Death Mage with an SS-Rank Talent-Chapter 197
Chapter 197: Chapter 197
Early in the morning, Aaron completed his daily activities and had breakfast before leaving for the auditorium.
When he arrived at the auditorium, it was filled with students, a lot of them. This was because the academy had called not just the first-year students but also the second-year students to this meeting.
This was something Aaron knew beforehand, courtesy of Zara. It was why he had a bad feeling about this announcement.
Recent rumours brought by seniors who went out were that monster attacks intensified in regions that are neither coastal regions nor borders of the alliance-controlled lands. This was alarming information.
Though he has no idea whether that was true or not, something bad has happened, that was for sure. This was what everyone thought, especially after seeing that they were not the only ones summoned this morning,g and they were right to think, which would be unfurled a few minutes later.
Aaron found an empty seat and went to occupy the seat.
"Hey Aaron", a call came from behind as he was about to occupy the seat.
Aaron turned around to see Erika waving at him. He smiled and moved towards her location. She was the same year as him and also one of the five who went to the capital for the tournament, along with him.
So, them sitting side by side wouldn’t appear weird, but it does if Zara takes a seat, as she was from the second year. So, unless it was the Student Resource Center, they wouldn’t converse much in public.
One can see a bit of envy in her eyes; they couldn’t converse much while in public, like Erika could with him, but there was nothing that could be done. Having someone in the harem who was not plotting against other women is already a blessing. There is no need to push for more at this time.
As Erika and Aaron were chatting, Diana joined them, but sat beside Erika instead of beside Aaron, as that would bring unwanted rumours about them, and no none wanted such unsubstantiated rumours to appear in the first place.
Diana, seated beside Erika, joined the chat. To others, it was just a chat between the top performers of the first year, nothing more.

"Well, this went to shit", Aaron cursed as he left the auditorium along with Erika and Diana.
It was because it really went to shit.
A few minutes after Aaron came to the auditorium, a staff member appeared on the platform as before, but this time, this staff member was an important one of the academy.
It was the vice-headmistress, Lyanna, who appeared before the students.
As soon as the students saw it was the Vice-headmistress, they felt that something had gone wrong. There was no other reason for the Vice-headmistress to make a announcement like this one.
The top officials of the academy would only appear for events of importance, and with her here, it means this announcement is very important. With how things were going on out in the world, the announcement should be very bad, which is what everyone thought, and they were right.
Lyanna spoke as everyone turned silent with her arrival, "I know many of you have doubts about what was happening. There is a lot that was happening in the world, some good and some bad, some both good and bad".
"The reason I am here is to talk about some that are bad and some that are both good and bad".
"I know that all of you heard rumours about monster attacks and cults attacking everywhere. Most of them are true, but there are some fake ones mixed in. Soon you will know which is real and which is fake. So, I won’t be talking about them".
"The thing that is both good and bad was that our planet was going through an upgrade".
As soon as those words came out of Lyanna’s mouth, murmurs started to appear. She just observed the reactions of everyone. Unlike the information regarding Monsters and Cults, which was quite known, this was something that they didn’t know, or at least that’s what Lyanna assumed, until she saw Aaron’s surprised face.
Everyone was surprised by the news, but what she saw in Aaron was a different surprise.
Aaron already knew that the world was going to upgrade. So, he was not surprised by that fact but rather by the fact that the academy is now revealing the information.
The rather different surprise on Aaron’s face caught Lyanna off guard. She felt that there was something different about Aaron’s expression, though he seemed genuinely surprised at the moment.
"Something seemed off with Aaron, but I have no time for now. Let’s think about that later. For now, let’s complete what I came here to do", she thought before she continued, "As I was saying, the world is upgrading, which means the resources would improve both in quantity and quality".
"This means there would be more fights. Just like all those years before the alliance was established, the age of chaos would be repeated again. When the alliance gained knowledge regarding that, they started to prepare, but the time came quickly, especially with those tumours of human society called Cults".
"Due to internal disturbances from the cults, the alliance failed in protecting some areas at the borders. Just like the alliance, they too came to know about the planet upgrade and started causing trouble for the alliance everywhere. At first, it was okay, but with monsters and increased Cult activity, it became troublesome".
"So, at first, the final year students were deployed, but now even deploying the final year students doesn’t seem to be enough. Third and Second year students would be deployed as well, though they wouldn’t be in the front, rather they would be guarding and overseeing the background".
"So, that means, first-year students have to take on the missions posted in the hall. With so much mayhem and involvement of military and other organisations, the missions in the Mission Hall are reduced, and most are not at all dangerous, but remember that even if the missions are not dangerous, the world is still dangerous. So watch your backs while out to complete the missions".
Lyanna ended her speech and left, but not before taking a final look at Aaron, who didn’t see as he was engrossed in speaking with Erika and Diana about the things that were just announced.
He couldn’t believe his ears when they announced the information. Unlike others who feel that all information should be free and one can’t hoard it, that is not always true.
Information is like wealth and should be shared only for an equal exchange. Giving something out for free is the most dangerous thing in the world.
What bothered Aaron now was that everyone knew about this, and there could be more chaos. He couldn’t understand the reason why the alliance deemed to make this public, but that was not his headache to bear.
What he needed to worry about was how to survive in this chaos, especially when his parents are not combat professionals in the first place.
A new plan has to be made for their survival and his in this new age of chaos.
