Deceiving Her Ears: Ignoring Your Call-Chapter 157: Something Happened
Natalie frowned slightly.
She then heard Franklin Finch complaining: "I have no idea where Isaac found that kid. The kid had a fever all night, scared the hell out of me..."
Suddenly he realized he’d said too much, but it was already too late to stop.
Natalie had already heard him.
Her first reaction was that the kid might be Jordan Rivers.
"Where is that child?"
"Uh? Wha—what child? Haha." Franklin Finch was still trying to play it off.
But Natalie didn’t give him any chance to muddle through.
"The child you just mentioned—if I’m not mistaken, he should be my half-brother."
Because they were on the phone, Natalie couldn’t see Franklin Finch’s shocked, mouth-agape expression, but she could imagine it.
"Your... your brother..."
Even as carefree as Franklin Finch usually was, when it came to family secrets like this, he knew better than to pry.
"Anyway, don’t worry. I called a doctor, and he stayed here all night. The boy’s fever is gone. He’s okay now."

Natalie arrived at Franklin Finch’s villa.
Under the care of a housekeeper, Jordan Rivers was sipping porridge with tiny mouthfuls.
After a whole night of fever, his small face looked pale and weak.
The housekeeper had made vegetable porridge for him. It was light but not entirely tasteless.
Before, whenever he was sick, his mother Lydia Fletcher would also make vegetable porridge. So even though he didn’t have much appetite, he still managed to eat more than half a bowl.
But the more he ate, the more he missed his mom.
When Natalie entered, he was just lifting a small hand to wipe his tears.
Hearing the sound, he looked over. His eyes instantly opened wide.
"Sis!" Jordan Rivers called out to Natalie, unable to hide the excitement in his voice. "Sis, are you here to take me home?"
Natalie walked over to him.
The housekeeper, getting a look from Franklin Finch, put the porridge on the nightstand and quietly left the room.
Franklin Finch closed the door for them.
At the door, he tried Isaac Vaughn’s number for the nth time.
Still no answer—phone off.
What the hell?
Franklin Finch put away his phone, glanced at the bedroom door, and headed downstairs.
In the room.
Natalie sat down on the edge of the bed, took the bowl from the nightstand, and asked Jordan, "Do you want some more?"
Seeing that his sister meant to feed him, Jordan immediately nodded hard. "Yes!"
Natalie fed him the rest of the half bowl of vegetable porridge, then wiped his mouth with a tissue.
Jordan was mature for his age, and after all he’d just gone through, he’d already learned to read people’s moods.
He watched Natalie’s face, and asked carefully, "Sis, where’s your husband?"
Compared to her, it seemed that Jordan trusted and relied on Isaac Vaughn more.
Natalie replied calmly: "So he was the one who brought you to Janton? When did you get here?"
"A few days ago." Jordan bit his lip, and said in a small voice, "Grandma passed away. I called your husband. I was scared..."
Natalie was stunned when she heard this.
Grandma Rivers passed away?
How could it be so sudden?
She saw tears filling Jordan’s eyes as he spoke, and soon, big drops were falling down.
She pulled some tissues to wipe his tears.
Jordan pursed his lips. Suddenly, he crawled out from under the covers and threw himself into her arms.
He didn’t wail, just sobbed quietly in hiccuping whimpers.
Which, somehow, sounded even more heartbreaking.
Natalie patted his back, wanting to comfort him but not knowing what to say.
Jordan cried so hard snot bubbles came out, dirtying her clothes.
His little face red, he kept stuttering apologies through his tears.
Natalie wasn’t angry and didn’t blame him at all. She only said it was all right.
Jordan licked his lips, hope in his voice, "Sis, can I go home with you?"
Before Natalie could answer, Franklin Finch suddenly pushed the door open, looking very serious: "Natalie, I think something’s wrong! I still can’t get in touch with Isaac—he’s not in trouble, is he?"
