Classless Awakening; My Dragon Is Legendary-Chapter 53: Fighting Forest Beasts
Dark scales wrapped around Derrick’s body, and dragon energy converged around his legs.
In the blink of an eye, he closed the distance between them both.
Derrick was the first to strike, he swung his blade masterfully.
The lady dodged it by an inch, letting the blade fly over her head.
Derrick swung his leg executing a perfect roundhouse which struck the lady straight in the chest.
Vines wrapped around Derrick’s right leg, but before they could go too far, he tapped them with Nullspire, causing them to wither and die.
The lady backtracked, creating space between her and Derrick.
She clasped both hands together and green ooze filled the air, failing to impair Derrick’s vision.
[Poison has been detected.]
[Immunity has kicked in.]
Derrick didn’t even flinch, the poison cloud attack was powerless before him.
"I see, you are a strong one." The lady spoke, she tried to get another word out, but before she could, Derrick swung his sword three times.
Three arcs filled with dragon energy, Nullspire magic and Varyn flew.
All three attacks headed for the lady, whose body phased into the ground, mixing with the forest.
Derrick peered intensely. Using his dragon eyes, he tried to scan the entire forest to see where the lady was, but all to no avail.
From what he could tell, the entire forest was filled with the lady. No matter what he did, he couldn’t find her.
Five tree branches shot out towards him, each of them with a sharpened tip.
Derrick leaped into the air, his body spun midair, executing a screwdriver.
While he was spinning, he had his arm out, and with perfect concentration, he sliced through every branch, causing it to wither once again.
"Is that the best you’ve got?" Derrick laughed, but his amusement was short-lived.
A thorn shot into his leg, making him groan in pain, and before he could break it off, a green beam of energy struck him.
Derrick’s body flew, he managed to use his airstep to stabilize himself midair, but was smacked back down by what carried the force of a train.
Derrick’s body fell to the ground, several bones broken, and blood oozing from multiple orifices.
He struggled to stand up, his mind steeled, he had survived way worse.
His senses began to tingle, and without any hesitation he rolled over.
The ground where he was standing had been completely obliterated by the monster that stood before him.
Derrick opened his mouth in awe. Standing before him was a twenty-five-foot-tall giant made of trees, leaves and other forms of greenery.
Derrick stretched his hand and nullspire came to him, he stomped his feet on the ground and fixed his posture.
With Nullspire, he was more than confident in being able to take this thing down.
The beast moved and so did Derrick. Derrick’s feet hovered above the ground, with each step he gained more altitude, bringing him face to face with the beast.
The beast swung its hand, aiming to swat Derrick out of the air, but Derrick simply touched it with the tip of his blade, causing wither to rapidly spread.
Derrick smiled triumphantly, but that smile quickly vanished, as he noticed the barrage of thorns headed for his way.
Derrick did his best, dodging rapidly, and the ones he missed just bounced off his dragon scales.
’Why isn’t the entire thing crashing?’ Derrick asked himself.
The Nullspire sword was meant to completely delete the monster, but all it did was erode the monster’s hand.
[Compartmentalized magic.]
The system spoke. This time his voice was different, more refined, more human, it was akin to a male’s voice.
’What do you mean?’ Derrick asked while dodging the beam of green energy the creature fired from its mouth.
[Each body part of this beast runs from a separate magical source. Look closely, they aren’t even touching.]
Derrick focused using his dragon eyes and confirmed the system’s words.
The limbs of the creature were all a hair’s breadth apart from each other, almost like it had been built to counteract Nullspire.
’So what do I do?’ Derrick asked the system for advice. Since it had decided to speak, he assumed it was willing to help.
[Figure it out like you always do.]
The system’s response angered Derrick and he saw red.
Derrick dropped Nullspire, his hands rapidly folded into fists.
Without hesitation, he exploded forward, his speed was unlike anything he had ever unleashed before.
He leaped into the air, weaving through multiple attacks from the beast.
Dragon energy gathered around his fists, and without any hesitation he slammed both of them into the beast.
The beast jerked backwards, the sheer force of Derrick’s punch had shifted this colossal monster.
The beast swung its hand to swat Derrick once more, but this time Derrick stopped it. With a single hand!
Something unlike ever before appeared in the beast’s eyes, something eerily similar to fear.
Derrick didn’t stop there, punch after punch, he chipped away at the beast.
Each punch carried a shockwave that resonated through the body of the beast.
Derrick got low, he wrapped his hands around the leg of the beast and tried to lift it.
The beast’s leg lifted, and for a second it looked like it would work, but a kick from the beast sent him flying.
Derrick’s body broke several trees, and thorns impaled his body, but the attacks didn’t stop there.
The beast opened its mouth and fired a beam of green energy which hit Derrick, causing him unimaginable pain.
Derrick gritted his teeth, he steeled his resolve and managed to dragon flash away from danger, his body moving at a speed too fast for the beast to follow.
"That’s it." Derrick stretched his hand and nullspire appeared.
Before he could even take a step, his senses went haywire, warning him of the immense danger coming from all around him.
He turned to his back only to see another beast had formed. The stakes of this fight had doubled, but Derrick didn’t panic, instead he became calm...
His vision darkened and lines began to appear.
He took a sword stance and drew breath, his mind more focused than ever.
"You’re both dead!"
