Days of Living with My Sister-in-Law-Chapter 261: Saw a Ghost
"What’s wrong?"
Li Guangding replied, "Although I didn’t clearly hear the name of the place Gui Yunzi mentioned, I’m sure it’s not Baquan Temple!"
"Of course, they might have already moved the location. I just want to remind Brother Bei."
"Okay, I understand."
Chen Xiaobei nodded.
Actually, he didn’t really trust Qin Shihua, but right now, this was the only clue he had, so Chen Xiaobei had to check it out no matter what.
He didn’t ask Li Guangding to come along and decided to travel lightly by himself, driving to Baquan Temple outside the city.
This Baquan Temple was once a tourist attraction in Songshan, but for the past two years, it had been closed for some unknown reason, so there was no incense smoke.
From afar, the temple perched halfway up the mountain, towering majestically, with a pagoda standing resolutely on the mountainside above the temple, like a sharp blade slicing the full moon in the sky in half.
In short, this place looked very sinister, making Chen Xiaobei feel uncomfortable the moment he got out of the car!
To avoid alerting anyone, Chen Xiaobei didn’t dare to drive up to the temple gate and got off the car about a kilometer away to proceed on foot.
Since Baquan Temple was built halfway up the mountain, there was only one road leading to it, so any movement could be caught by Chen Xiaobei’s keen Nine Nether Eyes.
While he was walking, a bright light suddenly appeared ahead, and soon a car was driving down along the mountain road.
Chen Xiaobei quickly hid in the bushes, and with the aid of the Nine Nether Eyes, he soon caught sight of the car.
It was a black Jeep with its license plate covered, but because Chen Xiaobei could see through it, he could tell it was a car from Luyang!
The driver inside was a man who looked to be in his forties, exuding a fierce and imposing aura, at least at Earth Rank Fifth Grade!
At the same time, the driver seemed to sense someone was watching him, casting a sharp glance in Chen Xiaobei’s direction while driving.
Chen Xiaobei knew the person was alert, hastily retracting his divine skills, and swiftly dived deeper into the woods.
By now, Chen Xiaobei was drenched in sweat.
Although an Earth Rank Fifth Grade opponent wasn’t too strong for him, getting entangled with this guy would inevitably delay rescuing Zhang Yingying.
Fortunately, the driver didn’t actually notice Chen Xiaobei. Once Chen Xiaobei retracted his Nine Nether Eyes, the driver didn’t get out to check and drove away down the mountain.
"Damn, that was close!"
Chen Xiaobei breathed a sigh of relief, "A driver at Earth Rank Fifth Grade, and with a Luyang license plate—could it be connected to the Qin Family?"
Chen Xiaobei recalled Li Guangding’s earlier warning.
But at this point, he had no other clues and could only stealthily make his way up to the gate of Baquan Temple along the mountain path.
With the perspective of the Nine Nether Eyes, the scenery within a hundred meters of the temple was revealed to Chen Xiaobei in its entirety!
The surrounding halls were empty, except for some Buddha statues, and Chen Xiaobei didn’t see a single person.
Only in the distance, about a hundred meters away, a faint candlelight glimmered. Through the Nine Nether Eyes, Chen Xiaobei noticed it was a side room.
Outside the side room stood two guards dressed in black, and due to the distance and lack of lighting, Chen Xiaobei couldn’t see the scene inside the room.
However, Chen Xiaobei didn’t rush over. After all, an entire large temple guarded by only two people seemed extremely suspicious!
After climbing over the wall, Chen Xiaobei, under the moonlight, made his way directly up to the main hall.
Just then, an extremely foul rotting smell wafted into his nostrils!
Chen Xiaobei frowned. As a doctor, he was all too familiar with this smell—it was the stench of decayed corpses that had been deceased for quite some time.
"Is it coming from the main hall?"
Chen Xiaobei followed the scent upwards.
He didn’t enter the main hall but activated the Nine Nether Eyes, and discovered that although the environment inside was kept very clean, the central Buddha statue concealed at least a dozen corpses that had long decayed into skeletons.
The bodies wore monk’s robes, obviously once the monks of Baquan Temple!
To be honest, Chen Xiaobei wasn’t afraid of the dead, but the scene before him still made his scalp tingle!
Nearly a dozen bodies had been unable to stretch within the Buddha statue, some with their faces contorted from being crushed. They clawed and gnashed their teeth, looking like they were in Avici Hell.
The necks of these bodies showed clear signs of external trauma, obviously beaten and broken by experts before being forcibly stuffed into the Buddha statue!
Chen Xiaobei couldn’t understand why the killers chose such a method. If it were him, he’d rather dig a hole and bury them.
Just then—
Whoosh—
A gust of cold wind swept over; Chen Xiaobei clearly felt something floating past him!
"Who’s there?!"
Chen Xiaobei was startled, hurriedly retracting his Nine Nether Eyes to look around.
But other than the eerie trees and the ancient temple, there was nothing else around.
Yet Chen Xiaobei distinctly felt that something seemed to be watching him, a feeling that made his neck chill with goosebumps.
"What’s going on?"
Chen Xiaobei frowned, then activated the Nine Nether Eyes again.
In the next second, Chen Xiaobei almost let out a scream!
What did he see?
He saw those corpses that had been still inside the Buddha statue suddenly start moving inexplicably!
As if that wasn’t enough, they were beckoning and wailing at Chen Xiaobei, their cries echoing throughout the hall.
"Woo woo woo, help us, please..."
At this moment, Chen Xiaobei felt like his worldview was about to collapse, with chills running across his skin.
But he didn’t think he was hallucinating, as the scene was too real, certainly caused by something significant.
With that thought, Chen Xiaobei immediately shut off the Nine Nether Eyes.
Immediately following, a magical event unfolded; the scene before him vanished completely, not a sound was heard.
In the next moment, Chen Xiaobei reactivated the Nine Nether Eyes, and as expected, the corpses moved again, and the wailing once more reached his ears.
"Oh crap, I’ve really seen a ghost!"
Chen Xiaobei was taken aback, pondering, "It seems the Nine Nether Eyes upgraded tonight, like Xi Yao mentioned she could see ghosts. I always thought she was lying, but there are really ghosts in this world!"
"But how am I supposed to communicate with these ghosts? They seem to be begging me for help!"
