light spilled from her hands as his insides began to heal, the skin pulling together, his scales forming as the fatal wound healed shut. Sitting back Artemis watched the dragon change form into a man who lay passed out from the exhausting ordeal. Artemis had her servants move him to a room in her temple where she could attend to him.
She had never seen him before, but she rarely left the moon pavilion. Looking the dragon man over she could see he had been in many battles with scars tattering his body. The one she healed seemed to be the biggest one she could see. The servants lay him down in the bed moving about and gathering items to wash the blood off him. Just as one was bout to start Artemis stopped her.
"I’ll handle it, thank you." The servant nodded stepping away as the other left the room. Wiping the blood away Artemis could tell he was a god himself. The mark of the dragon god just above his right peck. She hadn’t met too many other gods since she couldn’t leave the pavilion. She had only had her brother, her parents the wolf/moon gods, and a couple of their siblings.
Never having met another god on her own she was at a loss about what to say or do. Continuing to clean him off as best she could Artemis felt this was the best she could offer until he woke up. Handing the bowl and towel to the servant close by they took it away. Artemis was about to stand when his hand suddenly grabbed her wrist. He looked up at her studying her face.
"Who are you?" Magnus whispered out still weak from the attack on him. "My name is Artemis. You fell into my garden and I healed your wound. Don’t try to move I can still feel that your energy hasn’t returned to you. Rest you are safe here." His mind was fogged over, but he could still make out the beautiful goddess before him.
She was like the light of the moon shining down on him healing his body with her rays. Losing the fight to stay awake he nods succumbing to the darkness paying the goddess would still be there when he awoke.
Artemis watched him sleep for a while until her brother shows up rushing into the room full of concern. "Artemis! What happened?! Someone said you were attacked and a dragon fell into your garden! Are you alright?" Vestis immediately pulled her up from her seat and started to check her over for injuries. Slapping his hands away she ushered him out of the room.
"I am fine. It looks like someone attacked him or he was in a fierce battle. I healed what I could, but it’ll be up to him if he lives." Artemis didn’t know much about dragons so she had to have faith he would pull through. Vestis was anything but happy about his sister healing someone. "That is dangerous power to be using. Use to much and it could take you life. What were you thinking?!"
Turning to her brother she knew he was only concerned for her, but she hadn’t seen a living being die before and didn’t want this one to die either. "It was my choice, and besides I didn’t want him dying in my garden." Trying not to seem overly concerned for the dragon god Artemis brushed off her brother. Turning her to face him, Vestis looked her in the eyes saying these next words.
"After he wakes up you are to send him back to where he came from. We don’t know what he wants and I don’t want you around strange gods you don’t know. Please, sister!" Artemis wanted to know more about the dragon god, but her brother was dead set against her finding anything out. Not wanting to upset him more she nods to her brother who signs in relief.
