Chapter 4542 - 3625: Edge of Tomorrow (34)

Pamela cleared her throat and said, "Then we are on the same path. The investor backing my plant laboratory suffered great losses in this chemical plant attack. To secure the next research fund, I had to come teach them a lesson."

"Hmph, these fools really don't know their place," Talya said. "Our plan was in its final stages, yet they disrupted it, causing me to lose a lot of money and many partners. Since you're here to trouble them too, I think we can cooperate."

"No problem," Pamela nodded and said, "But I heard you're not the only one who got their business snatched. You should know the first mercenary involved in the securities manufacturing case, Deathstroke, right?"

"Of course, he was quite efficient. But what about him?"

"X Task Force also offended him. I'm not clear about the specifics, but he should be seeking trouble with them too."

"That has nothing to do with me. Besides, even without you guys, the Assassin's Union wouldn't have much trouble dealing with them."

"You may not know yet, but they've recruited two capable helpers this time," Pamela shook her head and said, "Two Batmans from other cosmos have come. They've formed an alliance with Waller. If we don't work together, those two might really mess things up."

"Batmans from other cosmos?" Talya furrowed her brows. She didn't have a good impression of the former Batman, Bruce.

"That's right," Pamela said, somewhat exaggeratedly. "Batmans are always troublesome. And, I heard Batman and Superman came together. If he can't win, he calls his teammate. Can you beat Superman?"

Talya's expression turned grim. She had some understanding of Superman. No matter how smart Batman was, he was just an ordinary human. Against a ninja who could come and go without a trace, he had no advantage. But Superman was different. Crushing a few ninjas was as easy as crushing chicks.

"Tell me your plan," Talya said.

On the other side, Deathstroke had already reached near the base. Leaning against the wall by the window, he said to Brainiac, "How do you plan to get the camera inside? Do you need me to shoot?"

"No need. You wait here for a while. Pamela's almost done talking. Once they come to join you, you can attack together."

Deathstroke nodded, showing no objections. However, he was curious about how Brainiac planned to place the camera on the X Task Force members.

About two minutes later, Deathstroke heard the roar of a motorcycle. He thought it was Batman coming, but when the motorcycle came into view, it had the logo of a noodle shop on it.

The motorcycle stopped in front of the yard, and the delivery guy shouted, "Takeout!" Soon after, Deadshot came out.

"Here's your fried noodles," the delivery guy handed over the box, then said, "This is our restaurant's point card. Whether dining in or ordering out, collect 10 points, and you can get one for free."

Deadshot took the box from him and then the point card, seeing seven holes already punched in it.

"Oh, it's because we ordered seven, right?"

"That's right," the delivery guy nodded and said, "Order three more, and you get one free."

"Your promotion is pretty good," Deadshot smiled, putting the point card in his pocket. Under the sunlight, some words on the card gleamed with a metallic sheen.

After he went back inside, Deathstroke jumped down from the tree he was on and said, "If Batman knew how you easily got them to carry a surveillance device, he'd feel his luck was down."

"No," Brainiac said, "I don't know if you humans have some unique quirks. Many industrial parts are made big and cumbersome, yet cameras are designed very advanced, small, and hidden. So it's not entirely my credit."

Soon, Deathstroke heard the sound of a helicopter again. He quickly hid in the tree, concealing himself. A helicopter with the "Federal Bureau of Investigation" insignia landed next to the house.

Two Batmans got off the helicopter and walked toward the front door of the house. Deathstroke's position was just outside their line of sight, so they didn't notice him.

Although the camera was already installed, Deathstroke didn't immediately check it. Soon he saw Pamela and Talya approaching, hidden under the cover of vines.

"You saw the helicopter too, didn't you?" Deathstroke asked.

Although Pamela came with him, to not expose their alliance, he acted cautiously and began negotiating first.

"That's right, and we also saw Batman chose to join them. You know how troublesome Batman can be. Since you're also here to trouble them, why don't we work together?"

Deathstroke hesitated, and after a moment he said, "I'm a mercenary, with no personal vendetta. To be honest, it's my boss who wants to trouble them."

"But he probably didn't mandate you act alone, right? As long as we eliminate them here, it counts as mission accomplished for you," Talya said.

"That's right," Pamela echoed, "Besides, this can save you a lot of time, especially in logistics."

"Are you saying you'll handle the cleanup?"

"The Assassin's Union will clean up the battlefield," Talya said directly, without hiding anything. "No matter how many people die, nothing will be left behind here. You can rest assured."

"Alright," Deathstroke finally nodded, "but regarding the attack strategy, you must listen to me. Otherwise, it will be difficult to take down Batman."

Talya frowned slightly, but Pamela gave her a look and whispered, "He's the world's number one mercenary, surely he's got some tricks. Don't you want to see them?"

