Chapter 82: Chapter 82: Who gets to Decide?

Li Jain woke up early the next morning and began to get busy for the day. He has a lot to do today, including going to the bank to open an account, take the banknotes to the various schools and retrieve the school’s materials as required.

But first, he has to make breakfast and the dishes for his tavern.

"Good morning, Father."

"Good morning, Dad."

Good morning, Daddy."

The children came out one after the other and greeted Li Jain, looking much more cheerful than yesterday.

"Good morning, Sweeties. It’s the same schedule as usual. Do your morning exercise, wash up, and come for breakfast."

"What are we eating today?" Jingxuan ran around his father excitedly.

"What are you talking about? Today is my turn to pick the breakfast manual." Jingsheng said coldly.

Jingxuan stopped in his tracks as if he was struck by lightning: "You, decide what we should eat for breakfast? Since when has that started?"

Li Jingsheng glanced sideways at Li Zhang as if to say; you tell him.

Li Zhang cleared his throat guiltily: "It was decided at the siblings meeting last night, while you were asleep."

Li Yujain grabbed the broom to sweep while Li Cheng took the bucket to fill the water barrels. Without a word, they had a static agreement to not be a part of the ongoing conversation.

"Go on," Li Jingxuan urged Li Zhang.

"Well, you see..." Li Zhang thought for a moment and pointed at Yuhan: "Yuhan was there too. He was the one who came up with a dumb game that we ended up losing, which gives Shengsheng the privilege to decide today’s meal."

"You mean not only breakfast, but also lunch and dinner?!" Jingxuan had tears in his eyes threatening to fall at any moment: "Bro Han, how could you?"

"Xuan, don’t listen to Zhang’s nonsense." Li Yuhan sneered: "You said it’s my fault things turned out this way? If it wasn’t for your ridiculous idea, we wouldn’t have been in this predicament."

"What exactly happened?" Juanxin asked, holding Fluffy in his hands.

Li Yuhan and Li Zhang argue back and forth for a long while before finally narrating the entire story.

It went like this:

Last night, they held a sibling meeting in Yujian and Yuhan’s room last night to strategize the fastest way to get Fan Ruyin, the "evil woman," to leave their home. After a thorough discussion, the best solution they agreed upon was for Juanxin to sleep with their father, which would prevent Fan Ruyin from approaching him.

They all put together things that Juanxin likes and promise him those benefits. After Juanxin was sent off, Jingxuan said he was sleepy and went back to his room. While having random conversations, one thing led to another, and the school topic came up.

Li Zhang thought it would be better if they could choose their own school lunches. Li Cheng disagreed, arguing it would be too much work for their father, who already cooked for the restaurant and their regular meals, if they add additional requirements. The others agreed, but Li Zhang came up with another idea: if each of them took turns choosing the daily family meals, everyone would eventually get to eat their favorite food.

Li Jingsheng rejected the idea immediately, but Yuhan shut him off, saying he was too young to be part of the conversation. He should wait for his older brothers to do the decision making. Yuhan then added to Zhang’s idea, proposing that they should play a game every day, and the winner would choose which meal they would have.

Yujian, who was listening in on their conversation, told them through sound transmission that it was a dumb idea. However, Li Zhang and Yuhan were too excited, so they agreed to play a game. Jingsheng, who absolutely doesn’t want to eat sweets for breakfast, lunch and dinner, tried his best and won the game.

"That’s what happened," Li Yuhan said after explaining.

"That’s not fair, you should’ve woken me up. I could’ve won the game for us." Jingxuan shook his head helplessly, regretting that he went to bed early: "Now look, we’re going to eat vegetables all day, today."

"Yea, you’re right." The two sigh

As expected, Li Jingsheng was talking to their dad.

"Dad, we’ll like to eat your vegetable dishes for today." Jingsheng said with a smile, he couldn’t contain the joy of his brothers falling into their own trap.

"For all three meals?" Li Jain asked

"Yes,"

"If that’s what you kids decide, then ok."

Li Jain’s response was their last hope, and as soon as he agrees, the three Vermillion Academy brothers hug each other in despair.

"Vegetables are also delicious." Juanxin said

Three deadly gazes instantly shot him the moment the words left his mouth.

"I’ll go do my exercise first," he yelled, as he immediately dashed away laughing.

As Li Jain was busying around in the kitchen, Fan Ruyin came out, dressed much better than what she wore last night, but her makeup was still heavy.

"Morning Li Jain, you’re up really early."

"Good morning, how was your night?"

Fan Ruyin’s face flush when she thought about last night: "Good, thanks again for your help."

Li Jain on the other hand didn’t think much of it: "No problem. Is there any you’d like to eat?" 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚

Fan Ruyin’s eyes lit up immediately and she requested one of the expensive dishes in his tavern: "I want the Nine-Spirit River Prawn Dumplings."

Li Jain pauses for a moment. That dish was one of the expensive signature meals in his tavern. It required rare prawns soaked in spirit wine, then wrapped in thin dough with spiritual herbs. It was not something people casually requested for breakfast.

Li Cheng had just come in to refill the water jar. The moment he heard her words, his gaze turned icy cold.

Fang Ruyin noticed the look but ignored it.

Li Jain thought and said calmly: "You can have that for dinner; I’m asking about breakfast."

"Oh, ok," Fan Ruyin was embarrassed at her outburst request, but she was still going to eat it for dinner, so it wasn’t a complete loss: "I’ll have what everyone is having."

"That’s good, Sheng’er has just picked what everyone is having for breakfast."

"Is there anything I can help with?" She asked sweetly moving forward.

"No need, I like to work alone. And besides, you are the guest."

Fan Ruyin was happy with how Li Jain treated her. Since he is willing to give her a free meal worth hundreds of high-grade spirit stones, she figured she could get even better things from him later. After all; The Li Jain she knew wasn’t usually this giving.

She watched Li Jain busying himself in the kitchen with countless thoughts going through her mind.

Li Jain, in the Li family, had been a spoiled young master who loved to fool around. He relied on his constitution and talent and assumed life would always be easy. Proof of it was obvious. He had seven children from three different women at such a young age, creating chaos wherever he went.

After he was crippled by the poison and kicked out, the people they sent to spy on him said he had turned to gambling.

Who would’ve thought in a few years he suddenly became a boss? No one ever imagined he’d crawl back up like this!

Fang Ruyin’s eyes narrowed slightly and she began to calculate.
