Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever-Chapter 122: Helpless Before Justin Huxley
Summer Lowell was just about to find an excuse to refuse when Noah suddenly spoke up, "What a coincidence, I was actually planning to take her along to attend this birthday banquet too."
Justin Huxley smiled and said to Summer, "President Norris values you highly!"
"She’s a key player under me, of course, I would," Noah glanced at Summer and then added, "President Huxley is a man of great talent, surely you don’t lack a companion?"
"Please don’t say that, President Norris," Justin waved his hand with a helpless expression, "If Summer heard that and misunderstood, it would be bad. Besides, I am usually very particular about keeping myself clean and proper. In Stellarion, apart from my sister, I don’t have any other suitable girls around me."
After speaking, Justin looked at Summer uneasily, "Your boss is really humorous."
Summer smiled awkwardly, regretting in her heart that she should have asked the assistant at the door about who Noah was receiving before coming in. If she had known Justin was here, she definitely wouldn’t have come in.
Noah too was behaving strangely, meddling without any reason today.
Justin noticed that Noah seemed to be opposing him, and a dark look flashed in his eyes.
He began to unobtrusively observe the way Noah looked at Summer.
Interesting, the girl who used to be bullied and cowered in the corner with red eyes is now so popular.
One after another, they all seem interested in her.
Suddenly feeling competitive, Justin smiled with determination, "Come with me, Summer. It will help you make contacts beneficial for your career."
President Norris, who was smooth and tactful, sniffed the gunpowder in the air and casually reminded Summer, "Given the Sinclair Family’s status in the industry, Old Master Sinclair’s eightieth birthday will definitely be a grand event, and most attendees won’t be ordinary people. Director Lowell, do you have the confidence to handle it well?"
Not fond of socializing, Summer showed a troubled expression upon hearing this, "President Norris, why don’t you take others from the company? I’m afraid my presence would just waste a spot."
"Not going is also fine. After all, with your unique disposition, I’m afraid if you go, something unexpected might happen again." Noah rubbed his chin and agreed with Summer.
After all, in every event where Maxim Sinclair was present, Summer always encountered various incidents.
This time, it’s the Sinclair’s main event.
To be sure, it seemed safer not to let her go from the start.
With just a few words, the two reached a consensus, leaving Justin, who came here specifically today to invite Summer as his companion, with a hint of displeasure in his eyes.
He concealed the disdain in his eyes and started talking naturally about the recent stock market.
After all, there are still several days until the banquet, plans can never keep up with changes, and he has plenty of ways to persuade Summer to attend the banquet with him.
A few days ago, Julian Huxley had already met with Old Master Huxley and managed to win his favor.
The recent news was that Julian used unknown means to coax Old Master Huxley to the riverside villa, where he also moved in.
This matter had Tina’s father so worried that he personally called Justin to urge him to quickly facilitate Tina’s engagement to Maxim Sinclair.
As long as the marriage alliance between their side and the Sinclairs is finalized, there would be no fear of Julian stirring things up again.
With a pile of work on hand, Summer, after refilling both their coffees, said, "President Norris, Senior, I still have work to do. Please continue your conversation."
With that, she quietly exited the office.
Not a single thing happened all day.
After work, Summer bid farewell to her colleagues with a smile and walked briskly towards the subway station with her bag on her back.
While waiting for the red light at the intersection, her phone suddenly rang. She looked at it, and to her surprise, it was another call from Justin Huxley.
Summer looked at the screen with mixed feelings. Truth be told, she didn’t really want to answer this call.
But then she thought about how often she ran into Justin on this street. If he happened to see her not answering the phone nearby, that would be embarrassing.
With no other choice, Summer reluctantly pressed the call button, "Hey, Senior, you’re looking for me? I’m on the way right now, it might be a bit noisy around."
"I know you’re on the road. Look ahead, I’m at the intersection in front of you."
Following Justin’s direction, Summer looked up and indeed saw him waving at her from not far off.
[So he really is nearby, good thing I picked up the call.]
She sighed inwardly and jogged over to Justin, "Is there something urgent you need from me?"
"I was driving past and noticed it was just about your time to get off work. I thought taking the subway might be inconvenient for you, so I decided to give you a ride home."
Thinking there’s no such thing as a free lunch, Summer refused with an uneasy tone, "Thank you, Senior, but I’ve already made plans with Vivian to go shopping later, so I don’t want to trouble you to drive me."
What Summer said wasn’t true; Vivian was working the night shift and they hadn’t planned to go shopping at all.
She just really didn’t want to take Justin’s car home.
Justin’s persistence was starting to make Summer feel pressured.
"Alright then, guess I missed my chance today." Justin sighed regretfully, opened the car door, and took out a bag of sugar-roasted chestnuts, handing it to Summer, "I bought you snacks. I figured on the way home you could try them out and tell me if you like these."
Summer looked at the chestnuts in front of her uneasily, "I remember you like these too, Senior. Why don’t you have them instead? I won’t take something you enjoy."
"But these were bought especially for you!" Without giving her a chance to refuse, Justin forced the bag of chestnuts into Summer’s hands, "Take it. If you don’t like them, tell me and I’ll get you something else next time."
After saying this, Justin got back into the car and reminded Summer standing outside, "Don’t just stand out there stupidly. Go find a nearby drinks shop and sit inside while waiting for your friend."
With no other choice, Summer shoved the bag of chestnuts into her bag and reciprocally reminded Justin, "Senior, drive safely!"
"Yes, I will. I’ll message you once I get home safe." Justin smiled at her, then started the engine and drove off.
Once the car was far off, Justin retracted his gaze from the rearview mirror, and his handsome, gentle face turned cold and expressionless.
"Ha, she actually learned to refuse me." Justin stepped on the gas pedal hard, "The girl who used to cling to me incessantly has changed after all."
Back at the original spot, Summer, who had said she was waiting for someone, followed the crowd to the nearest subway station and took the subway home.
A few more days passed, and after the morning meeting, Summer was called into Noah’s office.
"President Norris, what’s the matter you need me for?"
"Perfect timing, I have something to discuss with you."
