Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever-Chapter 201: Beginning to Avoid Justin Huxley
"So it’s possible," Justin Huxley thought of Summer Lowell, "After all, the rumor is that he’s the kind who’d choose beauty over power."
...
"Thank you," Summer Lowell said to the nurse who was measuring her blood pressure, "By the way, is Dr. Jacobs not here today?"
The young nurse, with a sweet and gentle voice, replied, "Yes, Dr. Jacobs isn’t here right now, he’s in a meeting at the front. Do you need him? If it’s urgent, I can call him, he instructed us before."
"What did he instruct?" Summer adjusted her sleeve, "Did he say to call him whenever I need him?"
The nurse chuckled, revealing a row of pearly teeth, "Yes, that’s exactly what he said. He mentioned that you’re a very important patient, and he needs to keep an eye on your condition at all times. If you feel the slightest discomfort, we must call him."
Summer’s eyes shifted slightly, and after a moment, she casually asked the nurse, "By the way, I heard Dr. Jacobs is a personal doctor?"
"Yes," the nurse glanced at her peculiarly, "The President Sinclair who brought you to the hospital last time, he’s quite close to Dr. Jacobs, and Dr. Jacobs is his personal physician."
So it really was like that.
With her suspicions confirmed, Summer felt a subtle emotion rising in her heart.
The bad guy that Justin Huxley spoke of, who supposedly did all sorts of evil things, seemed to treat her really well.
As she was lost in thought,
Justin Huxley walked in through the door.
Upon seeing him, Summer put on a genuinely delighted expression, "You came so quickly; didn’t you say you’d be delayed a bit?"
"Finished up quickly because I was eager to see you," Justin handed her the snacks he brought, "I passed by a restaurant you like, and since they were open, I got you some pastries. I hope you like them."
Summer cheerfully exclaimed, opened the box, and lightly took a bite of the egg roll inside.
So sweet and sugary!
Did she really used to like such sugary things?
"How is it? Do you like the taste?" Justin watched her intently, seemingly observing her reaction.
Not wanting to hurt his feelings, Summer smiled and asked, "It’s really sweet. Did I use to like these sweet things?"
Justin reached out and ruffled her hair, "You used to lead a tough life, so you didn’t get to eat sweets often, which made you love them more, but later you didn’t indulge as much."
No wonder her first reaction was to spit it out after taking a bite.
Justin took the snack from her hand, put it back in the box, then grabbed a napkin, and held it out under her chin, "If you don’t like it, you can just spit it out. People’s tastes change."
Summer shook her head and forced herself to swallow the snack, "It felt a bit too sweet initially, but after more bites, it’s okay. I think it might be this restaurant’s cook’s skill."
"Makes sense," Justin laughed heartily, then looked around with concern, "It’s all my fault. I shouldn’t have agreed to go to Cantova with your father. I was stuck there because he insisted, otherwise I would’ve come back earlier to be with you. Did you get scared being in this hospital room alone?"
"Of course not," Summer shook her head with a smile, "Vivian Sullivan has been with me, so I’m not scared at all, though she might be troublesome."
Hearing Justin’s words of concern, Summer suddenly thought of Maxim Sinclair.
Their concern wasn’t fake, which made her feel confused again.
Which one of them was telling the truth?
"Thank goodness Vivian was here," Justin said with relief, sitting by her bedside, and putting an arm around her shoulders, "I heard from Vivian that you fainted after meeting Maxim Sinclair that day? What did he do to you?"
Summer raised her hand to her temple, "I can’t remember clearly. It seemed like he was saying a lot of inexplicable things, but I can’t recall exactly what. And whenever I try to think about it, my head hurts a lot."
"If it bothers you, stop thinking about it," Justin relaxed, gently massaging her forehead, "How do you feel now? If you’re not very uncomfortable, how about I take you home? The hospital is so cold and impersonal. At home, I can take care of you personally, much better than these nurses."
She knew he would persuade her to return to the Huxley residence eventually.
Summer didn’t want to go, but she couldn’t find a suitable excuse to keep staying in the hospital.
After some thought, Summer decided to mention Vivian, "Speaking of which, I have something I want to discuss with you."
"Go ahead," Justin let go of her hand and focused on her, "What do you want to discuss? Don’t hesitate, just say what’s on your mind."
"Well, Vivian Sullivan isn’t staying in the hospital dorm anymore. She found a place, but she feels uncomfortable living alone, so I want to stay with her for a while."
Summer watched Justin’s expression as she explained.
Justin nodded after listening, "I understand. You feel bad for your friend and want to be with her, right?"
"Yes, I probably won’t stay for long. By the way, what happened to my things? You said my belongings got lost when I went out to sea, and they still haven’t been found?"
"Still looking for them," Justin pinched her earlobe, pretending to be a bit aggrieved, "You care more for Vivian Sullivan than for me. We haven’t seen each other in so long, and you’re saying you want to move to her place."
His reaction made Summer feel slightly repelled, but she didn’t dare show her irritation.
Taking advantage of bending down to pick something up, she hid her true emotions and playfully tapped Justin, "I’m just staying with her for a while, not forever!"
In reality, she planned to stay until her memory returned.
She couldn’t discern who was genuine between Justin and Maxim.
Finding a place far from both seemed safest.
Justin didn’t dare press her too hard; he knew Summer’s personality, pulling her too much would only make her suspicious.
Besides, Maxim was still lurking, possibly ready to make a move, so he couldn’t give him that opportunity.
Justin affectionately embraced Summer, rubbing his chin on her head, "Once we’re home, I’ll help you pack your things and take you to Vivian Sullivan’s place. But since she’s a doctor, she might be very busy on duty, and you might end up spending a lot of time alone."
