Conquering the underworld with my beautiful dragon wives-Chapter 46: The Queen’s Flames—the Dragon Eggs
The heavy, weird air of this new world still smelled like burnt ashes and fire. The sky was spinning with black and red clouds, and the ground was covered in purple grass and trees with silver leaves.
Far away, you could see huge mountain shadows and the glow of volcanoes.
Ethan was standing next to Fayra, that weird golden mark still on his hand.
The others were gathered around, a bit tired and confused.
Right then, a loud roar came from the sky.
Luna quickly hid behind Fayra.
"Oh my God! Fayraaa what’s that sound?!"
Fayra frowned, staring at the horizon.
Suddenly, from inside those fiery clouds, a huge dragon came down — burning red, its wings tearing the sky, the ground shaking under it.
Its glowing eyes locked straight onto Fayra.
The dragon spoke, with a deep, ancient voice, like it came from a thousand years back.
"Fayra... you have returned. It’s time for the key’s heir to come to the Queen’s castle."
Fayra took a small step back, hand on her sword.
She looked at Ethan.
"Um... Ethan... it’s saying we have to go to the Queen’s castle. Now. No wasting time."
Luna rushed forward.
"Castle what? Queen who? Where even are we right now?!"
Alice flipped through her notebook.
"According to every rule I know... none of this should even be happening."
Ethan put his hands on his hips.
"Well... I was kinda starting to like this place. What’s with this castle trip now?"
Fayra took a deep breath.
"Ethan... this world... it’s the dragon world. It was made for us. And now... you’ve become the key of this world. Which means... everything here is connected to you."
Selena spoke with a serious face.
"Then we have to go. No wasting time."
The dragon didn’t say anything else, just turned and flew east. Fayra raised her hand.
"Come on... the castle’s that way. We don’t have a choice, we have to follow."
The trip wasn’t long.
It was like the paths moved by themselves.
The trees bent, rivers made way.
After a few hours of walking, they reached the huge castle gates.
A giant fortress made of black and gold bricks, with balconies covered in blue flames.
Hundreds of dragons flying in the sky.
The gates opened on their own the moment Ethan got close.
Alice joked,
"Well well, Ethan... didn’t know you were this popular, man!"
Ethan smirked.
"Yeah... guess I just found out too."
Inside the castle, there was a big hall, with tall columns made of ancient dragon bones.
Old songs echoing through the air.
In the middle of the hall, the Dragon Queen stood — a tall woman with silver hair, red eyes, and a cloak made of living flames.
The moment the group walked in, all the dragons there — even the ones in human form — knelt down.
The Queen smiled softly, walking toward Ethan.
"Welcome... heir of the key."
Everyone was silent.
Luna whispered to Selena,
"Dude... they’re actually kneeling to this guy!"
Fayra bit her lip.
"Can’t believe it myself..."
The Queen went on.
"From the moment you got that golden mark... this world found a new master.
But this power... comes with a price.
The book and sword you carry... they’re in danger now.
A dark force... is coming. It wants them.
To fight it... take these three dragon eggs."
She pulled out a fancy-looking box next to her throne — inside were three huge eggs, colored turquoise, violet, and gold. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
"These... are the future of this world.
But unlike Fayra, Selena, and Luna... they can’t take human form.
They’re pure. The purest dragon bloodline."
Luna’s face dropped.
"What? You mean... we weren’t enough?"
Selena clenched her teeth.
"She thinks... we’re gonna betray her?"
Fayra looked away from the Queen.
"So... she doesn’t trust us."
The Queen, like she’d heard them, said,
"No... I trust you. But this war... isn’t yours.
These ones... they’re eternal guardians.
When you’re gone... this world will still be safe."
Ethan turned to the girls.
"Hey... without you guys... I’m not going anywhere.
No stupid egg’s ever taking your place."
Luna smiled.
"If that’s how it is... fine."
Fayra lowered her sword.
"Alright... but I’m keeping my eyes open."
After taking the eggs, the Queen ordered a big feast.
Dozens of dragons in human form gathered in the castle yard.
Traditional dragon music played.
Weird, magical foods lined the long tables.
Ethan sat down next to Alice.
Alice laughed.
"Yo... what happens if one of these eggs cracks open while cooking?"
Ethan burst out laughing.
"Maybe... a dragon omelette?"
Selena glared.
"I swear I’ll eat you instead."
Everyone cracked up.
When the red and orange light of the morning sky spilled over the golden walls of the castle, the sound of dragons’ wings beating filled the air like a storm. Ethan stretched and got out of the soft, warm bed that felt like a dragon’s nest.
