Chapter 12: The ground shakes inside the Great Forest.

Three days later.

"Man, sitting up on this mountain blows. I heard the 101st had fun raiding those four villages two nights ago. They also were bragging about the hot women they saved, fucking Army." A LCpl complained next to his Cpl, making him roll his eyes. "Do your fucking job, when does the Marines complain about the army." The Cpl spoke back as the fog was thick this morning, making him put on his thermals to see through it.

But the Cpl did have to admit he was itching for a taste of action, and from what people say, the women in this world are amazing. He did not think about marrying, but if he could find a woman who fit his taste, he wouldn't mind putting a ring on one. As he was in thought, the LCpl hit his shoulder.

"Do you hear that?" He said it was early in the morning, just after first light, but a thud could be heard off in the distance. The Cpl tried to determine what it was, but it hit him. It was the sound of drums.

Pulling out the nano drone and letting it fly as he looked at the screen on his wrist, he switched to thermal vision and froze, grabbing the radio. "Spartan, this is Recon Delta 2, an army of about 14,000 moving through passage two. I repeat, the enemy army of about 14,000 is moving through passage two. How copy." The Cpl radio to the TOC as General Patton heard that a shit eating grin spread across his face.

"I copy, pull back to your fallback point 3 to walk in arty if need be. Out." General Patton picked up another radio. "Reaper, this is Spartan, enemy sighted in passage two, request fire mission on that passage opening fire mission point 12, whole brigade, ten rounds. I repeat the request for fire missions on fire point 12, whole brigade, ten rounds. How copy?" General Patton called General Frederick the new General for the other FOB. "I copy, fire missions on fire point 12, all cannons ten rounds. Out." Reaper responded.

Time to wake this forest up, General Patton chuckled. "Pass my order, the M777 brigade will fire ten rounds at fire point 12. I repeat ten rounds every cannon at fire point 12." He yelled in the TOC 108 M777, dropping 155mm rounds on that opening, the glorious carnage that will befall the enemies of his Emperor.

"Have the Apaches in the air waiting 25km south of the firing point. After the artillery is done, I want them to clean up the leftovers and ensure no one leaves that valley alive." He told his XO before picking up the radio for New Rome and relaying the information to General Matthews.

I was getting dressed when the XO for Matthews ran in, and I covered the two girls as they were watching me get dressed naked. "I apologize, Emperor, but the enemy has shown their heads." I froze when I heard it was a day sooner than I had thought, but it was not far from my plan. "What is General Patton going to do?" I asked while tying my boots. "He plans to use the M777 on fire point 12, then mop them up with a squadron of Apaches." He explained, and I nodded.

"Ladies, get dressed. I want to show you how we fight wars, and I am not talking about how I did it while saving you," I said, making the XO step out of the tent as the girls put on their dresses. Then, we left the tent. I got to the TOC in three minutes and heard the radio telling me they were ready to fire; we had just made it in time.

Within the horde of Orcs.

"Gurk, what do you see?" an older Orc asked. There is too much fog. I have to send him closer. Give me a minute." As he sent his eagle closer, he stopped in his tracks. "It wasn't like this three days ago!" Gurk yelled. 'What is going on, Gurk?" The older Orc looked at Gruk like he was crazy.

"Uncle, the village has been replaced with buildings I haven't seen before and odd objects. Let's retreat until we know what is going on here," Gurk said, looking at his uncle, who scuffed at the word retreat.

"YOU WANT US TO RETREAT FROM HUMANS ON OUR LAND! YOU COWARD!" Another older Orc roared at Gurk, but he stood fast. Nothing adds up; he feels these humans aren't like the others they have fought; they have the same feeling as Orcs, those who thirst for blood and carnage, but to a profound degree, like they made war an art form and one that makes his soul feel fear. Gurk has never felt this feeling before, not on the battlefield, the sense of death hanging over his head, ready to take his head at any moment.

"Let me see, " his uncle said, silencing the other older Orc. Gruk had never failed them before, so he would see what he saw first before making a judgment.

As the old Orc looked at the things pointing at the sky, he asked, "What are those strange things?" He stopped momentarily before seeing humans running around them doing things. What odd humans, he thought, until a flash of smoke shot out of those things. "What are the humans up to?" he shrugged.

"We will keep moving-" Just as he was about to give his order, an explosion rang out from behind them in the middle of the Army, then another one behind that, and then one in front of that. Hell had broken loose as screams of the dying and the roars of those in pain. The valley walls started to shake, making boulders roll; it was like the whole forest was shaking in anger.

They looked back at Gurk's mirror only to look up, hearing something flying straight at them, and then darkness.

Back at the TOC.

The women watch on in shock as the Orc army that was 14,000 strong starts to widdle down to a few thousand after the firing from those strange objects as the firing stops. The Apaches came in, cleaning up the leftover four thousand before returning to base.

"Tell General Patton and General Frederick I want those two lower-tribe villages this evening. I haven't built a COP for the last couple of days, but I wanted to make one into an FOB, as it's the closest village to the next two areas, the one right above us and right next to us. I will build one of those to launch my assault on the next area, and tomorrow I will make the other." I said before, turning to the two and seeing the look of wonder but also horror, war has never been this fast or brutal. It wasn't even a fighting chance; they knew their Emperor was destined to be something no one could deal with at this moment.

"Shall we get something to eat? I am hungry after running," I said, smirking, making them quiver a little at how useful I seemed to this. Well, that's understandable, as this was how wars on Earth were fought. "Don't try to understand where I am from, war is more destructive than here," I said with as much of a gentle smile as possible.
