The fish pond spanned more than ten acres and was completely fenced in. A villa was even built on the property, making it one of the few profitable businesses around Shanhe Village.

When Chen Xiaobei was a farmer, he had heard about this fish pond. The owner was said to be well-connected; that was why the plan to build a bridge back then had failed.

After parking behind Qiu Xingcai’s Audi A6, they both got out of the car.

"Wow! The countryside really is the best. This air, this scent... it’s so fresh," Qiu Xingcai said, stretching her arms out to let the breeze wash over her. Her long, wavy burgundy hair swayed in the wind, complementing her fiery figure. She was both beautiful and fierce.

As he spoke, one of them raised a fish spear. The other, trying to act even tougher, rowed their boat over.

The fishing boat slammed against the wooden dock.

The man with the fish spear lunged forward and gave Chen Xiaobei a hard shove. "Are you deaf? I’m talking to you! Do you know whose territory this is?"

But there was no way he could move Chen Xiaobei. Not only did Chen Xiaobei not budge, but the powerful rebound sent the man stumbling backward, right into the pond.

SPLASH.

"Motherfucker!" The man was in a miserable state. He was wearing waders, and even though he could swim, he couldn’t stay afloat and began to sink.

"Brother Jiang, quick, pull me up! I’m going down!" Song Wei shouted as he thrashed in the water.

Jiang Long quickly bent over and hauled him into the boat. After swallowing a bellyful of water, Song Wei choked and sputtered, looking completely wretched. "Motherfucker, you dare to mess with me? Brother Jiang, let’s get him together! Kill the bastard!"

"Alright—" The two shot Chen Xiaobei a murderous glare and stepped forward, ready for a fight.

Just then, a sharp voice cut in. "Stop!"

A man in his thirties, flanked by a group of underlings, walked over. This was none other than Shen Wenkai, the owner of the fish pond. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

"What’s going on with you two? Did you fall in the pond?"

"Brother Kai, help us! It was him! He did it!" Song Wei pointed at Chen Xiaobei and said coldly, "Brother Jiang and I were just peacefully feeding the fry in the pond. I don’t know what we said wrong, but this guy took offense. He started cursing at us, and when I tried to reason with him, he pushed me into the pond without a second thought. If Brother Jiang hadn’t helped me, I would’ve drowned for sure!

"You little brat," he finished with a sneer, "my big brother is here now. Let’s see you act so arrogant!"

Faced with Song Wei’s shameless and blatant distortion of the truth, Chen Xiaobei could only marvel internally. Wow, this guy’s got some nerve. But he had seen plenty of people like this before and couldn’t be bothered to stoop to his level. He addressed the boss directly. "You’re Shen Wenkai, right? I won’t waste my breath. Your two men insulted my girlfriend, which is why I got physical.

"But that doesn’t matter. I came here today to ask if you’re interested in selling this fish pond. If you are, name your price. If it’s reasonable, I’ll pay on the spot."

"Five million?" Chen Xiaobei was genuinely shocked.

But Qiu Xingcai whispered to him, "Xiaobei, I did some research. Shen Wenkai isn’t lying; he really does make a lot of money each year. I heard it’s because the fish from this pond are exceptionally good, so they sell like crazy. That’s why I want to buy this place. I heard from Qingcheng that you acquired the Xinghe Grand Hotel, right? Business there is terrible right now. I was thinking, if we could acquire this fish pond, we could introduce a specialty dish. It might be just what we need to revitalize the hotel’s business."
