Daddy, You Got The Wrong Mommy-Chapter 409: He Was Just Overthinking
"Waaah..."
The sound of a child crying came from inside the room.
Sarah Moore quickly pushed Manny Knight aside and rushed into the inner room.
"Coco, don’t cry, mommy is here."
Sarah Moore picked up the little one crying on the bed, gently comforting with soft words.
The little one, recognizing the familiar presence, stopped crying, pouted in grievance, and snuggled against Sarah’s neck.
The soft body of the child emitted a faint scent of milk.
Sarah Moore’s heart melted.
Though this was not her biological daughter, she felt as if she were.
It seemed heaven had pity on her, using this child to compensate for the pain of losing her own flesh and blood.
Manny Knight didn’t stop her, merely stared dazedly in the direction of the inner room, his eyes faintly reddened.
That’s his woman and child — could he really only watch helplessly as they drift further away from him?
Thud!
His chest took a hit.
Frost Moore couldn’t hold back and directly punched Manny Knight.
Caught off guard by the blow, Manny staggered backward, nearly falling.
Thankfully, the bodyguard caught him in time.
The bodyguard scowled, ready to handle Frost Moore, but Manny stopped him.
He clutched his chest and looked at Frost Moore, saying nothing.
Frost Moore glared at Manny, his refined and handsome face full of cold anger.
"Manny, you murderer! I warn you, stay away from my niece in the future. Otherwise, I’ll definitely kill you!"
If it weren’t for him, his sister wouldn’t have died.
Now, he even wants to take away his sister’s widow!
He wished he could just finish him off! 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
"Bro, let’s go."
Sarah Moore, holding her daughter, came out from the inner room and hurriedly walked to Amelia Miles’ side.
Amelia, somewhat wary, watched Manny Knight and his bodyguard, protecting the mother and daughter as they left.
Damon Hawke nodded slightly to Manny and left afterward.
The door slammed shut, and Manny Knight stood still, feeling as if all strength had drained from him.
His eyes were filled with redness as he crouched down, covering his face, allowing tears to fall down his cheeks.
Outside.
Frost Moore took the child from Sarah Moore, saying nothing, gently stroking the little girl’s soft hair.
Sarah Moore and Amelia exchanged a knowing glance, each understanding the unsaid.
This was the bloodline of the real Sarah Moore nearly taken away; as the uncle, Frost Moore must be feeling very upset.
"Elly, Mr. Hawke, thank you both."
Sarah Moore sighed inwardly and thanked them.
"It’s nothing, just a small favor. Let us give you a ride back."
Amelia Miles squeezed Sarah’s hand, curving her lips into a smile.
Sarah Moore nodded, got into the car Damon Hawke had called for them.
On the other side.
Houghton Club.
Before the large floor-to-ceiling window, Craig Landers held a cigarette in one hand and a glass of red wine in the other, staring fixedly at the night scene outside.
The room was filled with the smell of smoke, his long silhouette engulfed in heartbreak.
On the table lay a document, a genetic test report.
It turned out he had been paranoid.
This Sarah Moore wasn’t his wife Leia Quinn!
He had foolishly believed that Leia Quinn had changed her appearance and was unwilling to meet him.
But all along, it was just his imagination!
Suddenly his heart felt like it was being gripped by an invisible hand, unbearably painful.
He gulped down some wine, allowing the spicy liquid to flood his mouth.
Lily Johnson coughed several times upon entering the smoky room.
She waved the smoke away from her eyes and called out, "Mr. Landers."
Craig Landers extinguished the cigarette and glanced sideways at her.
"What is it?"
"Oh, I’m here to update you on the progress. Frost Moore agreed to stay, so he probably won’t leave now."
Lily was slightly excited, her eyes bright.
Craig Landers showed no expression, saying only, "Don’t report their matters to me anymore."
Since she wasn’t Leia Quinn, it didn’t matter to him whether they stayed or not.
Lily was taken aback, surprised by his response.
"What about my tuition..."
"What I promised, I won’t go back on. You may leave now."
Craig Landers frowned, speaking in a hoarse tone.
"Alright."
Though puzzled by Craig Landers’ sudden change in attitude, Lily was relieved as long as he kept his promise.
Her tuition was finally settled!
Plus, she could keep seeing Frost Moore!
Was her life about to turn fortunate?
Lily felt secretly happy, recalling Frost Moore’s earlier loss of control, her smile faded slightly.
He asked her to return first and rest while they searched for Sarah Moore’s child.
Not knowing if the child had been found.
Reaching Frost Moore’s room, Lily swiped the card to enter.
He had given her the room card, did it mean he intended for her to live there from now on?
That man was a gentleman. Would he lose control of his desires and make a move on her?
If he did, should she resist or give in?
Thinking of Frost Moore’s refined and handsome face made Lily’s ears warm.
She never had a boyfriend, though many boys had pursued her.
They were too immature; only Frost Moore seemed more appealing than any man at her school.
If he truly desired her, she might welcome it.
Cough, what was she thinking?
Lily covered her face.
Then came a knock on the door.
Knowing Frost Moore had returned, Lily composed herself and went to open the door.
Outside, Frost Moore had just sent Sarah Moore and the child back to the opposite room, returning after settling the child.
His face showed sheer exhaustion, as if he’d just been through a battle.
"Brother Frost, did you find the child?"
Lily hurried to lead him inside.
Frost Moore nodded, taking a seat on the sofa.
"Brother Frost, I’ll get you some water."
Seeing Frost Moore’s worn-out demeanor, Lily went to fetch him a drink.
But Frost Moore grabbed her hand and pulled her into his embrace.
Lily was stunned, sensing his faint cold scent, she stammered, "Bro, Brother Frost..."
"Don’t go, just let me hold you for a while."
Frost Moore held her tightly; his tone gentle, with a hint of pain.
Lily froze, feeling his melancholy and said nothing nor pushed him away.
She wrapped her arms around him, gently patting his back, silently comforting him.
She didn’t know why he suddenly seemed so downcast.
Probably thinking of his deceased girlfriend?
She suddenly felt a bit envious of the girlfriend who held a place in his heart.
Frost Moore closed his eyes, clutching the woman in his arms.
He didn’t know why he suddenly became sentimental.
Was it painful memories of lost loved ones, or because there was now someone like her by his side?
He couldn’t help wanting to be emotional, wanting comfort.
The woman’s body was soft, exuding a unique fragrance.
Frost Moore slowly released her, his gaze falling on her rosy lips, as he leaned in to kiss them...
