Daddy's Gourmet Shop-Chapter 352 - 342: Making Fried Tangyuan
The cold wind blew outside the shop.
Inside, however, it was warm and cozy, like home. The soft yellow lighting dimly illuminated every corner of the shop.
It felt especially inviting.
But in the back kitchen, the bright incandescent lights were on.
Huang Tao made tangyuan tirelessly while smiling at the little figure sitting at a designated dining table not far away.
Little Xuanxuan sat in her chair, leaning over her clean dedicated dining table, carefully coloring in her sketchbook with her crayons, making a swishing sound.
Like a quiet little flower.
Mimi lay bored at her feet, squinting her eyes, dozing off.
When Huang Tao’s gaze fell on her, Xuanxuan sensed it and looked up. When her gaze met her father’s, shallow dimples appeared on her cheeks.
Suddenly.
Xuanxuan seemed to think of something.
She hurriedly picked up the drawing paper on the table and held it high above her head.
She was showing off her masterpiece to her dad!
Alright then, from this distance and angle, Huang Tao couldn’t see what she had drawn at all.
But even so, he still gave her a silent thumbs up in praise.
Xuanxuan beamed with joy, more motivated now, continuing to color.
Seeing his daughter immersed in her own little art world, Huang Tao withdrew his gaze and continued to wrap tangyuan.
Xu Hao noticed that his boss didn’t place the brought yellow breadcrumbs into the storage cabinet, but left them casually on the stove. He also saw the boss put the newly made tangyuan into the fridge to freeze, which made him curious: "Boss, did you bring this pack of breadcrumbs to make some kind of fried food? You’re not planning to fry the tangyuan, are you?"
Huang Tao’s hands didn’t stop moving, as he replied casually, "Yes, I’m planning to make some fried tangyuan."
Li Chengzhan perked up upon hearing this.
His eyes lit up as he eagerly asked, "Boss, why did you suddenly decide to make fried tangyuan? Is this a new product to be launched this morning?"
"It’s not a new product."
Huang Tao shook his head to deny, then smiled slightly as he responded, "It’s just that Xuanxuan said she wanted something crispy on the outside yet with sesame inside, so I thought I’d fry some tangyuan for her to try."
Oh, so that’s it.
Upon hearing this, Xu Hao, Lin Zifeng, Jiang Chao, Ding Suqin, Li Chengzhan, and Lin Qiuyu all showed expressions of admiration on their faces.
And in their hearts, they couldn’t help but envy Xuanxuan.
Li Chengzhan gave Huang Tao a thumbs up, saying, "Boss, I don’t bow to anyone except you. You’re the strongest supporter of the pampering daughter scene, spoiling Xuanxuan so much."
If Huang Tao doesn’t spoil his only daughter, who else would he spoil?
"Okay, enough of that."
Huang Tao chuckled, "I’ll fry a few extra, so you all can try too."
Although he had no systematic experience and skills in frying tangyuan, he had already completely grasped the knack for frying crispy charms.
So, it shouldn’t be too much of a problem; he should be able to hold it down.
Yes, that’s right!
He planned to fry the tangyuan using a low-temperature frying method later.
As for the final fried result, he was ninety percent confident.
Li Chengzhan was instantly overjoyed when he heard that they’d get to try the fried tangyuan.
They were benefiting from Xuanxuan’s blessing!
Xuanxuan truly was their little goddess of fortune!
They happily expressed their gratitude repeatedly, "Thank you, boss!"
"No need to thank me. Bring me a small bowl and a large bowl, then crack seven eggs into the small bowl and beat them."
With this instruction, Lin Zifeng, who was temporarily free, swiftly brought over a small bowl and a large bowl, then followed Huang Tao’s instructions to crack seven eggs into the bowl and quickly beat them.
Huang Tao then poured the yellow breadcrumbs into a large bowl.
Yellow breadcrumbs were used because it would be easier for them to become golden when frying.
The upcoming frying process required low temperature and using white breadcrumbs wouldn’t color as easily.
He then brought over a tray of finished tangyuan.
Once all the ingredients were ready, Huang Tao began the preparation process.
He placed some tangyuan into the small bowl filled with egg mixture, gently shaking the bowl a few times so that the tangyuan inside would be evenly coated with egg mixture from all sides.
He then used a slotted spoon to lift the tangyuan, draining the excess egg mixture, and transferred them into the large bowl containing yellow breadcrumbs.
Next, with chopsticks, he rolled each tangyuan in the yellow breadcrumbs a few times, making sure every tangyuan was coated in yellow breadcrumbs.
Finally, he used chopsticks to pick out the tangyuan covered in yellow breadcrumbs and carefully placed them on the tray beside him.
Repeating this process!
Quickly, he had all the tangyuan ready for frying, coated in egg mixture and yellow breadcrumbs.
He picked up a clean, large iron pot, placing it on the stove, preparing to fry the tangyuan.
Fire it up.
Once the pot was hot, he poured in a dozen or so pounds of peanut oil from a large oil jar.
Then he adjusted the heat to medium.
This was to avoid raising the oil temperature too quickly, which would make frying impossible.
But initially, the heat shouldn’t be too low either,
because the tangyuan needed to remain frozen.
If the tangyuan thawed,
even at a low oil temperature, there would be a risk of them bursting.
When the oil’s heat reached about thirty percent, he turned the medium heat to low.
He lowered the tangyuan one by one into the oil pot.
Due to the low oil temperature, the tangyuan sank to the bottom of the pot once they hit the oil.
From the oil’s surface, there was no reaction at all.
This was understandable.
The low-temperature frying process was a very slow one, unlike the rapid and intense high-temperature frying.
Patience was necessary.
After about 5 minutes, he picked up a bamboo spatula and carefully stirred along the bottom of the pot.
This was naturally to prevent the tangyuan from sticking to the pot and to help them roll around for even frying.
After this, it was just a matter of controlling the oil temperature and patiently waiting.
When the golden tangyuan floated slowly up from the bottom of the pot, it meant that they were done frying.
They could be taken out now!
Picking up a slotted spoon, Huang Tao instructed, "Zifeng, bring me a large plate."
Almost instantly, a large plate was placed by his stove.
Huang Tao scooped the tangyuan out with the slotted spoon, placing them in the large plate.
The golden, glistening tangyuan looked incredibly appetizing!
"Just looking at the color, you know the crust must be very crispy."
Lin Zifeng, helping on the side, unconsciously swallowed, eyes gleaming, looking as if he wanted to dig in immediately.
"Of course, anything made by our boss is bound to be delicious." Li Chengzhan agreed, nodding, with his stomach growling terribly now!
If it weren’t for the tangyuan being too hot to taste immediately, he would have grabbed one to try now.
But to avoid burning his mouth, he had to patiently wait.
Since the tangyuan filling contained fats and sugars, after frying, they were completely melted.
Eating them hastily would result in only a burned mouth!
Everyone who understood this knew not to touch hastily and quietly watched.
Watching fried tangyuan to satisfy their craving!
Huang Tao started frying the second batch of tangyuan.
Just then, a cold voice from the system suddenly echoed in Huang Tao’s mind.