Ultimately, Talya agreed to Deathstroke's proposal. However, she did not hand over the Ninja's command to Deathstroke but instead listened to his battle plan first.

Several people gathered on the grass behind a bush near the house to study the battle plan. Deathstroke laid out the floor plan of the house that he had obtained earlier on the ground, pointing to several windows, and said:

"Considering that most of them need a large and open space to fully utilize their abilities, we need to trap them inside the house. First, you need to have people block this spot..."

It had to be said, Deathstroke's tactical level was top-notch. With the floor plan and the group's information, he was like a tiger with wings. After laying out the plan, even Talya couldn't find any fault with it.

Deathstroke's strategy was actually easy to understand. Most of the X Task Force members posed no threat to Ninjas who could conceal their tracks at any time. Take Deadshot, for instance; he needs to aim before shooting to hit his target. If he can't see them, his ability is useless.

None of the others had any particularly special detection capabilities. So, to deal with the Ninjas, a large-scale group attack would have to be employed.

But this isn't a game where you can turn off friendly fire. To detect the Ninjas with a group attack, there must be enough open space for the formation to spread out. If everyone is standing together, one big attack could truly be catastrophic.

So Deathstroke chose to have people block the doors and windows, then send in Ninjas to raid and harass. If someone tries to escape one by one, they would fall into the Ninja's fold; if they hide inside the house, they are likely to be attacked by their own side.

The Ninjas are responsible for blocking and harassing, while Pamela and Deathstroke are responsible for killing. The reason for this arrangement is naturally because they both have their own agendas.

It's uncertain if the group can withstand the Ninjas. If Talya ends up getting involved and kills everyone, then Amanda would have no one to play with and would have to go back to farming.

They want Amanda to hire them, so they must injure but not kill, causing significant damage to the team, losing combat capabilities, but able to compensate by hiring others. That's when they'd have their opportunity. So, they must keep control of the operation in their own hands.

Talya had no objections to this. It was obvious that blocking and harassing work is much easier, while rushing in for close combat can lead to a deadly counterattack, resulting in heavy losses. It's better to leave it to outsiders.

The Ninjas began to move in an orderly fashion, ready to ambush at the doors and windows. Deathstroke circled around to the windows at the back, while Pamela went directly to the front door.

She approached the gate and pressed the doorbell. Shadows moved inside the window, seemingly someone got up to open the door, but another figure stopped him.

"Batman's alertness is indeed impressive," Pamela said lowly, "but it won't help him."

She then extended one hand, and a vine smashed the window. She herself flipped over the garden wall, and with a sweeping motion of both hands, numerous thick vines sprouted from the ground, tightly wrapping the house.

The inside was immediately in chaos. Black smoke kept rising, presumably from the Ninjas storming in to harass. Pamela jumped in through the broken window, just as a shimmering boomerang whizzed past her ear.

Looking up, she saw a man standing on the second floor with two more boomerangs in his hand, ready to throw.

Suddenly, a flower in a pot on the second-floor balcony moved sharply, pulling the pot along as it flew forward.

Bang!

A flowerpot slammed heavily into the back of Captain Boomerang's head, knocking him off the second floor and onto the ground floor, landing on the Ground where the Witch was just poised to use her magic.

The Witch, already slim and not at all suited for close combat, wasn't made for it. Captain Boomerang wasn't overweight either, but he was still a grown man. Falling from two or three meters high, he landed on the Witch, directly fracturing her ribs.

"Ugh!!" the Witch let out a scream.

But no one else had time to care about her, as Deathstroke also burst through a window from the back and fired a burst into the figure in the center of the living room. Batman took two shots as well.

The first to be hit was Slipknot, who was closer to the rear window. He was eating fried noodles and hadn't had a chance to grab his ropes. The bullet pierced his chest, and he lay bleeding on the ground, dying shortly thereafter.

Next was Captain Boomerang, who had just gotten up from the floor, hit from the back, and laid flat on the ground. The Witch seemed to have some magical ability, avoiding being hit by bullets, but with the suppressive fire, she crouched behind the sofa, too scared to come out.

Batman reacted fastest of all. They had found cover as soon as the window shattered—but in the wrong direction. The one who rushed in from the front didn't have a gun. Deathstroke shot from behind, and Batman's shoulder was also hit by a bullet.

Deadshot wasn't swept immediately as he was close to the door, with a sofa and other large items blocking the way. When he realized what was happening, he aimed his gun, but Deathstroke had timed it well. After a burst, he leaped out the window. When Deadshot raised his gun, his target was already out of range.

When he turned his gun towards Pamela, she had already made her way up to the second floor, shielded by bullet fire.
