Contract Marriage: The Tycoon's Pampered Wife-Chapter 95 - 0: (1 update)
Chapter 95: 095: (1 update)
Ning Guiwan vanished behind the door like a wisp of smoke.
Quan Yu chuckled to himself but wasn’t in a rush. He stood a while longer on the top deck, assaulted by the sea breeze.
The mysterious red moon hung overhead, casting a faint red glow. To the man, the moon over the sea seemed much larger than it did over land. The dim red light reflected in the depths of his eyes, adding an enigmatic touch to his indifferent, glass-like pupils.
He’d lived for thirty-two years and, indeed, had never lowered himself like this for any girl.
He wanted to confine her to his side, yet selfishly wished she would comply willingly... But she was no ordinary girl. She had experienced things many others might not in their entire lives, with locks around her heart and armor plating her body.
Quan Yu took a cigarette case out of his trouser pocket and pulled out a cigarette, but didn’t light it. He slowly kneaded it in his hand, golden tobacco sprinkling onto the deck and his leather shoes. No need to rush, he thought. There’s plenty of time.
He stuffed the remaining half of the cigarette into the outer pocket of his overcoat and turned to walk in the direction Ning Guiwan had left.
He thought the young girl would have run away by now.
It was only upon entering that he noticed Ning Guiwan standing by the stair railing, an odd expression on her face.
Quan Yu hadn’t let the bodyguards follow when he came up, so it was just the two of them. His steps paused slightly, then he moved towards her, his feet silent on the carpet.
As Ning Guiwan saw him approaching, her complexion became increasingly unnatural.
When he came close, Quan Yu, aided by the lamplight, noticed her cheeks were flushed red.
He wanted to ask her what she was doing standing there, but before he could speak, Ning Guiwan hastily covered his mouth, gesturing for him to be silent with a finger over her lips.
Quan Yu was perplexed but cooperated.
At that moment, a woman’s coquettish complaint came from below the stairs, "President Han, don’t do this, someone might see us..."
"Don’t worry, there’s no one upstairs at this time, and no one will come up."
"Can we go back to the room, please? I’m scared..."
"What’s there to be afraid of? The secretary is watching the path downstairs. No one will find out."
Ning Guiwan recognized the voice as Zhang Ziyan’s.
She had just run over, preparing to go downstairs, when she saw Zhang Ziyan and an older middle-aged man clinging to each other as they came up from below. The two were probably too engrossed and didn’t notice her.
Ning Guiwan was about to return to the deck to avoid them when Quan Yu arrived.
The commotion from below grew louder, and Ning Guiwan couldn’t stay put any longer. She looked up, motioning with her eyes for Quan Yu to go outside.
Quan Yu didn’t move, his gaze deep as he looked at her.
Ning Guiwan pursed her lips and turned to walk outside.
Quan Yu followed her out.
Ning Guiwan put on her hood, her hands tucked into her coat pockets, leaning on the railing and gazing out at the sea in the deep of night.
Quan Yu’s tall figure leaned against a column not far from her. He lit a cigarette, smoking emotionlessly. The wind was strong, dispersing the curling smoke, but it couldn’t dispel the restlessness in his heart.
Aside from the wind, there was silence. Ning Guiwan silently counted the passing moments. Gradually, her thoughts drifted to Zhang Ziyan.
After returning to the country, she had only seen Zhang Ziyan twice; including just now, it was three times.
The once introverted and shy girl, whose cheeks would turn red when answering questions in class, had become so sexy and outgoing, leaving no trace of her past self. She did not know how much time had passed.
"Let’s go down," Quan Yu’s voice came through the wind, resolute and clear.
Ning Guiwan turned around. In the dim light, the wind blew her hair across her face. Her eyes looked as if they were painted, her red lips vivid. Against the backdrop of the deep sea and night sky, her red dress fluttered. She was stunningly beautiful, almost unreal as a painting.
