Chapter 254: Chapter 254

Capital City...Alliance HQ

The Capital City was moving as it did every day. There were no changes on the outside, but there were some on the inside.

This was because a spy from the Alliance was able to infiltrate the Cult and was able to extract some high-level information that can be very useful in ending the damn war with the Cult.

The war won’t truly end, as skirmishes would continue as long as even one member of the Cult was alive, but if they could use this information, the large-scale event with the Cult would come to an end.

Once that was done, the Alliance could concentrate fully on the monsters. Dealing with two enemies at the same time has become a hassle for them, causing a lot of damage not just to resources but also to their people.

Resources can be recultivated easily when compared to human personnel.

Sure, there are a lot of awakeners every year, but it would take years before they can reach the rank where they can be beneficial to society, which is Rank-5.

There are a lot of professionals who have reached in Rank-4, but anyone below Rank-5 is nothing but cannon fodder when something like this happens.

Sure, a Rank-4 professional is powerful ,but the highest they can reach is level 1000, which doesn’t give out much attributes

Only Rank-5 and above can make any difference in large-scale battles.

This was the reason why every final-year student tries their best to reach Rank-5 before graduation, as it would give them an extra advantage in choosing their job. If they become an Elite, they would be given better treatment, wherever they want to be.

"Gentlemen, one of our spies was finally able to get his hands on something important, the reason why the Cult started this damn war in the first place", the man spoke as he pulled out some documents and spread them among the gathered.

The men who were gathered here are people who sit at the top of the alliance, not just the alliance officials, but also headmasters of various academies.

"Wait, is this true?" one of them gasped as they read the information from the documents.

"This can’t be right?" another asked.

"This should be true. If not, the cult wouldn’t have secured it, and our spy was lucky to get a chance to copy the details, though he didn’t get enough time to copy everything. Also, we have sent agents to check whether this was true or not. Months ago, there were cult movements in that place. It was verified. The cult seems to have found a ruin in the Wastelands. Their diviners have said that this place has power that can level the world, and they were trying their best to get that power", the first one spoke.

[A/N: Refer to Chapters 171-172]

"I assume we are discussing this because they didn’t get that power", another spoke.

"Yes, they didn’t. They had sent a few teams, but they lost connection with those teams", the first one clarified.

"So, it is dangerous", another chimed in.

"Very dangerous, I assume. If what their diviners said was true, then if they get this power, we would lose, the world would lose", the first one told them the possible outcome if the cult gets this power, whatever it is.

The room went silent for a second, digesting what the first man had said.

If the information that they recovered was true, then it would be devastating for the alliance if they succeed in their endeavour. There is a high chance of them succeeding, especially with the supreme, the suspected leader of the cult, arriving at the site.

"What did our diviners say about this?" one asked.

"They said that all they saw was darkness, nothing more. It was why I fear that the cult may succeed and retrieve whatever was supposed to be in that ruin", the first one said.

"What do you mean?" one asked for clarification.

"As I said, darkness, complete darkness. I believe that either whatever there is too dangerous to be retrieved or the cult is using something to block our diviners from seeing the ruins", the first one answered.

Hearing those words, the others nodded in agreement. If they went to such lengths, there should be something important there. No doubt about that.

"We need to stop this from becoming a success, but who do we send?" one of the members asked.

"The problem was that there were no teams available currently to deal with this. If we divert any teams, that might give the cults or the monsters in the area a chance to attack that place, which we can’t let happen", one of the members spoke.

What they said is true.

"If we send some low-ranking ones, and that supreme arrives, he or she would wipe them all out. It would be much better if we don’t send anyone than send the low-ranking ones", one of them spoke.

Many nodded in agreement.

They have no idea when the supreme was supposed to arrive. The supreme may even be on his way at the moment. So, they couldn’t waste much time deciding on who to send for the mission.

They discussed for a while about whom to send. After a while, they finally decided to send teams from three different places. Two of them were near the wastelands, while one was far away.

One of those teams was from the Last Bastion.

They had discussed about the latest news about the missing monsters near the fort. No one could find who was behind those missing monsters, but one thing they were sure of was that whoever was behind this was strong.

Though there were thoughts that the cult members were behind these monster disappearances, the alliance has no time and resources to check this threat. For now, they had to fully concentrate on the wasteland. Once that was done, some resources could be tilted to see if those monster disappearances could haunt them later on.

Decideing on what to do and how to do, the meeting ended, and orders were sent to the three places to provide personnel for this endeavour.
