Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever-Chapter 270: I Will Entangle You for a Lifetime
Summer Lowell looked at the unsightly comments on her phone screen, then tentatively asked Maxim Sinclair, "In the eyes of those people, you seem not as good as Justin Huxley."
"Justin Huxley has someone under him who, before working for him, specialized in online trolling. Ninety percent of what you’ve found online is intentionally distributed by him."
Maxim Sinclair tugged at the scruff of a kitten’s neck and said with a laugh, "Let me tell you something amusing, Justin Huxley originally planned to use you as a target, setting you up for attack in front of the netizens."
"I’m not a public figure, nor do I have any major influence. Besides, I haven’t done anything outrageous. How would they attack me?" Summer Lowell scoffed, rescuing the kitten from Maxim Sinclair’s hands, "Don’t tease it like that."
"Just being my wife is enough to spark curiosity among those people," Maxim Sinclair released his grip, brushing cat hair off his hand, "Justin Huxley is currently boosting his own image, yet Old Master Huxley is still the chairman of Omni Group."
"I guessed his goal was this," Summer Lowell was unsurprised, absently petting the kitten’s back, "They’re saying online that the Sinclair Group is in turmoil, that you’re too young, lacking experience, and unable to steer such a big ship as the Sinclair Group."
"Thank you for your concern, but unfortunately, these things were all arranged by Justin Huxley to be spread, and their truthfulness is questionable." Maxim Sinclair leaned in closer to Summer Lowell, smiling, "If the Sinclair Group really went down, you and I would truly be bound together forever, you understand?"
Summer Lowell bit her lip gently; she understood Maxim Sinclair’s implication.
If the Sinclair Group were to decline because of this incident, Maxim Sinclair would be even less likely to let her go easily.
More severely, she might spend the rest of her life being tormented by Maxim Sinclair.
"You have a way to prevent the Sinclair Group from declining, don’t you?" Summer Lowell stared intently at Maxim Sinclair, "You just said that the disparaging comments online were spread by Justin Huxley, and he doesn’t actually grasp the real situation of the Sinclair Group."
"Have you finally come to your senses and started worrying for yourself?" Maxim Sinclair leisurely looked at Summer Lowell, "Look at how scared you are, your face is a bit pale."
Summer Lowell continued to stare at him unblinkingly.
Maxim Sinclair leaned in and reminded her slowly, "Assistant Collins has been coming to see me a lot these days, you’ve noticed. Doesn’t his expression resemble that of someone about to lose their job? Those days you lost your job, your face looked a lot like his."
"I don’t believe you. If things were really as serious as you say, you should be heading back to the company to discuss strategies with your team, instead of staying at home, clinging to me." Summer Lowell finally pinpointed a flaw.
"I would love to go back and discuss strategies, to deal with Justin Huxley and curb his arrogance. Unfortunately, your beloved senior’s actions indirectly led the board to sideline me. Even though I want to save it, I’m powerless."
Summer Lowell’s heart sank slowly.
He didn’t seem to be lying; although the online commentary exaggerated Maxim Sinclair’s current plight, if it were too outrageous, surely an industry insider would refute it.
"If it were just that piece of land, I’d let it slide, feeling guilty for the excessive things I’ve done to you before," Maxim Sinclair lifted Summer Lowell’s chin, "but if you cause the Sinclair Group to suffer huge losses, affecting my position as chairman, Summer Lowell, you’d better prepare for a lifetime of being tangled with me."
After finishing, Maxim Sinclair looked at Summer Lowell, whose face was pale as a sheet, sneered coldly, and gently pinched her cheek.
His grip was a bit strong, causing her pale cheeks to become slightly red.
At a glance, it looked as if she had makeup on.
"Keep playing with the cat, pay more attention to the situation out there. I’m telling you in advance, if Justin Huxley manages to secure his position as the Huxley family’s heir, forget about leaving me. I’ll make you attend Justin Huxley’s inauguration banquet as the chairman of Omni Group with me, as my wife."
With this last warning, Maxim Sinclair finally left.
...
Tina Huxley came out of the study, and Mrs. Huxley, waiting at the door, rushed up and asked anxiously, "How is he, still refusing to eat?"
"He said he had to attend an online meeting, so no time to eat," Tina Huxley shook her head, "I left the food on the table inside. He should eat when he’s hungry." 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
"Ah, we never expected we made the mistake of inviting a wolf into our house," Mrs. Huxley pulled Tina Huxley’s hand, "Come on, sit with me for a while downstairs."
Tina Huxley followed her down, unwilling to give up, and continued to ask, "Isn’t there really nothing we can do? Justin Huxley has always been abroad, unfamiliar with the domestic situation. Has the board been bribed by him behind the scenes? Or does he have some leverage over them, why did he gain control so quickly?"
"Both benefits and leverage," Mrs. Huxley sighed, "We are to blame too; to help Justin Huxley establish a foothold in the company early to deal with other family members, we gave him a lot of information about board members, including their hobbies and unspeakable things they’ve done."
"You were too careless, how could you show him these?" Tina Huxley looked disapproving, "It’s bad enough to invite a wolf home, why didn’t you keep some contingency plans, what should we do now!"
"Things have reached this point, complaining is useless. What’s urgent is to think of ways to maintain our shares and the support from the board’s members. It’s important to us; if we lose that support, the chairman position would be hard to secure."
Usually, indulged and never focusing on her career, Tina Huxley was at a loss facing such a situation.
Frustrated, she tore at her hair, finally snarling with determination, "How about this, I’ll find someone to get rid of Justin Huxley. Once he’s gone, we won’t have a rival, and the old board members will obediently return to support us."
"Can you come up with a more reliable plan?" Mrs. Huxley tapped her head angrily, "Justin Huxley is guarded by bodyguards wherever he goes. Even if you want to harm him, how can you get close? Moreover, this is not overseas where you stayed, there are police here."
"Then what should we do, we can’t just sit here and wait for him to take all the Huxley family’s assets, can we? Over the years, we’ve poured our heart and soul into this. Are we to let others reap the benefits?"
