Contract Marriage: Let's Make It Real, Mrs. Sterling!-Chapter 324 - 323: Mr. Xi, Let Me Take You Home for the New Year
In the evening, Mia Sutton sat to the side, eating fruit while watching TV, occasionally feeding Jensen Sterling a couple of grapes.
Quite at ease, Mia watched TV for a while, then glanced sideways at Jensen, her eyes fluttering, and said, "Mr. Sterling, there are still some things I haven’t bought. I want to go out and buy them today."
Jensen held Mia’s hand, pinching it twice between the thumb and forefinger, then said, "No need, I’ll have Cameron Grant bring them over."
Mia initially wanted to go out and buy them herself, but since both she and Mr. Sterling were public figures, going out and being recognized would be quite troublesome.
Mia sighed softly in her heart, "Alright then."
"So when are we going to visit Auntie?"
Mia didn’t mention returning to the Sterling Family, only saying to visit Auntie. Although she wasn’t too sure about Mr. Sterling’s relationship with the Sterling Family, she could sense he didn’t like them, so she wisely didn’t bring it up.
Jensen put down what he was holding, thought for a moment, and then said lightly, "In a few days, Mom prefers peace and quiet."
Mia nodded, "Oh, alright."
After the brief conversation, Mia lost interest in watching TV, lazily cuddling into the sofa, picking up her phone to look at something else.
As soon as she opened it, she saw a message from Giselle Summers. Mia had her saved as Auntie Summer. The young lady lowered her eyes and gazed at the screen, her lips pressed into a thin line.
[Auntie Summer: Mia, I have to go abroad for a while, so I won’t be there to see you during the New Year. Please let Jensen know.]
[I’ve prepared New Year gifts for you, and someone will deliver them to you. Happy New Year.]
Lately, Mia had been in contact with Jensen’s mother; Giselle Summers would occasionally send WeChat messages asking about Jensen’s recent situation.
After reading these two messages, Mia looked up at the person next to her, ready to speak, but saw him tapping away at a message on his phone.
Because they were sitting so close, it was easy for her to catch a glimpse of the screen with a slight downward glance.
Jensen: "Do we still have any tea leaves left from this year?"
The reply on the other side came quickly: "Yes, Jensen, but not much. Someone offered a high price for them recently, but I didn’t sell because I wanted to keep them for my grandfather at home. What’s up?"
Jensen: "Save some for me."
The other person: "Okay, are you saving it for Auntie Summer? Everyone knows she loves tea, and she buys exquisite tea leaves every year."
Jensen’s expression didn’t change as he slowly typed a "Yes" and sent it over.
The other person: "I figured as much. You don’t like tea, but Auntie does. By the way, are you giving it to her for New Year? I’ll have someone wrap it festively for you."
Seeing up to this point, Mia stopped watching and gently lowered her gaze, hiding the emotions in her eyes.
She rubbed her already darkened phone screen with a finger.
Then she spoke, her tone somewhat muffled, "Mr. Sterling..."
Upon hearing her voice, Jensen shifted his gaze from the phone, looked at her, and softly asked, "What’s wrong?"
Mia pressed her lips together, hesitated for a few moments, and then said, "Auntie just messaged me that she won’t be in the country for a while, so we don’t need to visit during the New Year."
Upon hearing that, Jensen’s fingers, which were holding the phone, paused momentarily before replying, "Okay, got it."
Mia looked at the person beside her, feeling a slight heartache for him without knowing why.
Although Jensen never showed much emotion towards Giselle Summers, Mia felt she held a special place in his heart. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have gone through the trouble of preparing her favorite tea leaves every year.
Jensen wouldn’t expend any effort on things he didn’t care about.
Seeing the subtle expression on the person beside her, Mia felt a bit distressed and stifled in her heart.
A few seconds later, she propped herself up on the sofa, leaned over, and gave Jensen a gentle peck on the corner of his lips.
When Jensen turned his head, he saw the young lady smiling at him, and she said brightly, "Well, in that case, Mr. Sterling, how about coming to my house for New Year this year?"
Mia’s voice fell into Jensen’s ears, and he paused for a moment. The young lady continued, "There aren’t many of us at home. Just our few family members. If we go back, they’d definitely be very happy."
"Let me think, what should we bring when we go back?"
Jensen listened to her speaking and then chuckled softly, "Alright."
Mia was talking and thinking about how to console Mr. Sterling, so when she heard Jensen agree, she was slightly dazed, not immediately reacting.
Jensen pulled her closer and said, "You bring me home for New Year."
Mia nodded vigorously, "Uh-huh."
And she thought to herself that in the future, during New Year, she would take Mr. Sterling home with her. It didn’t matter if the Sterling Family didn’t care about him; he still had her.
Jensen looked at the clumsy yet comforting young lady, the corners of his lips slightly curling up. Honestly, it didn’t matter to him anymore. He had spent so many years like this, celebrating the New Year alone so many times that he had grown used to it.
To him, New Year was just two ordinary words, no different from any other day.
This year, it was probably because of the person beside him, who had been cheerfully preparing things every day, that he began to get a sense of the New Year.
Mia decided to act immediately, getting off the sofa and running back to her room to grab things.
If she were going back alone, she wouldn’t need to bring anything, but since she was bringing Mr. Sterling with her, she certainly had to prepare some things.
She even called her parents in advance.
On New Year’s Eve morning, Mia, rarely skipping her sleep-in, got up early. Once awake, she started tidying up, running back and forth between her room and the rest of the house like a busy bee.
When Jensen stood nearby, Mia even complained that he was in her way, leaving him speechless: "..."
As Mia passed by Jensen once again, he sighed lightly, reached out, and pulled her into his embrace.
Mia felt her feet leave the ground, looking at him quizzically, "Mr. Sterling, what’s up?"
Jensen smiled helplessly, "We’re just going for the New Year, not moving house."
Mia: "..."
Oh, right, and then she glanced at the pile of things on the floor, realizing it was a bit much, "Then I’ll go put some of these down." She made a move to get out of Jensen’s arms. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
Jensen: "No need, just these things, let’s tidy up and head out, okay?"
....
In the end, Mia and Jensen brought all those things with them.
When Cameron Grant came over to pick them up, his eyes widened, his lips twitching at the sheer amount of stuff.
Just the gift boxes numbered seven or eight, not to mention everything else.
Cameron looked at their hands full of items, recalling the pile in the car’s trunk.
Someone who knew might think it was the son-in-law visiting for New Year; someone who didn’t might think they were sellers.
Helplessly, he accepted the items from their hands, "Alright, Miss Sutton, Jensen, hop in the car, please."
