Contract Marriage: Let's Make It Real, Mrs. Sterling!-Chapter 326 - 325: Writing Couplets
Jensen Sterling was writing couplets while Simon Sutton stood beside him watching, then he nodded slightly.
Mia Sutton and Ashley Vance went over to see that Jensen had already written half of the couplets, placed side by side with the ones Simon had written earlier, with the ink on them still wet. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
The two sets of couplets placed together were entirely different styles. Simon’s writing felt more restrained, while Jensen’s strokes were sharper.
But regardless of the style, both writers had strong skills.
Simon, seeing Ashley approach, moved to her side, standing on one side of the table, and said, "Julian’s handwriting is really impressive."
Ashley glanced up at him and said, "Mia just said you were exploiting labor here."
Upon hearing this, Mia immediately widened her eyes in disbelief, looking at her dear mother, her mouth opened a bit: "Mom, you sold me out."
Jensen, who was writing couplets, lowered his eyes, a faint smile in them.
His Mia... how could she be so lovable?
He knew very well that Simon asking him to write couplets was just to avoid awkwardness, and now with Mia’s playful banter, the atmosphere in the room became a lot more relaxed.
Actually, no matter what the atmosphere was like, it didn’t affect him much. The Sterling Family was so oppressive that he was already used to it; even if Simon and Ashley made things difficult for him, it was understandable.
After all, he had taken their daughter away.
But now... this atmosphere wasn’t bad either.
Simon looked up at Holly Sutton and said, "Go to my study and bring another brush out to let Julian help me write here."
Ashley nodded and said, "Yes, it’ll be faster with two people writing together."
Holly responded and then went upstairs to get the brush.
...
The speed was indeed much faster with the two of them writing; they wrote not only couplets but also a lot of the word "Fu," which could be pasted on the door later.
When they finished, it was still early, just past ten o’clock. Ashley was still in the kitchen preparing meals, and by the time Simon and Jensen finished writing, the ink on the later couplets hadn’t dried, but the ones before had.
Holly, Mia, and Jensen all went to paste the couplets.
Of course, Mia went with Jensen, eagerly volunteering to paste the couplets outside the villa, grabbing a stool and running out while pulling Jensen along.
Holly had just finished grabbing the couplets, ready to ask Mia to step back to check the placement, but when he turned his head, he found his sister had already taken Jensen outside.
Holly: "..." He laughed in exasperation and said to their father, who was drinking tea on the side, "Look at your daughter; she’s the typical example of getting a husband and forgetting her brother."
In past New Year celebrations, it was always the two of them doing things like pasting couplets together. Now, things had changed; his younger sister was married, and he hadn’t even caught up yet.
Holly let out a deep sigh, then heard their father say, "Alright, I’ll watch for you, hurry and paste, finish early so we can eat sooner."
....
Having abandoned her own brother, Mia went outside and put the stool aside, running a few steps back herself: "Mr. Sterling, you paste, I’ll guide you."
Jensen watched the young girl looking so happy, also smiled slowly, and said, "Alright."
Then, holding the couplets, he stepped onto the stool.
Standing a few steps away, Mia’s voice was full of excitement: "Mr. Sterling, it’s tilted, move a bit to the left... wait, wait, a little to the right, up, up, up."
She directed while moving her hands.
Jensen held the couplets, not feeling annoyed; wherever Mia said to move, he’d move. He didn’t just not feel bothered; he felt a strong sense of solidity, a warm sensation, a perpetual gentle curve at his lips.
The two of them fiddled for a long time and finally pasted the couplets well.
When Mia came out, she wasn’t wearing a coat, only a white knitted hat on her head, her little face slightly red from the cold, and when she spoke, the warm breath hitting the cold air turned into white mist.
Seeing Jensen step down from the stool, Mia waved to him, and Jensen walked over to her.
"Look, Mr. Sterling, you wrote this, besides my dad, this is the only couplet outside that you’ve written."
"One of a kind." she said with bright eyes.
Maybe it was too cold outside, Mia said as she lifted her hands to blow warm air on them, then rubbed them together.
Jensen saw this, his gaze cooled down for a moment, then he reached out and enveloped her hands: "It’s so cold, why aren’t you wearing a coat?" a slight tone of reproach in his voice.
Upon hearing this, Mia looked at him, then playfully stuck out her tongue and cooed, "I forgot, Mr. Sterling, isn’t there you to warm me up?"
Jensen sighed at her words, enveloping the young girl’s hands completely: "Come on, let’s go inside."
