Date a Witch: Reborn as the Witch of Lust! (GL)-Chapter 96: Cult’s Ambush! (And Mel was not their goal?)
Chapter 96: Cult’s Ambush! (And Mel was not their goal?)
Mel and Maria descended the cliffside, their gazes lingering on the lizardman.
Their black hide shimmered under the bright sun, their swirly lava-like eyes drifted towards the duo sitting on a broom.
Their shoulders twitched as sharpened mana crystals erupted from them, growing rapidly as they lunged forward on all fours.
Their steps were fierce, yet splashing hollow sounds on the cold, indifferent soil.
"<Summon: Kitsu>. <Summon: Eagle-eye>."
Mel didn’t hesitate, a red panda materialising to echo her resolve to end the lizardmen’s torments.
Meanwhile, the Eagle-eye, now adorned with sunglasses, held one eye with an exaggerated bow, ’coolness’ oozing from him.
His silver-armoured sister would have scoffed at the scene, but Mel merely chuckled as she pointed at the lizardmen. "<Echo Series: Rally>."
With a novice Echo Buff, a violet hue coated the summons’ skins, their bodies visibly relaxed as the Kitsu dashed to meet the lizardmen’s assault.
One Lizardman roared, its crystal-like talon swinging for Kitsu’s head as it drew near.
Kitsu ducked beneath the blow, its paw darting to its waist before striking upward against the creature’s elbow.
Creak.
The blow landed right between the crystals. Mel shuddered as the lizardman’s arm folded inward, before Kitsu’s violet-coated palm thrusted at the creature’s head.
Smack!
The Lizardman’s skull cracked under the strung tension, the crystals cracking as its body fell to the ground.
A breath hitched in Mel’s throat as she met the dead lizardman’s lifeless, wide eyes, before she gritted her teeth, snapping back her attention to the other two lizardmen who leaped for Kitsu.
Right as the red panda retracted his arm for another stance, a talon bolted near its heart-
Then a flash-
A breeze tore through as an arrow lodged itself into the lizardman’s head.
Blood spilled on the white karate uniform as Kitsu moaned in regret, yet still, he tilted his head.
Another breeze, this time the talon’s shadow hovered right above its shoulder, as the red panda met the frenzied eyes of the lizardman.

"<Echo Series: Sonic Boom>."
A burst of violet energy rose from Kitsu’s chest, her black pearl eyes burning a faint violet flame as she thrusted both palms forward to the creature’s chest.
Smash!
The sheer force tore through the crystals; the lizardman gasping against the violent blow before its body slumped.
Catching the creature’s body mid-fall, Kitsu held the lizardman’s corpse before slowly settling it to the ground, a respect ordained by the peacekeeper towards all lives on Earth.
Meanwhile, the Eagle-eye raised his bow with one hand, the other pulling the string dramatically to strike for another pose, aiming for her Master’s admiration.
"Hehe. Very good job, you two."
Upon her Master’s praise, the red panda Kitsu’s steps hobbled back, glaring at the Eagle-eye for his embarrassing performance.
The Eagle-eye shuddered under the pleasure, quickly abandoning his prideful weapon and hiding behind his Master.
"Hehe. How cute." Mel patted Eagle-eye’s beak as she heard the Kitsu sigh. "Almost approaching my Lila Cuteness Meter, but not enough."
She watched the Eagle-eye shift awkwardly under her touch, his eyes flickering everywhere as he determined whether to be embarrassed or grateful.
Kitsu rolled his eyes before bowing before Mel to ask for the same.
"Lila Cuteness Meter..." The Saintess, sitting sideways at the broom behind Mel, sighed. "Envy made quite a deep impression, huh?"
"As my childhood friend, with whom I first shared my bed, of course." Mel’s other hand reached out to pat Kitsu, her lips curling up.
"Well, thanks to my arrangement earlier, I’ve just been notified by Saria she’s too busy competing with Rosana while trying to find you, partly thanks to the Heiress’s excellent taunting talents."
The Saintess tilted her head with a menacing smile. "So as long as the Cult wasn’t overly bloodthirsty, her attention will be too distracted to locate us here."
"Sneaky...why so possessive..." Mel purred, then mind scoured for a tease.
She smirked. "You know, Maria, as my first Partner, you were also a sorta first wife for me, right?"
"Oh?" The Saintess’s voice lightened in amusement, flicking her brown hair aside.
With a smirk, Maria patted Mel. "That’s a given, Mel. Though don’t be mistaken."
"Hm?" A confused hum escaped Mel’s lips, her mind reeling from the headpat chain she once again conjured.
The Saintess licked her lips before leaning in to whisper hot breaths into Mel’s ear. "First can mean many and everything, my Partner."
As Mel shuddered, her back bending instinctively into the Saintess’s chest.
Then, Maria’s hand slithered around Mel’s trembling waist, circling her tummy. "I can give first to Envy, and many more to others."
With a bite of Mel’s reddened ear, the Saintess declared. "But the first who would get you pregnant... will be me. No questions asked."
"Hic!"
The Witch’s eyes watered, her tongue trembling for a simple retort, if not for Maria’s firm grasp and the plump chests that billowed at her back.
"Maria..." Still tilting her head to enjoy Maria’s petting, Mel forced out a confession she never would have imagined saying.
"Where... where’s my consent...?"
"Ah... consent?" Maria pecked a kiss at Mel’s neck. "I can see your bottom already wetting for me, though?"
"That’s not..."
As Mel struggled against Maria’s barrage of words mixed with more kisses, the summons at the side had their jaws clenched.
They were summoned to fight the berserk lizardmen, but in a strange twist, they found their Master dominated by an unfamiliar elf woman.
Is this part of the play by the Witch of Lust? That must be it, right?
An unexpected alignment of thoughts linked, as the summons’ gazes locked with each other, reaching the same conclusion despite their wildly different personalities.
Yet as their eyes squinted at Mel’s neck, now being bitten, a horn blew from the forest.
Hooded figures emerged and filled the cliffside above, bows in their hands as they aimed at the four below.
Vigilance sparked within them, their confusion about the Master and elf momentarily forgotten as Kitsu took cover beside his Master, while Eagle-eye lifted his bow, aiming at the enemy.
The Cultists finally appeared, huh?
As Maria released Mel from her grip, their faces turned stern against the brooding hostility in the air.
Another figure jumped from the cliffside, his metal boots landing on the soil on the ground.
He was masked, metal armours clinging to his chest as he held a pickaxe in one hand, chained with a sickle on the other.
They both assumed the cult had monitored them for a while, which is why they had landed beneath the cliff.
A perfect spot for an ambush, but also a bait for the Cultists to show themselves.
All to target for Mel, as Maria has explained to Mel herself.
But as the masked figure spoke, a common surprise flickered across their stares.
"Hand that elf over, Miss Pink Hair. We don’t want any harm to her or you."
