Clumsy Beast, Keep Your Paws Off-Chapter 333: Alliance with Lion Trib
After the cheering died down, Su Mingxuan quickly began to issue orders. He did not waste a single second because he knew time was their greatest enemy. His voice was firm as he gave the command for the crowd to disperse.
"Every male beastman, listen carefully!" he shouted.
"Take your females and your cubs back to your houses immediately. Ensure they are safe and fed. But from this moment on, only one husband is allowed to stay at home to guard the family. Every other able-bodied male must report back here to the center to assist the tribe."
The plan was simple and straightforward.
The tribe leader explained that they had to work on two fronts.
First, a scout team had to go out and find exactly why the tribe was being targeted and how the beast tide was moving.
Second, they had to find a secret, safe location, likely a hidden cave or a high cliff...where they could shift the females, the elderly, and the cubs.
"The first things those evil ferocious beasts will target are our females and our children," Su Mingxuan said, his eyes darkening.
"We cannot leave them here in the open. We will move them and our most important food rations to a safe place immediately."
The plan was to split the force.
Half of the beastmen would escort the families to the safe zone and stay there to provide a final line of defense.
The other half, the strongest warriors, would remain in the tribe. They refused to simply let their homes be destroyed without a fight. They wanted to protect the houses and the land they had worked so hard to build.
Su Qinglan felt the urgency in the air. Her four husbands looked at each other, silently deciding who would stay with her.
Since Xuan Long was the most powerful, it was clear he would be the one to guard the house, and there was also another reason: he was not very familiar with the tribe at all.
Just as the Fox Tribe members were preparing to leave the center, a tall, golden figure moved.
To everyone’s astonished eyes, Shi Feng, the Lion King, stepped onto the high platform. He stood beside Su Mingxuan, his presence as powerful as a mountain.
"The Lion Tribe does not run from a fight," Shi Feng announced, his voice booming like thunder.
"We have eaten your food and slept under your roofs. We will not leave you to face this calamity alone. I, Shi Feng, vow that my warriors and I will assist the Fox Tribe. We will stand as your front line."
Everyone was completely stunned. A heavy silence fell over the square before it was broken by the roars of the other Lion Tribe men standing in the crowd.
"Yes! We will fight!" they shouted, raising their fists. "We are willing to help!"
The Fox Tribe people felt their throats tighten with emotion. Many were choked up, and some females even started to cry tears of relief.
No one had ever thought that a powerful tribe like the Lions would risk their lives for them. It seemed their kindness had not been in vain.
Usually, in the beast world, tribes only looked out for themselves.
The Lion Tribe could have easily packed their things and left. They didn’t live here; this wasn’t their mountain.
They had only come for shelter during the rainy season and had already paid their debt by hunting and providing meat for everyone. They owed the foxes nothing more.
But they chose to stay.
"The Lions are truly honorable," an old fox beastman whispered, wiping his eyes.
The fear that had been suffocating the villagers lightened just a little more. With the addition of the fierce Lion warriors, their chances of survival had just doubled.
Su Qinglan looked up at Shi Feng on the platform. He looked back at her for a brief second, his golden eyes steady and resolute. She felt a deep sense of gratitude.
The test the Priest spoke of was already bringing different tribes together in a way she had never seen before.
Maybe it was good for all of them, because she refused to believe that the fox tribe will perish. She would never allow it.
Su Mingxuan grasped Shi Feng’s forearm in a gesture of deep respect. "With the Lions at our side, the beast tide will find that the Fox Tribe is not easy prey."
Su Qinglan walked back toward the treehouse with Xuan Long and Lan Yue.
Xuan Long carried all the cubs, his expression as calm as stone despite the chaos.
The other husbands stayed behind at the center to begin the urgent work. All around them, the females were terrified, their faces pale as they hurried to their homes.
In the heavy quiet of the path, a female suddenly whispered loud enough for others to hear.
"Is the Beast God punishing us? Is it because we sheltered people from the Black Temple?"
The crowd froze. It was the same female who had previously accused Mu Lihua of being the reason the tribe lacked new cubs.
Her eyes were wide with fear as she continued, "It must be! No one who supports the Black Temple ever survives the wrath of the Beast God. We brought this on ourselves!"
Her husband quickly patted her shoulder and pulled her away to console her, but the damage was done. She had planted a deep seed of doubt and fear in everyone’s mind.
Even Su Mingxuan, standing on the platform, stiffened. His eyes clouded with a sudden, dark rage. He looked at the ground, wondering if it was true.
In this world, the Black Temple was considered cursed. Had his kindness to a few people truly brought destruction to his entire bloodline?
Su Qinglan heard the whispers and sighed, but she didn’t stop walking. She didn’t believe in curses.
Once they were away from the crowd, her expression became hard and focused. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
There has to be a reason, she thought. Back in her old world, zombies never formed a "tide" unless they were attracted by a specific scent or led by a higher power.
"Wait a minute," she murmured to herself.
She stopped walking and looked toward the dark peaks of other mountains.
"Xuan Long, think about it. There are many mountains in this forest. Many tribes live in different areas. Why is the priest saying only the Fox Tribe is bound to perish? Why would thousands of beasts ignore other tribes just to come here?"
Her eyes sharpened. "Either there is something hidden in our mountain that is attracting every evil ferocious beast for miles, or someone is intentionally leading them here to wipe us out."