Luna, with her messy hair sticking out everywhere, grumbled from under the blanket.
"Why is there a ceremony wherever we go? Just lemme sleep, dammit..."
Selena, tightening up her armor that still smelled like smoke, said seriously,
"Because... we were guests of the dragon queen. And now the whole court’s gonna see us off. So... go brush your teeth!"
Luna threw a pillow at her.
"Oh shut up... I talk to giant dragons, and you’re telling me to brush my teeth?!"
Ethan, while putting his clothes on, smirked.
"Yeah... ’cause giant dragons don’t stink... but you do."
Everyone burst out laughing.
Fayra, who was already ready, opened the door with a sly smile.
"Move it... the queen’s waiting."
Alice followed behind, mumbling with her notebook in hand.
"Thank god physics doesn’t work properly here... ’cause these people really shouldn’t be able to fly!"
The castle’s main square was packed with dragons in human form. Some were wearing blue cloaks, some had flaming swords hanging from their belts. Drums and flutes echoed everywhere.
The queen stood on a tall platform — her fiery robe and silver hair dancing in the wind. As the group got closer, every dragon in the place knelt down at once.
Ethan stood with his hands on his hips and quietly told Alice,
"Hey... am I like... the boss here?"
Alice laughed.
"More like the boss of lazy dragons."
The queen stepped forward. Her sharp, echoing voice filled the place.
"Sons and daughters of fire... today these champions, guardians of our sacred eggs, leave on their journey. Key-bearer... from the moment this power landed in your hands... the world has changed."
She locked eyes with Ethan.
"And you know... if I had even half the power you hold... this world would already belong to me, Key-bearer."
A heavy silence fell.
Selena whispered,
"Whoa... that was intense."
Luna winked.
"Well... at least now we know what she wanted!"
Ethan was a little thrown off, but smiled and nodded.
"I... might not know what I’ve got. But I know... if I’m gonna use this power, it’ll be for the people next to me."
The queen smiled softly.
"Then... leave this place. Until it’s time."
A moment later, the sound of hundreds of dragons’ wings filled the sky. Fiery banners shook in the wind. The way out was open.
Everyone followed behind Fayra, walking through the gates.
Fayra muttered,
"Today... the real work begins. I have to wake these eggs."
Luna tapped the golden egg inside the small box in Fayra’s hands.
"When do these things even hatch?"
Fayra shot her a death glare.
"If you touch it again, I swear it’ll hatch right here and eat you."
Alice peeked over her notebook.
"Actually... according to this world’s biology, dragon eggs need direct magical energy and a key-bearer’s blood signature. Which means Ethan has to—"
Ethan, who was munching on an apple, said with his mouth full,
"Wait — I have to what?!"
Everyone turned to him.
Fayra sighed.
"You have to... give blood. A drop for each egg."
Luna laughed.
"Look who’s got a job now... Mister Key-bearer, this is your destiny, bro!"
Selena spoke seriously,
"You sure this isn’t dangerous?"
Fayra shrugged.
"If it was, I wouldn’t keep ’em around my neck."
Fayra pulled out the stuff she needed; a glowing stone, a shiny dagger, and a ring covered in runes.
Alice mumbled,
"If these things start moving, I’m hiding behind Luna."
Luna tilted her head.
"I’ll punch you if you do."
Fayra handed the dagger to Ethan.
"Ready?"
Ethan smiled.
"Well... I’ve survived everything else so far... let’s do this too."
A drop of Ethan’s blood landed on each egg.
At first... nothing.
Selena said,
"Um... did it work?"
Luna cracked up.
"Maybe they’re duck eggs!"
But then... the golden egg started glowing.
The sound of cracks filled the air.
Fayra quickly stepped back.
"Wait... wait... this is too soon—"
The egg shattered, and a cute little creature, small but with shiny wings and fire-bright eyes, popped out.
Luna stared.
"Whaaat... is this thing for real?"
The tiny creature smiled and sparked a little flame.
Ethan burst out laughing.
"Oh man... we got ourselves a spark-shooting baby dragon!"
Fayra was stunned.
"This... this is the first pure-blood dragon born in a thousand years..."
Then the second egg started making noise.
Selena’s eyes widened.
"That one’s hatching too...!"
And this was just the start...
Three little dragons, each with their own color, their own power — and definitely, their own kind of trouble.
And now Ethan...
Not only was he the key-bearer of this world, but apparently... the dad of three fire-breathing troublemakers too.
