Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever-Chapter 77: Maxim Sinclair Plans a Chance Encounter with Julian Huxley
"Take your time investigating, I’m not in a hurry." Maxim Sinclair draped the towel he wiped his sweat with over the machine, his eyes gazing into the distance, speaking unhurriedly.
Assistant Collins nodded, glanced at Maxim Sinclair’s expression, and speculated about his current mood, speaking softly, "President Sinclair, Matthew’s suggestion is to arrange one or two people to keep an eye on Miss Lowell, so we can get timely updates on her whereabouts."
"No need to specifically have someone watch her," Maxim Sinclair shook his head and explained, "Right now, her most urgent matter is to address the negative impact of losing two S-level projects. Her career ambition is so strong, Justin Huxley doesn’t have enough charm to take precedence over her career."
"Alright, I understand, I will explain clearly to Matthew."
After Assistant Collins finished speaking and was about to turn and leave, Maxim Sinclair called out to him, "Check the schedule for the next three days, is there any event I must attend?"
Hearing this, Assistant Collins quickly picked up the notebook he carried with him, flipped through it hastily, looked up, and answered, "Tomorrow night, there’s a dinner you must attend."
"Have the Vice President attend in my place and prepare a generous gift." Maxim Sinclair instructed indifferently.
Assistant Collins nodded in response, marked the paper with his pen a few times, and then asked, "President Sinclair, are you changing your schedule suddenly for something else?"
"Book me a ticket to Corinium, I’m going there to meet someone."
"Okay, President Sinclair, when are you returning? Two days later, which is this Friday, you have an important meeting. If you can’t return, should you conduct the meeting via video from abroad?"
Maxim Sinclair pressed the stop button on the treadmill, slowly decreased the speed, and grabbed a nearby bottle of water, tilting his head back to drink half of it before saying, "Depends on how smoothly things go. If the meeting goes well, I’ll return early; if not, I’ll return later."
"Alright."
The next evening at the Eldoria airport.
Maxim Sinclair boarded the car waiting outside the airport with another assistant, Ian Langley, and a few bodyguards. The car slowly started towards the predetermined hotel.
Shortly after getting in the car, Ian Langley, sitting in the passenger seat, turned his head towards the backseat where Maxim Sinclair was sitting, saying, "The eldest son of the Huxley Family, Julian Huxley, is still staying at that hotel and hasn’t left. We’ve already sent someone to investigate; he’s expected to stay locally for half a month, likely attending a significant academic forum."
Maxim Sinclair, who hadn’t slept well during the long flight, leaned back in his seat with his eyes slightly closed, dozing, and only spoke after a while, "Stick to the original plan. Have we received the forum invitation?"
"We’ve received it," the assistant showed him the screen of his phone, "This is the electronic version of the invitation, and they said the paper version has been delivered to the hotel room."
"Having the invitation is enough."
Maxim Sinclair gestured to him, indicating not to disturb him further.
At night.
Julian Huxley, who had just finished a get-together with friends at the bar, was standing by the roadside waiting for a car.
Suddenly, a surprised voice came from behind, "Julian? What a coincidence?"
A puzzled Julian Huxley turned around and, upon seeing the speaker, he raised his eyebrows in surprise too, "What are you doing here?"
Maxim Sinclair handed his coat to the assistant behind him, smiled faintly, and pointed to a hotel not far away, "Passing by on a business trip, stopped by for a drink, and unexpectedly ran into you. How long have you been here? Want to go in and have another drink together?"
Already feeling tipsy, Julian Huxley shook his head and declined, "I have an important meeting early tomorrow morning, and it’s already midnight now, not suitable for drinking more. How about this, are you free tomorrow night? I’ll find you after my meeting, and we can drink slowly then."
Maxim Sinclair, who had come abroad specifically for him, didn’t immediately agree but instead turned to ask his assistant, who promptly checked the schedule and nodded to him, "You have a schedule at noon tomorrow, but nothing in the evening."
"Perfect," Maxim Sinclair smiled at Julian Huxley, "Contact me after your meeting tomorrow; we haven’t seen each other in years, it’s a good opportunity to catch up."
"Alright!" Julian Huxley agreed with a cheerful smile, walked over and playfully punched Maxim Sinclair on the shoulder, jokingly saying, "It’s been so long, and you’re still the same, always the center of attention wherever you stand."
After speaking, Julian Huxley teasingly gestured around, "See that? Everyone’s looking at your face!"
Maxim Sinclair raised an eyebrow proudly, then changed the subject, "Which hotel are you staying at now?"
Hearing this, Julian Huxley pointed to a brightly lit logo in the distance, striking against the night sky, "That one. If I’m not mistaken, this hotel’s your family’s asset, right? Are you staying there too?"
"Yes, I’m staying there!"
Maxim Sinclair nodded, pointed to the car that the driver had just brought over, and sincerely invited Julian Huxley, "You didn’t drive here, did you? Why don’t you ride back with me? You look like you’re about to hail a cab."
"That sounds great!" Julian Huxley followed Maxim Sinclair without any hesitation, "I’ve been wondering how to get back to the hotel."
After getting in the car, Julian Huxley turned his head to look at Maxim Sinclair, glanced him up and down, and remarked with a sigh, "Among all of us who knew each other growing up, you’re the most impressive, doubling your family business at a young age!"
"You’re exaggerating," Maxim Sinclair responded politely with a smile, "You’re impressive too, managing the Huxley Family’s overseas businesses very well. At a banquet hosted by Old Master Huxley, which I attended, I heard him singing your praises a lot!"
Talking about Old Master Huxley, Julian Huxley’s smile took on a complex undertone, "Does the old master... still remember me?"
"Listen to what you’re saying," Maxim Sinclair, fully aware of the subtleties, feigned ignorance with a cheerful smile, "Those nearly bankrupt enterprises of the Huxley Family were revived under your management. Without you, the Huxley Family would have lost nearly half of its overseas businesses."
"It seems outsiders see the situation more clearly!" Julian Huxley laughed bitterly, pulling out his phone, "Since we ran into each other, let’s exchange contact information."
With the same intention, Maxim Sinclair quickly took out his phone, "I was just about to say that. By the way, I heard Old Master Huxley’s birthday is in a little over a month, as the eldest grandson, aren’t you returning to the country to celebrate?"
"I’d like to return home, but I’m afraid some people would be so worried they couldn’t eat or sleep once they hear I’m back!" Julian Huxley smirked sarcastically, while simultaneously accepting Maxim Sinclair’s friend request, "Now it’s much easier to keep in touch."
