Contract Marriage: Abusive Love with Mr.CEO-Chapter 485 - 255: I Won’t Let Her Down (Part 1)
"Daddy, hold... hold me..."
Andrew looked up at his father with a childlike face, reaching out his hands.
Howard Geoffrey withdrew his gaze to look at his son, quite unsympathetically, and said coldly, "You can already walk, you need to learn to walk on your own, you can’t always depend on being carried."
Andrew immediately pouted and looked at his grandma with a wronged expression.
Mrs. Geoffrey instantly rebuked Howard, "When you were Andrew’s age, you still wanted me to carry you every day. Don’t impose on your son things you couldn’t even do yourself!"
Three vertical lines appeared on Howard Geoffrey’s handsome face. This is why he never holds any authority in front of Andrew!
Mrs. Geoffrey picked up Andrew and whispered to Howard, "Son, go over and talk, they’re waiting for you..."
Standing not far away, Becca couldn’t make out what they were saying, but her gaze was fixed on them.
Watching Howard walk toward her, her heart pounded fiercely.
Howard approached Becca and asked softly, "Awake?"
Becca lowered her eyelashes, "Hmm."
"About last night..."
"I know, it was your mother’s plan." From the moment Aunt invited her to stay at the hotel and asked her to check his room, it must have all been orchestrated by his mother.
"Roger came by last night, and we drank together."
Becca understood and nodded slightly, her face uncontrollably turning red. It must have taken a lot for Aunt to even "invite" General Leonard.
"Once Marie is okay, we can address what happened last night."
Becca suddenly looked up, "Address?" What does that mean?
Mrs. Geoffrey, who had been eavesdropping, leaned over to Becca and said, "You haven’t figured out what Howard meant? He means once Marie passes that critical twenty-four-hour period, he’ll deal with his situation with Alice Robinson."
Mrs. Geoffrey’s sidetracking was somewhat severe...
Becca looked at Howard, waiting for him to explain his words.
Howard didn’t say much more, his gaze fixated on Becca.
Becca looked into Howard’s deep black eyes, which, although bottomless, held a touch of gentleness.
"Andrew, quickly tell Daddy and Mommy to be together..." Mrs. Geoffrey encouraged the little wimpy kid.
Unfortunately, the wimpy kid could only say "Daddy," unable to fully articulate Mrs. Geoffrey’s words.
At this moment, Howard took Becca’s hand.
Becca’s body tensed for a moment, already being led by him toward the elevator, she asked, "Where are we going?"
Howard tightly grasped Becca’s hand, and while looking at the elevator, he softly said, "The hospital."
Becca asked no more, letting him hold her hand, feeling the warmth of his palm tightly enclosing hers.
As the elevator descended floor by floor, he never let go of her hand...
The emptiness in Becca’s heart was suddenly filled at this moment, as if no words were needed, him holding her hand...
"Sister, how is Marilyn’s condition?"
Standing by the hospital ward’s glass window, Christine Quinn turned around, and upon seeing Becca, smiled slightly, "There have been no signs of rejection for the past several hours, the doctor said the prognosis is very good, basically confirming there won’t be other complications."
Becca let out a big sigh of relief, "I just knew Marilyn would be okay."
Christine felt a sense of relief due to Marilyn Quinn’s alleviated condition and couldn’t help teasing, "You should have been here earlier, why only come now?"
Becca blushed slightly and simply explained, "Overslept."
Christine’s keen eyes had already spotted Howard, evidently who came with Becca but was currently talking with Skyler Jones, and chuckled, "Did both of you oversleep?"
Becca curiously frowned, "Are you in cahoots with Aunt?"
Christine raised her hands in innocence, "I only knew Aunt had plans to get you and Howard together last night, but I wasn’t clear about the specifics..."
Becca was frustrated, "You should have told me last night."
Christine leaned in and mischievously whispered, "I said last night, what a beautiful night you and Howard had..."
Becca’s face turned bright red, "Sister..."
On the other side of the corridor, Skyler’s peripheral vision swept toward the direction where Becca was, and he smiled self-deprecatingly, "You won."
Howard’s gaze was calm as he looked into the distance, lightly saying, "Between you and me, there’s never been winning or losing."
Skyler followed Howard’s gaze into the distant emptiness, "No, it’s not about winning or losing, but wanting to; from the start, I’ve already lost to you."
"Mom’s love for you is no less than for me."
Skyler turned his face to look at Howard earnestly, "I don’t mean mom, you should know what I’m referring to."
Howard’s deep black eyes dimmed, his tone lower than before, "I won’t disappoint her."
Skyler frowned with displeasure, "Then what’s your current situation with Alice Robinson?"
"I don’t need to explain to you." With that, Howard turned and walked away.
As Howard turned to leave, Skyler coldly said, "I don’t care what you’re planning now, but if you let Becca down, I won’t let you off easily!!"
Howard paused his steps, a smile appearing on his handsome face, "Are you now giving your blessing to me and her?"
Skyler, at that moment, had already walked in the opposite direction, away from Howard.
"Hmm, that’s good. I’ve already taken leave from Manager Smith, she permitted me to stay a few more days in Y City... Don’t worry, I promised to bring you a gift, I certainly won’t forget..."
Becca was on the phone when she saw Howard walking towards her, and she hurriedly told the person on the other end, "Let’s leave it for when we’re back in T City."
Becca had just put her phone back in her bag when Howard arrived in front of her.
This current relationship made Becca feel a bit awkward when facing Howard, "Uh..." She started but didn’t know what to say.
"Who were you talking to on the phone?"
Fortunately, Howard casually asked.
Becca answered honestly, "Doctor Robinson."
Howard frowned slightly, "You have a good relationship with him?"
Becca instinctively nodded, "Hmm..."
Realizing her answer could easily be misunderstood, she quickly corrected, "No, I mean, we’re friends."
Howard didn’t continue the topic but informed her of his plans, "I have something to do this afternoon."
"Uh, I also want to stay at the hospital with my sister this afternoon."
Howard lightly nodded and left.
Watching Howard’s departing figure, Becca’s gaze turned dark.
Christine returned to Becca’s side just as Howard left, chuckling, "What, you can’t bear to part from him even for a second?"