It was an inconceivable beauty, one that Quan Yu wouldn’t have believed existed in a girl unless he had seen it with his own eyes.
She didn’t need to do anything; just standing there was enough to stir ripples through still waters.
Ning Guiwan wanted to ask, "Are you sure they’re gone?" but felt it would be odd to ask such a thing. She pursed her lips and said nothing, deliberately lagging a few steps behind, letting Quan Yu lead the way.
Passing by where Quan Yu had stood earlier, Ning Guiwan noticed several cigarette butts scattered on the deck. It didn’t feel like much time had passed, yet he had smoked so many cigarettes.
Looking up, she saw Quan Yu walking and lighting another cigarette...
The two of them returned to the first-class cabin without any obstructions.
Quan Yu, holding a freshly lit cigarette between his distinctly knuckled fingers, escorted Ning Guiwan to her room door. His voice was a bit hoarse as he spoke, "Go back and sleep early. Tomorrow morning, the ship will dock at Osaka Pier and stay for a day. I’m leaving Zhan Yan with you; take him if you go ashore to explore."
"No need." Ning Guiwan had taken off her thick coat and hung it over her arm. Her face was slightly red from the sea breeze, as if brushed with rouge, making her look even more dazzlingly beautiful. Her red lips curled into a light smile. "We might not even get off the ship."
Quan Yu looked at her, his fingers casually flicking ash into the floor-standing ashtray, his gaze profound. "I have something to do and must leave tomorrow. Listen to me. Let him follow you, so I don’t have to worry." ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom
「...」
When Lai Yang returned to the room, Ning Guiwan had already taken a shower and was sitting up in bed, reading a book.
All the lights were off, except for a single hanging lamp beside the bed, its elongated oval lampshade casting a warm yellow glow.
Lai Yang was wearing the backless evening gown she had bought before boarding the ship. It had looked beautiful when she tried it on, but now... The front was stained with wine, her hair was in disarray, the diamond tiara sat askew, and her left hand was bandaged. She was a picture of discomfiture.
Seeing Lai Yang like this, Ning Guiwan was taken aback. She closed her book, got out of bed, and turned on the light. "Did something happen?"
"Don’t even mention it. I ran into a couple of lunatics," Lai Yang kicked off her high heels and sat down on the bed’s edge. "I had a scrap with them and cut my hand on some glass."
Ning Guiwan frowned slightly, looking at the blood seeping through the bandage on Lai Yang’s hand.
"Don’t make that face. It’s been treated; it’s not serious," Lai Yang said, wrapping her arm around Ning Guiwan’s and moving closer. "Those two lunatics didn’t get off easy either. I scratched their faces up, and they even had to apologize to me in the end. All in all, I didn’t lose out."
Ning Guiwan looked at her with a helpless expression. "Try not to be so impulsive in the future."
"Who do they think they are, badmouthing you? I’ve figured it out; they definitely know Chen Rongyue," Lai Yang spoke frankly. "Luckily, they’ll have to get off the ship when we dock tomorrow. My second cousin knows someone in the cruise company. One phone call, and they were facing serious consequences; they had no choice but to apologize to me."
Ning Guiwan listened silently.
"You should’ve seen their faces..." Lai Yang tilted her pretty face up, looking rather pleased. "My second cousin said they didn’t have to apologize to me, but they had to get off the ship immediately. And right now, we’re on the high seas! Those two, their faces went from white to green—it was so satisfying."
"You know we’re on the high seas?" Ning Guiwan brushed her hair back from her ear. Her fingers were well-proportioned, slender, fair, and clean—quite beautiful. "Getting off the ship at this time could be deadly. He was just trying to scare them."
"Alright, it’s late. Go wash up and sleep," Ning Guiwan urged.
Lai Yang still wanted to say more, but Ning Guiwan pushed her gently to her feet.
What she actually wanted to say was that her second cousin’s expression had been so cold then, it had scared even her. She felt that if those girls hadn’t apologized, her second cousin really might have thrown them into the sea.
