Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever-Chapter 190: Summer Lowell, I Finally Found You
Mrs. Huxley seemed a bit disapproving of her choice of dress: "Miss Lowell’s dress today looks like a sky blue mermaid gown. If you wear red, it might appear as though you’re trying to steal the spotlight."
"That’s exactly what I intend to do—steal her spotlight."
The expression on Tina Huxley’s face revealed a hint of viciousness.
Mrs. Huxley, mindful of Mr. Huxley’s advice, took the dress from Tina’s hand and tried to persuade her gently: "Doing this would embarrass your brother Justin. If Miss Lowell quarrels with him over this, it would be a considerable fault on your part."
"If they quarrel, so be it. It’s a good chance for my brother to see her true nature."
Tina didn’t think it was a big deal and even seemed quite justified, "Does she really think she’s worthy of competing with me?" 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
"Alright, stop being stubborn now."
Mrs. Huxley, displeased, snatched the gown once more and returned it to the rack. "Listen to me, Justin is helping your father with his affairs now; you shouldn’t do anything to upset him."
Tina wanted to argue further, but seeing Mrs. Huxley’s insistence, she reluctantly hummed a few discontented notes but eventually agreed: "Fine, I’ll change."
Meanwhile, elsewhere.
Summer Lowell stood up from before the dressing table, walked outside, and asked Justin Huxley, who had just finished a phone call in formal attire: "Should we go down now?"
Justin couldn’t hide the amazement in his eyes: "Seeing you like this, I almost don’t want to let you go down to meet the guests."
"Is it really that exaggerated?"
Summer lowered her head and smiled, "It’s almost time; let’s go down."
Summer clasped his arm and walked downstairs. Just at the staircase entrance, Justin suddenly stopped.
"What’s wrong?" Summer asked, puzzled, "Did you forget something?"
The butler, who had come up to remind them of the time, hurriedly replied, "I’ll go get it. Young Master Vaughn, did you forget something?"
Justin narrowed his eyes and discreetly observed the tall, slim figure in the distance.
It was Maxim Sinclair.
He hadn’t expected him to arrive so quickly.
Beside him, Summer was still asking in a low voice. Justin slightly shook his head, "Nothing, just got lost in thought for a moment. Let’s go down; the guests are all waiting."
With applause and cheers sounding in the hall, Maxim Sinclair seemed to sense something and turned around, casting a subtle look at the two making their way down the long staircase.
Assistant Collins was visibly uneasy, sneaking a glance at Maxim Sinclair.
It was one thing to suspect, but seeing it confirmed was another.
Up until that moment, Assistant Collins still believed that Justin was not engaged to Summer Lowell.
Now, seeing Summer Lowell, whom he recently addressed as Mrs. Sinclair, his heart felt as if it had been struck by lightning.
Maxim Sinclair’s gaze burned too intensely for Summer and Justin to ignore.
Justin slightly adjusted his position to shield Summer from Maxim’s view, leading her towards a group of close acquaintances gathering nearby.
From a distance, Maxim watched intently, and as he saw Justin’s hand resting on Summer’s waist, he unconsciously crushed the wine glass in his hand.
The sound of breaking glass startled Assistant Collins, who was closest to him.
Assistant Collins summoned a nearby waiter while keeping a close eye on the situation.
Fortunately, most people’s attention was on the couple, and Maxim Sinclair’s imposing presence dissuaded anyone from approaching him, especially with the aura of unapproachability he exuded today.
Assistant Collins glanced around, pulled a handkerchief from his pocket, and offered it to Maxim Sinclair: "President Sinclair, please wipe the wine from your hands. Did any glass shards cut you?"
Maxim Sinclair declined the handkerchief and withdrew his own, slowly wiping his fingers.
Throughout, his gaze never left Summer, who was laughing gleefully in the distance.
Unable to resist his curiosity, Assistant Collins sneaked a peek at Maxim’s eyes but was quickly frightened into averting his gaze.
Since working for Maxim Sinclair, he had never seen such a darkly menacing look in his eyes.
That look...
Just witnessing it made him silently pray for Justin Huxley in his heart.
To dare to compete with Maxim Sinclair for someone, it seemed no one could save you.
At that moment, Summer shivered inexplicably, and Justin, with his hand around her waist, noticed her subtle movement. He beckoned to a butler and asked for a shawl for her.
This gesture evoked another round of good-natured teasing and laughter from those around, playfully dubbing him a doting husband.
Also subjected to teasing, Summer smiled bashfully. As Justin laughed and joked with their friends, she took the chance to sneak a glance around the venue.
She felt as if there was a particularly cold gaze glued to her back.
With Justin’s hand still on her waist, Summer could only subtly glance right, then left.
At that moment, the butler returned with the shawl and handed it to Justin.
Justin took the shawl, casually chatting with a long-unseen acquaintance, and gently wrapped it around Summer.
To accommodate his action, Summer turned around.
In doing so, she came face-to-face with Maxim Sinclair, who had been watching her all along.
When Maxim saw Summer looking at him, he slowly curled his lips into a smile, mouthing silently, "Summer Lowell, I’ve finally found you!"
Summer met his gaze and froze.
Why did this person seem so familiar?
Justin noticed Summer’s tense posture and looked up to see Maxim Sinclair staring at him with a playful yet unfriendly smile.
Feeling a sinking sensation inside, Justin made an excuse to dispatch the friends still gathered around to get drinks.
He then led Summer towards Maxim Sinclair.
Summer continued to stare at Maxim Sinclair, rooted to the spot, her feet unwilling to move.
A deep sense of familiarity stirred from within her soul.
Who was this person?
Why did she feel this way?
Both Maxim and Justin noticed her unusual reaction.
Maxim Sinclair’s already dark expression grew even more severe.
In contrast, Justin chuckled and affectionately kissed Summer by the ear, teasing, "What’s wrong? Did you find that person so scary you can’t move?"
"Of course not, stop joking," Summer replied, giving him a playful glare. "I just think his gaze is a little frightening. Who is he?"
Summer whispered to avoid being overheard, making her and Justin seem like a genuinely affectionate couple.
Justin nudged her forward, and when they were about three meters from Maxim Sinclair, he teased in a low voice by her ear: "That’s the guy who’s determined to break us apart. Be cautious with what you say; he can be quite intimidating."
