Cursed System-Chapter 69: RAGNA worries 2
RAGNA POV...

"Please... can you do your thingy on me too?"
I had already heard the rumors by then—how people whispered behind our backs, how even though my family was branded as cursed, humans would always find an excuse to trample on someone they thought was already dead.
Because nothing angered them more than watching a so-called ruined family slowly start to look better, healthier, happier with each passing day, a sight that acted like poison to their tongues and knives to their pride.
"...Fine," I finally said after a long pause, exhaling softly.
"But only under the usual conditions—no one must ever know about this except you and me, not even Gustav."
Father hesitated, his brows knitting together as worry flickered across his face at the mention of that name, but after a brief silence, he nodded firmly, as if he understood that this was not a request, but a boundary that could never be crossed.
A few days later, I decided to head to Aunt Lilith’s house again, and since my family’s treatments had kept me busy, I didn’t mind skipping sales for a short while, but before disguising myself for the village market.
I thought it would be better to sell a few safe stalks of vegetables directly to her, to get the exact amount she needed for the evening and secure some coins for my parents—coins I could split between them and my own small savings, which I kept in a wooden box Father had carefully crafted for me, a simple thing with a narrow slit at the top, but one that somehow felt like proof that my future still existed.
Winter had already passed, and the weather had settled into an odd balance of lingering cold and gentle warmth, the biting wind from before now softened into something almost pleasant, and unlike previous trips, I reached my destination without trouble, standing in front of Lilith’s house and knocking while already bracing myself for her usual grumpy voice.
But nothing came.
No footsteps, no muttering, no annoyed complaints—just silence.
After waiting for a while, unease crept in, and I decided to circle around to the back of the house, wondering why there wasn’t any response at all, and just as I walked, a strange thought crossed my mind, making a faint smile tug at my lips before I forced myself to keep moving, my calm expression carefully masking whatever calculations were spinning inside my head.
The moment I reached the back, a sudden sense of danger brushed against my perception, but I was a fraction too slow.
The last thing I saw was a dark streak flashing through the air.
Pain exploded as I turned sharply to the right, my vision blurring as I tried to understand what had struck me.
"Gustav was right—the six-eyes maggot really showed up!"
’So my guess was right,’ I thought calmly, even as I suppressed my regeneration and forced my healing factor to remain dormant, my mind already drifting toward what I should do with these boys instead of reacting emotionally.
"Heck, the freaking demon doesn’t know his place, walking around like some arse," another childish voice sneered.
Before I could fully ground myself, someone yanked my long gray hair, dragging me forward roughly, and a sharp smack landed across my face.
"Look how disgusting he is!"
Six boys surrounded me almost instantly, wooden sticks clutched tightly in their hands, forcing me down to my knees as my face began to swell, their eyes filled not with fear, but with righteous fury born from ignorance.
"You little piece of shit!" one of them shouted. "Gustav told us you’d be here, and today we’ll help the Eyes of the Gods purge this abomination!"
"Yeah!" another yelled. "Who knows what evil you’ll bring to our village!"
"May the gods bless our good deeds!"
They didn’t see a child kneeling before them—only a monster they had already decided to destroy—and according to Gustav’s plan, they weren’t just meant to hurt me, but to cripple me permanently, to make sure I’d never walk freely again, just as he believed his own freedom had been stolen from him.
A hand gripped my jaw, followed by a punch to my stomach that knocked the air out of me, then a kick grazed my face, a sharp crack echoing as one of my baby teeth fell free, and laughter erupted.
"After this, let’s see how you survive without limbs!" someone jeered.
Another blow slammed into my face, my vision darkening at the edges, and soon fists and sticks rained down on my chest, my arms, my legs, each hit sending waves of pain through my body, each groan threatening to snap the fragile restraint I was maintaining, because every instinct screamed at me to tear them apart—but I endured.
I had to.
I was dragged back upright only to be forced down again, my thoughts scattering as pain throbbed through my body, until a sharp strike to my waist jolted me fully awake, and in that moment, clarity washed over me.
Enough.
One of the boys—the same one who had punched me earlier—stepped forward, spitting in disgust as the others paused, and that was when I moved.
With my right hand, I seized one of the wooden sticks mid-air, my grip tightening with just enough strength to make the wood scream under pressure, cracks spreading along its length as the boy froze, instinctively stumbling backward, his eyes widening as he finally realized—
This wasn’t a helpless monster kneeling before them anymore.
