Chapter 762: Chapter 395: Extra Story: Daughter’s Birthday 2

"Mm."

Christine Quinn turned around and walked to the noisy ticket counter, waiting in a long line to buy tickets.

There were indeed many people buying tickets, and due to the crowd, she occasionally bumped into the people in front and behind her. Fortunately, just as she was frustrated about when she would be able to buy a ticket, Skyler Jones pulled her out of the line.

He suddenly took her hand, leaving her a little flustered, but he calmly led her toward the ticket window. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖

The crowd was large and jostling at times, yet his body always shielded her.

Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed Marie standing nearby, looking expectant. She knew it was all an act, but she couldn’t help feeling a ripple in her heart at his protective gesture.

Skyler Jones spoke only a few words to the staff outside the ticket window, and then he had several tickets in his hand.

In her daze, Christine Quinn didn’t know how Skyler got the tickets, but she saw him give the staff quite a bit of money.

It seems being rich really makes things easier.

When Skyler handed the tickets to Marie, she jumped around happily and gave him a kiss on the cheek, praising loudly, "Daddy, you’re the best! You got so many tickets all at once..."

While Marie praised Skyler, Christine was silently criticizing in her heart. What’s so great about it? It’s just because he has money. If he didn’t have money, he would still have to queue up like everyone else!

"Daddy, I want to go on the pirate ship first. Who’s going with me?"

As soon as Marie said this, Christine immediately responded, "Mommy gets dizzy easily, so let daddy go with you."

"Daddy, will you go with me?"

What? Skyler was taken aback, asking him to go on the pirate ship? If people knew, his years of stern dignity in the business world might be gone.

Skyler frowned, "No way!"

"Daddy, mommy, you both promised me you’d agree to everything today. This is my first request, and you’re already saying no!"

"This..."

"I really get dizzy. Skyler, please go with Marie!" Her heart condition meant she really couldn’t handle these thrilling rides.

In the end, Skyler, with no other choice, was pulled by Marie towards the pirate ship.

Although there were plenty of parents accompanying their kids on the pirate ship to share in the thrill, Skyler’s aura and demeanor seemed completely out of place with such an amusement ride. However, for Marie’s sake, he couldn’t refuse.

Christine stood below the pirate ship, watching Skyler aboard looking awkward and uncomfortable. She couldn’t help but feel a bit smug and amused.

"Did you have fun, Marie?"

Skyler held Marie as they came down from the pirate ship, while Christine helped wipe the sweat from their daughter and asked.

Marie nodded vigorously, eager to find her next adventure, the carousel.

The carousel was naturally a ride for children, and Christine and Skyler finally breathed a sigh of relief.

As they watched Marie enjoying herself on the spinning carousel, Christine felt gratified yet also a bit guilty in her heart.

Her daughter had long been unable to visit places like this due to her heart problems. If she could have given her child a healthy body, her child wouldn’t have missed out on so much joy.

Snapping back to reality, she saw Skyler taking a business call.

His expression grew colder, his gaze sharpening back to his usual business acumen.

"Project paused, everything waits until I get back..."

Christine only caught this part of the conversation.

Skyler put away his phone, his gaze behind the sunglasses returning to Marie.

Sensitively catching the words "project paused," Christine curiously asked him, "What’s wrong? Is there a problem with the project?"

Skyler simply replied, "Nothing important."

Just as Christine was about to say something, Marie came running off the carousel into her father’s arms.

"Daddy, mommy, I want some water."

"Mommy will buy you some."

"Okay, okay."

Water was easy to buy. Christine got three bottles and handed one to Skyler.

Skyler didn’t take it, only saying, "No need."

Seeing Skyler’s distant attitude, Christine felt somewhat annoyed. She hadn’t intended to buy it for him; she just had to play her part.

But just as Christine was about to put the water away, Skyler took the bottle she had just opened and taken a sip from, and drank from it himself.

Christine’s mouth parted slightly in surprise.

To Marie, this seemed perfectly normal.
