Clumsy Beast, Keep Your Paws Off-Chapter 463: Su Mingxuan’s Return
Yin Feng and Wang Mulan both turned their attention toward him. They gave a slight nod in acknowledgment.
Yin Feng spoke first, his voice steady and composed.
"What brought you here?" The beastman lowered his head slightly before responding.
"Lord Lan Shun has sent word."
At the mention of that name, several of the surrounding beastmen instinctively straightened.
A message... from him?
Yin Feng’s gaze sharpened faintly.
"...Speak."
The beastman nodded without hesitation. Then, clearly and without delay, he delivered the message.
"Su Mingxuan... has returned."
Silence, for a brief moment. Everything seemed to come to a halt.
Yin Feng’s eyes widened. Wang Mulan’s breath caught in her throat.
"...What?"
The word left both of them almost at the same time. The beastman did not pause.
"He is currently in Dragon Beast City."
The words fell heavily into the stillness.
Yin Feng’s expression turned serious in an instant, his thoughts beginning to race.
Su Mingxuan...was not he? His gaze fell on Wang Mulan. But before he could respond...
The beastman continued.
"There is one more message."
His tone remained respectful, yet there was a subtle shift within it.
As though the next words carried even greater weight. He lowered his head further.
"Lord Lan Shun said... the Priestess’s both daughters are safe."
"...!"
Wang Mulan’s body trembled. Her eyes widened instantly, shock flashing through them.
"...Both..."
The beastman completed the message without hesitation.
"They will soon arrive in Dragon Beast City."
Wang Mulan took a step back unconsciously. Her footing wavered, unsteady beneath her.
"...Both..."
Her lips trembled as the words escaped her once again. Both her daughters were fine; that means Lan Shun was talking about Lan Yue and her other daughter, right?
Had he already met her? Or how did he know that she was safe and returning to Dragon Beast City?
Her eyes widened in realization. Her daughter was really coming back.
"Yin Feng..." She clutched his arms and looked at him with wide eyes. "We are going back immediately to Dragon Beast City... I cannot stay here anymore."
Wang Mulan didn’t wait any longer.
The moment the words left her lips, her decision was already made.
Her fingers tightened slightly around Yin Feng’s arm, her eyes still wide, filled with urgency that could no longer be hidden. The calm priestess who moved at her own pace... was nowhere to be seen now.
Yin Feng looked at her for a brief moment, studying her expression. The shock, the urgency, the faint trembling that hadn’t completely faded... and that bright, uncontainable hope in her eyes.
Something had truly changed.
"...Alright," he replied simply.
That was enough.
The surrounding beastmen immediately straightened, their earlier confusion replaced with alertness. Orders didn’t need to be repeated twice. Within moments, the entire group has already packed everything.
The resting formation dissolved as everyone prepared to depart.
Soon, Yin Feng transformed into a large hawk, and Wang Mulan didn’t hesitate before mounting him. Moments later, the majestic bird soared high into the sky.
The other beastmen also shifted back into their beast forms...each one a flying creature.
One by one, they took to the skies, leaving behind the now-empty grounds of the White Temple.
As the group of beastmen disappeared into the distance, the tranquility of the temple returned.
***
The journey continued, the group moving steadily across the land at a much faster pace than before.
Su Qinglan sat atop Han Jue, her body leaning slightly forward as the wind brushed past her face; from this height, the land stretched far and wide. Her expression was calm, yet her eyes remained focused ahead, sharp and attentive.
Beside them, Hu Yan moved at a steady pace, but unlike before, he was not alone. The two tiger cubs clung tightly onto him...both of them...one on each side of his neck.
Their tiny paws dug into his thick fur as they held on firmly, their small bodies bouncing slightly with every step he took, and they were chewing his fur constantly.
"Grr... (Father...)"
"Grrr... (When will we reach...)"
Their soft, adorable voices sounded near his ears as they spoke between bites, completely unaware of the damage they were causing.
Hu Yan’s expression darkened slightly, his ear twitching before he said flatly, "...Stop chewing."
But the cubs didn’t stop...not even a little; they only tightened their grip.
Far ahead, Xiao San sat proudly atop his father’s head, right at the crown, his small body swaying slightly with the movement yet remaining perfectly balanced, his tiny eyes looking far into the distance.
"Sss..." (So big...)
The world appears entirely different from up there.
Behind them, Shi Feng and Rong Ye walked side by side, each carrying a portion of the supplies, their steps steady and expressions calm, though a faint weariness lingered in their movements.
Further back, the mermaid tribe followed step by step; unlike the others, they had no choice but to walk, their marine forms useless on land, and with so many of them, there was simply no way to carry everyone.
So they moved slowly and quietly...even though Shi Feng and Rong Ye could help, there were too many, and the distance was still long.
Now, the third day had already passed, yet more than half of the journey still remained.
Up ahead, "Grr... (Father...)" "Grrr... (How much longer...)" the tiger cubs spoke again, their voices filled with impatience as they continued chewing on Hu Yan’s neck fur.
Hu Yan exhaled slowly. "...Not long."
After a pause, the cub asked again. "Grr..." (I am hungry.)
Hu Yan’s steps paused for half a second. "You just ate," he replied flatly.
"Grrr..." (I am hungry again.)
Silence followed as Hu Yan closed his eyes briefly before speaking again. "...Take something from the bag on my back. But if you drop it on me..." his tone turning colder, "...I will throw both of you off."
"You can walk on your paws."
The reaction was immediate both cubs froze before protesting loudly.
"Grrowl!! (No!!)" 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
"Grrrowl!! (That’s unfair!!)" Their tiny faces scrunching up in anger as they glare down at him, their paws gripping even tighter.
"Grr!" (We will ride Father Rong Ye!)
"Grrr!" (If not him, then Fish Lion is also there!)
"Grr!" (And if not...)
"Grrr!!" (We will squeeze with Brother Xiao San!!) Their voices rose one after another, filled with bold confidence.
Hu Yan’s expression went completely blank.
"...Try it." His tone was calm, but it definitely had a threat.
The cubs immediately fell silent, their ears drooping slightly before they slowly turned their heads away.
"...Grr..." (We will not drop food...)
"...Grr..." (We are good cubs...) and just like that, they obediently reached for the bag...carefully.
