Crown Of Hearts-Chapter 74: A tattoo of my mate
Chapter 74: A tattoo of my mate
The tattoo parlor they were going to was on top of a hill and the ten minute flight to get there might have taken thirty minutes if they had walked.
The artist was a young female dragon who was polite and offered Eamon a friendly smile when they walked in.
"She is a half breed. Her father is human." Valerion explained when he noticed his mate was still in awe at being treated so nicely by a dragon he had just met.

Eamon noticed her skin tone was slightly paler than most dragons that had deep olive tanned or brozened skin tones.
Hers had a light olive tan.
Eros had told him it was the fastest way to spot a halfbreed.
They were quite rare and they were also not really liked by both humans and dragons since they didn’t fully belong on one of the two sides.
Eamon felt something akin to pity as he looked at the young artist. He hoped she wasn’t lonely.
"What should I help you with today?" She asked as her eyes darted between them.
"I would like to get a tattoo of my mate." Valerion replied as he briefly gazed at Eamon.
"Anything specific in mind?" She asked.
"His face, right here." Valerion smiled at his mate as he pointed at the similar spot on his neck where Eamon carried him mark.
"Alright then, follow me." She smiled as she led them into a much smaller room at the back that was filled with various art supplies.
Valerion sat down, his hand holding Eamon’s as the artist started her work, carefully working her way around Valerion’s neck with a small needle-like tool as her eyes occasionally darted to Eamon’s face for reference.
They sat in silence for over forty minutes until the artist exhaled softly in satisfaction as she placed her tools down.
"It is done but you should wait for about ten minutes until the ink dries completely." She informed them and Eamon thanked her as he shifted so that he could see the tattoo.
It was a work of art and he loved how she had captured the mischievous yet gentle look in his eyes as he gazed at Valerion throughout the entire session.
"How does it look?" Valerion who was still seated in one spot asked and the artist passed Eamon a mirror which he angled so that his mate could see the tattoo.
"That’s your exact face." Valerion smiled before he thanked the artist for an excellent job.
They left for the royal house after Valerion had paid the artist generously.
....
"Any progress on finding the red dragon?" Valerion asked Ezekiel once he had left his mate with Eros and Tia.
"No, nothing yet." Ezekiel demeanor was calm and patient. Valerion was constantly impressed with how his cousin effortlessly managed to keep so composed.
"I have a feeling we are close so don’t lose hope just yet." Ezekiel smiled faintly and Valerion gave up on understanding how his cousin’s brain worked.
"I am leaving with Eamon today. We are going to visit a friend of his in the neighboring human kingdom and I just wanted to let you know. It could be weeks before I return." Valerion informed him and Ezekiel patted his shoulder in a friendly gesture.
"You can go, I have everything under control." Ezekiel assured and Valerion had no trouble believing him.
"I can see you finally marked your mate." Ezekiel smirked and the tips of Valerion’s ears burned as he looked at Eamon who was seated at a distance, chatting with his friends.
"Yes." Valerion answered briefly and Ezekiel patted his back hard in a congratulatory gesture that had Valerion coughing softly shortly afterwards.
"Why do I feel like you just used that as an excuse to hit me?" Valerion asked and Ezekiel blinked innocently, smirking inwardly as he distanced himself from Valerion.
"I don’t know what you are talking about." His cousin calmly denied the accusations but Valerion knew the man very well. They had grown up together after all.
"Then, why are you running away?" Valerion asked and Ezekiel grinned playfully as he continued to distance himself from Valerion.
"Who’s running?" Ezekiel chuckled and Valerion laughed as he prepared himself to generously return the slaps Ezekiel had just given him.
Ezekiel started to run when Valerion walked towards him.
"Get back here, Ezekiel." Valerion called out as he ran after his cousin.
"Surely you don’t plan on hitting the king." Ezekiel reasoned as he continued to run down the corridor with Valerion hot on his heels.
"You are not the king right now, you are my cousin so stop running Ezekiel." Valerion smiled, feeling childish for wanting his revenge.
He felt so happy once he had caught his cousin and he tried not to grin as he watched Ezekiel coughing and trying to stabilize his breath after running and receiving his gift from Valerion.
"That was fun." Ezekiel admitted once he had composed himself.
"Yeah." Valerion agreed.
"Alright, let’s get back to business." Ezekiel said and Valerion nodded in acceptance.
.....
"I can see Valerion finally gave you his mark." Eros drawled as he looked at the dragon tattoo on Eamon’s neck.
"It looks nice." Tia admitted as her eyes sparkled with mischievous and Eamon knew the question that was going to follow before she even asked.
"Don’t..." Eamon’s voice held a warning as his face turned lobster red, not wishing to talk about the fact that they had consummated their union.
"So you two had sex." Eros shamelessly noted and Eamon’s cheeks burned.
There was no way he was getting out of this one.
"Yes." He admitted and his friends grinned.
"How was it? Was it nice?" Tia wriggled her eyebrows teasingly.
"Yes, it was... nice. Now let’s stop talking about my love life, okay?" Eamon was totally flustered and his friends let him off the hook.
"Eamon, I think Eros has found himself a passionate lover. He has a hickey." Tia’s eyes were sharp and observant as they looked at the red mark on Eros’ neck.
The dragon had done a poor job of covering it up with his black hair.
