Chapter 13: Chapter 13: Her Proposal

"Did you just say the person sister-in-law slept with was... Second Master Vaughn?"

"Are you out of your damn mind?"

The person who spoke got kicked by the person next to them.

The person realized and scratched their head awkwardly.

Isaac Vaughn gestured at his phone and got up to leave.

As soon as he left, Jason Grant took Natalie Kendall’s phone and opened the recent calls.

"You didn’t make a call?"

Natalie Kendall expressionlessly took her phone back.

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

Someone laughed and said, "Turns out it was a false alarm! Haha!"

Someone else acted like a wise after-the-fact, "Not to say anything, but what were you all thinking? Sister-in-law and Second Master Vaughn, the relationship between those two, how could it be possible?"

"Alright, alright." Jason Grant didn’t want to continue this discussion.

The recent misunderstanding left him feeling inexplicably uncomfortable.

"Then, should we keep playing? Sister-in-law..." Before the speaker could finish, Natalie Kendall also got up and left.

"Don’t worry about her." Jason Grant sat back down beside the girl in a tight little leather skirt and put his arm around her. "Let’s continue."

——

Natalie Kendall stood at the entrance of the bathroom.

Men’s on the left, women’s on the right.

"Want me to give you a tour?"

A deep male voice suddenly sounded near her ear from behind.

She was then pulled into a warm chest, entering a stall in the men’s room.

"Take them off."

Isaac Vaughn leaned against the door panel, took a cigarette out of his pocket, and lit it.

Natalie glared at him.

Her expression was no longer blank, but filled with anger between the brows and eyes.

Isaac thought of a phrase: alluringly sensual.

He took a step forward, and she frowned and stepped back.

He stretched out his long arm, pulling her back and said in a flippant tone, "Since you’re already here, why not let me have a look?"

Of course, he wanted to do something more.

He tossed the cigarette to the ground and extinguished it, pressing up to her.

"No..."

Natalie pushed him.

"I have something to say."

"Okay, later."

"Isaac Vaughn!"

"Tsk!"

Impatient, Isaac withdrew, his face full of discontent, gritting his teeth, "Speak!"

Natalie composed herself, looking up at him.

"We could meet weekly, like others."

Isaac was startled into laughter.

Did she really understand what she was saying in Chinese?

He took out another cigarette, lighting it and blowing out smoke rings, smiling a not-so-genuine smile, "Continue."

"Preferably on weekends or a day before I don’t have an 8 am class. You’re too long every time, it tires me out, and I have no energy the next day."

Natalie, since she included a bit of criticism, felt slightly sheepish.

"During regular times, our relationship stays the same."

"What relationship do we have regularly? Oh—you’re my uncle’s fiancée."

Isaac’s eyes held no humor as he smiled, "I get it. You just want to keep this kind of relationship with me, right?"

Natalie’s face reddened, not denying it, she softly turned her head, "Something like that."

Fine.

She’s something!

He advances one step, she retreats ten steps!

Natalie had thought it through clearly.

She had to marry Jason Grant.

But when it came to Isaac Vaughn, she couldn’t help but be drawn to him in every way.

The current situation, unchanged, was the best.

No romance talk for adults.

They could kiss, hug, and be close with abandon, but once they’re out of bed, they revert to their respective places.

"What do you think?" Natalie cautiously asked, her eyes revealing her anticipation hoping he would agree.

Isaac met her deer-in-the-headlights look, but inside he thought: To hell with the deer!

She was clearly a little fox!

He bit down on his cigarette, slender fingers gripping Natalie’s chin, deliberately blowing smoke in her face, tone mocking and somber:

"I think—you’re bullshitting me!"

——

Natalie Kendall and Isaac Vaughn talked and it broke down.

Isaac left in anger, not even having seen anything.

While Natalie couldn’t understand why Isaac didn’t accept her proposal.

After all, being friends-with-benefits was much more realistic than marriage.

Returning to the private room, she told Jason Grant she was leaving.

Jason Grant already felt unable to fully enjoy himself with her there, so he was happy for her to leave quickly.

The rich second-generation who had just messaged Scott Quinn wanted to say something to make her stay, but it was inappropriate.

He asked why Scott wasn’t there yet.

Just as he sent the message, Scott Quinn pushed the door open.

"Huh? Who are you? Did you come into the wrong room?"

"My friend, I invited him." The rich kid stood up and waved Scott Quinn over, "You’re here."

He winked toward Natalie Kendall and Jason Grant’s direction as he said this.

When Scott Quinn came in, he immediately spotted Natalie Kendall.

The place on his forehead where she had hit him throbbed slightly, making him smirk as he stepped further in.

The rich kid motioned him to sit next to him.

Scott picked up a glass of wine and raised it towards Jason Grant, "Nice to meet you, let’s get acquainted."

Jason Grant didn’t know him, but it didn’t matter, he gestured with his glass.

Then Scott looked at Natalie Kendall, his smile deepening, "Nat, what a coincidence."

Hearing this, Jason Grant was surprised, "You two know each other?"

Scott drained his glass of wine, placing the empty glass on the coffee table, leaning back against the sofa, "We do."

This tone made Jason Grant sense something was off.

He looked over at Natalie Kendall.

With a cold expression, Natalie said, "I’m leaving now."

"Nat, why the rush?" Scott called out to Natalie, feigning sudden realization, "Are you afraid I might say something?"

"What are you up to?" Jason frowned at Scott and asked the rich kid who invited him, "Did your friend forget his meds today?"

"Scott!" The rich kid sensed something was wrong and whispered to Scott as he held onto his arm, "Maybe you should let it go! They’re engaged!"

Engaged?

Scott first showed surprise, then let out a laugh.

He looked at Jason Grant, expression sinister, and spoke slowly, "Do you know your fiancée is selling herself?"

Natalie Kendall swiftly turned to Scott, her eyes icy.

Apparently she didn’t hit him hard enough last time.

Her eyes glanced at the bottle on the coffee table, maybe she should hit him again!

"You can ask around at Seaharbor University, everyone knows. Every 5th of the month at Zenithar, your so-called fiancée meets with a sponsor for... bedroom activities!"

Jason Grant was initially shocked and angry hearing Scott say Natalie sold herself, not because he cared, but because so many friends were present, and he feared losing face.

But when Scott mentioned every 5th of the month at Zenithar, he sensed something was off.

"If you don’t believe me, I have pictures." Scott said, raising his phone.

Curiosity piqued, everyone leaned in to see.

The photo clearly showed the girl was indeed Natalie Kendall, but the man was only seen from the back.

"How about it?" Scott asked confidently, "Bet you never imagined your fiancée was such a piece of trash, did you?"

The crowd murmured, looking at Jason Grant with sympathy, assuming he was truly being cheated on.

"Jason, this..."

"Maybe there’s a misunderstanding..."

Jason Grant walked toward Scott.

Friends tried to stop him, but he pushed them aside.

He looked at Scott’s phone.

Scott smirked, reached out and patted his shoulder, prideful, "No need to thank me. Better to recognize what a trash she is sooner..."

"Bang!"
