Daddy CEO's Beloved Wife-Chapter 594: Emerging Victorious
The hallway outside was chaos.
Alarms blared, red lights flashing as armed men poured in from every direction.
Song Yu Han moved calmly.
Ran Xueyi remained secured in his arms, her head resting against his chest. Her breathing was steady, and she looked as if she were sleeping peacefully. Song Yu Han adjusted his grip slightly, angling her face inward to shield her from the glares and attention of these violent men.
The first wave of men rushed out of the hallway.
Song Yu Han looked at Ran Xueyi for a moment before he slowly raised his gaze to look at the threat in front of him.
But they didn't even get close.
The instant they showed up, gunshots erupted. Behind and in every direction of the attackers, the almost impossible to dodge bullets burst through the walls, hitting them almost instantly. Blood splattered against the walls as bodies dropped before they even realized what the hell was going on.
As the number of people dwindled, the ones who were responsible for their deaths finally came out.
They formally came out of each door in the hallway.
They were people wearing uniforms of the ship's staff members of the ship.
Song Yu Han's reinforcements had arrived.
Cao Yujin was right to beg for her life. Although she didn't get any pardon, it still proved that she had clearly known Song Yu Han's ways.
Song Yu Han didn't come unprepared. Nor did he come aboard the ship completely alone. He had only boarded it first. His men would track the ship and follow him. Then, they would do their own infiltration and find ways to disguise themselves in order not to get caught before Song Yu Han rescued Ran Xueyi.
The sudden entrance of these people stopped the armed guards from advancing. But even with them not acting, who said Song Yu Han's men wouldn't act?
His men surrounded him, forming a protective wall of flesh, deterring any attackers from getting close. The attackers couldn't even aim before they got shot themselves.
Ran Xueyi stirred faintly in his arms.
Song Yu Han withdrew his gaze and looked down on her.
Her eyebrows creased as she began to regain consciousness.
Song Yu Han tightened his arms around her.
"Xueyi…" he called her name softly.
At this moment, the sound of gunshots continued to fall.
At the same time, Ran Xueyi snapped her eyes open.
Her pupils adjusted to the sudden light that entered, and finally, they reflected his face in them.
"Yu Han…" Her voice came out fragile and hoarse. "Is that you?"
"Yes, it's me," Song Yu Han answered immediately, lowering his head to brush his lips against her hair. "I'm here."
…
Elsewhere on the ship, panic finally spread.
The guests in the banquet hall finally realized that something was terribly wrong. The music cut out abruptly. Screams echoed from a distant place, followed by the eerie and hair-raising sound of gunfire.
People stood from their seats in confusion, looking around them in hopes of getting an answer.
"What's going on?"
"Is this part of the event?"
"Isn't it a bit too early for a firework show?"
"Where's the handler?"
They didn't get answers as the ship suddenly tipped over, sending them stumbling all over the place.
As if that wasn't enough to add to their fear and confusion, the tall door to the hall was kicked open.
Men and women wearing huge guns across their bodies and holding pistols in their hands flooded in.
There were no words exchanged. No attempt to negotiate or announce what the hell was going on.
Gunfire tore through the space.
The first guests fell where they stood. The sounds of glasses and wood being hit by bullets, followed by the number of people falling to the ground, filled the banquet hall.
In the first few seconds, no one spoke. But as the white tablecloths bloomed in red, screams quickly covered the sound of gunshots.
The guests who knew something bad had happened dropped to the floor, crawling under the tables. Those who froze in shock and disbelief quickly followed the dead bodies.
None of it mattered.
Whoever they were and wherever they came from was of no importance.
The ship was a pot of gathering evil. Who the lesser and bigger evils are didn't differentiate in the way they died.
Song Yu Han's men advanced like the plague of death.
They never got the chance.
Within minutes, the banquet hall was transformed into a slaughterhouse. The laughter and conversations that filled it earlier were replaced by silence. Only the croaks of those who breathed their last and the wet sounds of blood pooling on the floor remained.
…
Lu Chengyu felt the tremor beneath his feet.
The sounds of gunfire were no longer kept hidden from him.
There had been an attack.
"Sir," one of his subordinates rushed to him, face pale. "We've lost contact with multiple of our people."
Lu Chengyu darkened. "Did you find out where they came from?"
"No, sir."
"What about the people inside the Rite Chamber?" Lu Chengyu frowned deeply as he received a negative response. "Are you sure no one survived inside?"
His subordinate nodded.
Lu Chengyu wanted to rush out and confirm this. But he was afraid of leaving his master. He wanted to know if Ran Xueyi was killed, too. And if she wasn't, he wanted to be there to kill her personally since everything had gone bad, anyway. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
"Let's get out of here."
"But security–"
"Forget security," Lu Chengyu snapped. "Get anyone you can get and have them escort His Excellency. Now!"
Defending the ship was pointless.
Lu Chengyu knew better than anyone that the ship's security had failed. Or else, how would anyone bypass a beam canon a scientist-engineer had developed for war? It was supposed to work at the first sign of threat toward the ship. Yet, someone actually disarmed it.
It was fortunate that His Excellency was the last to attend the ritual. If he had come even a second earlier, Lu Chengyu was uncertain whether he could protect him.
It was a good thing that his master returned to his quarters to retrieve something and avoided a calamity.
The door opened and revealed a man with a cane.
"Sir, we have to go," Lu Chengyu gravely informed him. "The ship is down. I need to get you off the ship."
The man was silent at first. He looked at Lu Chengyu, and for the first time, the smile at the tip of his lips didn't appear.
"I know."
Their entourage started their path outside.
Lu Chengyu had already pressed the distress signal. By the time they come out, their rescue team will be there to take them to safety.
However, when they came out to stand on the deck, they were immediately shocked to see a fleet of ships surrounding them. Each one had several people holding guns and explosives, ready to throw at them.
…
Inside the ship, Song Yu Han continued forward.
Explosions rocked the lower decks as his men sealed off escape routes and destroyed the ship. Smoke poured through the windows. Fire spread along the corridors and devoured the inside of the ship.
Still, Song Yu Han walked unhurriedly.
A path was opened for him by his men wherever he went. Not even fire dared to get in his way.
They reached the final exit leading to the open deck.
The heat intensified. The wind on the sea helped fuel the flames. Thick black smoke billowed into the night sky.
Ran Xueyi shivered as the cold air touched her skin.
Song Yu Han held her closer. "Just a little longer. You'll feel better."
They emerged onto the deck.
At the same time, fire roared behind them.
In front, several people stood on either side. And beyond the ship, a fleet stopped right before it with all the searchlights focused on them.
Song Yu Han stepped forward.
Behind him, his men, who came out later, followed.
Across the deck, Lu Chengyu and the man with the cane stared.
Song Yu Han looked in their way and met their gazes head-on. But instead of holding their stare down, he looked away and walked past them.
Lu Chengyu tried to step forward, his eyes bloodshot and directed toward Ran Xueyi, who was cradled in Song Yu Han's arms.
However, before he could bring his foot down, a hole appeared on the wooden floor that his foot was supposed to step on.
It was a warning.
No one should move, or they will be filled with holes like that wooden floor.
Song Yu Han left behind carnage that was beyond what anyone could have done.
Under the night sky, he carried Ran Xueyi away from hell without disruption.
