Contract Marriage: Let's Make It Real, Mrs. Sterling!-Chapter 285 - 284: Replying to Netizens
Celine relaxed after hearing Mia’s explanations.
People go through rebellious phases, which is totally normal. Bad grades aren’t a big deal, and owning a bar isn’t a problem at all.
"Is there nothing else?" Celine asked again, still a bit uneasy.
Mia shook her head. None of those things were big issues; the biggest secret was her agreement marriage with Jensen Sterling.
Compared to that, none of these other things matter?
After listening to Mia, Celine nodded slightly with her eyes downcast and phone in hand: "Alright, since there’s nothing else, I’ll have the company prepare a PR response."
With that, she was about to make a call.
Mia stopped her: "No need, Ms. Thorne, no need for PR. I’ll do a live stream to explain when I get home tonight; I’ll address anything else after my exams."
Celine thought for a moment, nodded in agreement, thinking it would make more sense to wait. Once her results were out, they’d have more credibility, and the rumors would naturally die down.
"Alright, but I’ll make sure the buzz around these issues is suppressed."
This time Mia didn’t argue, she just nodded: "Okay."
Although the previous issues with her grades were exposed, in the entertainment world, these are minor issues compared to others. It might spark some debate, but it won’t generate that much heat.
Regarding the subsequent revelations and baseless accusations, if no one were fanning the flames behind the scenes, she wouldn’t believe it.
"Alright, if there’s nothing else, you should head back now. There’s not much going on this period. Just take a break, focus on your studies, prepare for your exams. Don’t worry about the rest, I’ll handle it."
....
Mia left the company, took a car heading back home, and saw a message from Jensen Sterling stating he’d be back tomorrow.
Jensen Sterling wasn’t in town recently due to a fashion magazine shoot.
Mia looked down as she tapped her fair fingers on the screen a few times, replying that she knew.
After sending the message, a voice clip from Celine popped up on WeChat.
Mia opened it casually, Celine’s voice piped through the phone into her ear: "Oh, I forgot to tell you, don’t log into Weibo or reply to any comments from users there."
After hearing the voice message, Mia blinked slowly: "..."
Too late, because she...had already posted.
Back in the office, Celine had just realized this, so she sent the message to Mia.
Though Mia probably wouldn’t respond to online comments, Celine thought her artist was still obedient and wouldn’t do so.
Just as she was thinking this, she saw the message from Mia on her phone, her fingers gripped the phone tightly. As the screen dimmed, Celine, disbelieving, opened it again to confirm she hadn’t read it wrong.
Nearly choking back a breath.
Then quickly, she opened Weibo to take a look, deciding not to hold her breath this time.
Mia was now topping the trending list with a hot search entry.
#MiaRepliesToNetizens#
Clicking into it.
Mia’s reply to a netizen was highlighted at the top.
Netizen: [Right, with such trash scores, if she genuinely passed the exams, I’ll live stream myself eating shit.]
Mia’s reply: [I’ll dig out my exam scores later. Oh right, don’t forget to share the live stream link with me, I’ll join and support you.]
The comment section turned into a pandemonium, quite the commotion.
People outside the office heard a voice from inside calling out "Mia" in a tone as if someone was about to faint from frustration.
Soon following was a series of voices in the office discussing Mia.
The crowd: "..." Seeing Ms. Thorne, usually so composed, get like this, go Mia!
...
Celine massaged her temples, now pounding relentlessly, feeling utterly drained.
She seriously suspected Mia’s previous obedient façade was just an illusion, she was a ticking time bomb waiting to explode. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
....
Online, Mia’s reply was abuzz with discussion, everyone was talking about whether Mia would release her exam scores.
Opinions varied; some said if Mia dared reply, she would definitely post the scores, otherwise, she’d be embarrassed beyond measure.
Others doubted Mia’s university scores would be bad, so how good could her exam scores be, suggesting she posted the comment to gain some attention.
Mia, back home, after walking in felt tired and collapsed onto the sofa to rest. Then the phone beside her on the sofa rang.
Mia reached over, checked the caller ID, then answered.
"Hello, Principal."
On the other line was Aethelgard’s principal. Since Mia last joined him for chess, they’d swapped contacts. Occasionally, the principal sent papers and materials to Mia, and she would share things from the younger generation.
Gradually, they became familiar, and the principal grew fond of Mia as a junior.
So, upon hearing about the online issues, he called her.
Generally speaking, the principal wasn’t engrossed in entertainment industry matters, but this involved Aethelgard, so it reached his ears.
Principal: "Mia, I’ve heard about the online situation, this old man wonders if you need assistance in explaining, though I’m old, my words still carry weight."
Mia held the phone, her eyes curling into crescents as she listened to the principal.
Although her acquaintance with the principal wasn’t long, he genuinely cherished her as a beloved junior.
Mia: "No need, sir. Once my exam results are published, these claims will naturally fall apart."
Because Mia knew those trolls well; even if the school stepped out to clarify, they’d twist things.
They might say the school made a deal with her due to its reputation.
Such antics were entirely possible.
Knowing the outcome would eventually come, Mia opted not to involve Aethelgard and the principal.
Mia finally talked him out of it, then hung up with: "Sir, if I ever need help, I’ll definitely let you know."
